Yeah this is crazy and the risk with any player that signs for “life money.” There are always two sides to every story but the situation looks pretty ugly right now.

No doubt it is numbers game and probably 2 of the 5 are headed to the practice squad. With that said, no secret that the Bills want a pass catching RB so Cook takes the roster spot that last year was held by Matt Brieda. Shakir may very well displace Crowder. The rest are probably normal “tug of war” placements between the roster and the practice squad. No doubt the Bills will have some tough decisions to make. This is a good problem to have.

There is no way that you can deny that the guy had physical talent. The Bills front office has done a good job of assessing talent. They have picked well outside of RB, O-line and d-line picks (maybe) as the jury is still out on several. They also do a very good job picking players with a “want to” attitude and physical talent. I did not say in my OP that all of the picks were locks. I simply said the early view is that several will make the roster and contribute.

It’s looking less likely that Crowder makes the team. Tavon Austin is also very much at risk.

Understood but the Bills are about to be hit with the high dollars of JA’s contract and a number of other vets who will look to get paid / extended. Roster turnover and replenishment through the draft is even more critical as a result of this. Oliver, Emunds, Poyer and Knox either are or will be looking to get paid (now or) after this season. The Bills will struggle to retain all of its core players.

Cook looks like he has the opportunity to strongly contribute Shakir will make the roster and might be the steal of the draft Benford is supposedly outplaying a first round pick and if Shakir wasn’t the steal of the draft maybe he is Araiza may live up to his nickname Spector may be playing himself on to the roster Ok its only preseason but man if Elam comes around as expected the draft may look to be huge a couple of years down the road.

Very welcome news. The starting line needs reps together. I am personally hopeful the Bills offense is more balanced with the run this year. Yes, JA has a huge arm and a stable of WR’s but at times a ball control offense is a stellar defense.
