  1. Some money from your wallet?
  2. Let's say...Keanu Reeves. Some have called me good looking, but really I just look like a jackass.
  3. No, but it's largely irrelevant to the conversation that folks were having about air safety.
  4. I guess I'm old fashioned, but I just love the feeling of an actual book in my hands. I tried reading on my dad's Kindle a couple days ago and it just felt weird.
  5. Those of you applauding the old man (and I don't necessarily disagree with you ), I have a question. Would you feel the same way if it was a 15 year old kid punching a 68 year old man? How about the old man punching a 15 year old girl? If it's all a matter of public safety, then you shouldn't feel any differently about the alternate situations. I suspect many people just relish seeing a punk get his.
  6. I lost a bet this past summer, so while out at the bars for a weekend I had to introduce myself to every woman with "Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm a man of wealth and taste." I'd like to say it worked. It didn't.
  7. Whom's asking? Austin Powers? Or was that ripped off from something older?
  8. Aside from the Manning factor, KC looks a LOT better than Indy this season.
  9. Well said. People concerned with the institution of marriage have chosen homosexuals as a target. Why not focus their attention on people like this who are TRULY making a mockery of it? Personally, I say live and let live. But I doubt Ms. Harris is going to find this to be a very fulfilling life.
  10. If he's not great, then why do almost all advanced metrics point to him as being the best DT in the NFL this season, including one of the most dominant single-game performances EVER (against pitt)?
  11. Ok, but first I should research how to affiliate my experiment with a known cause. I suppose I could simply promise "All proceeds go to _____" but that's a ****ty way to maximize returns. Most people would be too skeptical to just fork money over to me, and rightfully so. I'm going to get on that. Anyway, yes, it's rather insipid isn't it? In retrospect I shouldn't have made myself sound so high and mighty. In my defense, I wrote the original missive on a whim at 3 A.M. If you read the remainder of this thread (I don't expect you to), you'll notice that I toned down the grandiosity. Still, I think it could be an interesting project for personal growth. And even better if I can manage to raise some money for those less fortunate!
  12. If I have eaten beans a little further, it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants.
  13. I gotcha Jim, and it's actually funny you mention this. I'm an avid hiker and backpacker (admittedly, during the warm season). The Finger Lakes region is particularly great for weekend or 4-day treks. One of my goals before I hit 30 is to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. As for the lentils, I realize it seems beyond dumb. But right now my mind is set on it for some reason. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
  14. I remember pre-season you saw a lot of "He'll never be anything more than he is. Williams is simply 20 pounds too light to be great."
  15. Starting on the dawn of 2011. Enjoying all my favorite foods...for now.
  16. Ok, I was just gonna let it go, but you persist in implying that I'm some sort of bleeding heart hippie. I'm not. This experiment has nothing to do with the cause of vegetarians or vegans, ok? Have you seen me preaching to anybody about what they eat? I'm merely trying something strange for the potential benefit of myself. I chose to publicly state my intentions. I realize that I opened myself to criticism when I did this. But come on man, who do you REALLY think is the one on the high horse at this point?
  17. Hey Pebblez, thanks for inquiring. I'm starting on January 1. The whole "tomorrow" thing was just a typo. I'm going to set up a blog to track my status and post the link here, as well as other places
  18. Quick question, crayonz. How will this decision regarding inhalations affect your exhalation plans?
  19. Wow, crayonz, this is very very bold. I wish you nothing but luck in your quest.
  20. Ok, I'm an agnostic. But I'm fond of Christmas and a lot of the music. Sue me. Anyway, we already had the thread for bad Christmas songs, here are a few of my favorites... Carol of the Bells (TSO version especially...hell, anything by TSO) Oh Holy Night (gorgeous tune) Snoopy Christmas You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch
  21. Bart, I'd like to thank you for the reasoned and well-thought-out response. One reason I posted about this in the first place (aside from garnering myself some attention haha) is that I wanted to get perspectives from a wide variety of people. Don't worry about sounding negative or discouraging the idea...I don't discourage very easily. Indeed, I see failure as a real and like possibility. Whether that failure is of the optional or mandatory variety, who knows? Or perhaps I'll succeed. Wouldn't that be something? Really, it's something of a personality flaw. I consider the concept more than the process and approach a lot of things with a fair degree of recklessness. I agree with you that more research should have done before my announcement. On the flip side, a person with a more firmly screwed on head wouldn't have the intrepid spirit to try this sort of thing in the first place.
