  1. Agreed. They can do alot with both backs in at the same time, I don't care if we lose, just show me you're trying by getting some new plays in the mix and especially ones that can get him the ball. That's why i think they should put him in motion on almost every play he's in on. He can burn any LB in the middle of the field so any time he's a reciever he's going to be a mismatch on whoever is guarding him. If the other team starts to correct for it by devoting secondary to cover him that will in turn give someone single coverage on the outside.
  2. The Bills have had an entire offseason to put into place new plays that can get this kid the ball in space. Last year, CJ had some issues hitting the hole in the D-Line. Most of the time it was because our Line wasn't creating the holes but the times that they had, CJ was too rushed. If they leave the ball carrying up to Fred and put CJ in motion for slant routes or just screens off the motion I think we could see him make his high draft pick worth while. I'll make a bold prediction that he's going to have 1500 all purpose yards this year with 8 TD's if Chan has done his homework.
  3. I hear your optimism and it's great but being a realist and a fan at the same time I think they've got 3 years until they even break above 50%. They're putting the pieces in place but are starting to become a young team with no franchise QB in place that is really searching for an identity. If they go 50% this year but develop and grow the new guys they'll reach what my goal for them would be. I want to see last year's draft class become more evident. You had Easley (sp?) who was injured coming back to add to the recieving corps, Carrington is still a question mark as to if he can perform at the level we need, Moats looked promising but needs to earn the starting role again, and not to mention the #1 pick in CJ that hasn't really been all that spectacular. They need to find out how to get him the ball in space. I do believe that this may have been the best draft as far as raw talent in quite some time. The Modrak Era has ended and the Whaley era begins. I do believe that Nix has this team heading in the right direction. I think he may have really done most of the work on the scouting and understood that Modrak screwed up the last 10 years of this franchises picks. This year and last year I believe that Nix/Gailey made the calls with Modrak's suggestions of minor importance. They went for players they found that were proven producers not like the MAYBIN 1 year wonder pick that has set us back quite a bit on where we should be with our D. Good Riddance Modrak. Nice work Chan & Buddy. I really hope that they can turn this around eventually but as to the subject of the initial comment, 8-8 would be above expectations for me. I would be thrilled with an 8-8 season showing some direction as to the younger players and where they fit. Next year, QB (maybe by trading up) that can be the face of the franchise. Then 2 years from that they'll be competing for a spot on the AFC side barring no set backs or flops in the next couple drafts. MC
  4. I was listening to a popular local radio talk show host in Florida. He hit the nail right on the head with a not so PC term that he made up called the Pussification of America. He was referring to at the time how disciplining your child by spanking had become so scrutinized in parenting or how bad parents have actually become with parenting in general not that he claimed to be such a genious at it. It's really very true. When I was a child i was only spanked 2 times in my childhood and not beaten spanked just sting spanked. I don't recall anything obviously happening very early on but I do remember why i was spanked those two times and I'm now thirty. I was 8 and 10. Once at 8 for stealing a toy from my sister when she was playing with it then when my parents told me to give it back i threw a fit and threw it at her and hit her in the head with it. I must say it was well deserved and it instilled a fear of my father that otherwise I had always somewhat had because he was tough on discipline. When my mom said, i'll tell your father what you are doing if you don't stop... I stopped. Obviously kids who are born into abusive families should have this known and not have to deal with it but as the talk show host put it, it's not the 21st century way to use hard discipline, it's the go sit in a corner and when you are done being bad then you can have your toys back. What happens... the kid does it again. Anyways the point of this whole post was to just say that his "pussification of america" has now been instilled in the NFL with the slap on the hands fines for hard hitting. I agree that there are some hits that are just blatant where the player missles with their helmet at the other player's head. That's fine, i agree with the rule there but incidental contact has been committed more times than not where a guy is just trying to make a play. Concussions happen in the nfl every year. Who are you commissioner to tell them to stop hitting so hard? It's freaking football for crying out loud!!! As for the spanking vs. the undisciplined child with the PC parents and how that even ties into this rant... I do believe that there should be a no tolerance policy for these atheletes. 1 and done. What is wrong with that. There are plenty of college kids who are looking for a shot to make an NFL roster. Why should the High talent low character player reap the rewards if he is going out and getting caught with drugs or with guns or Hitting someone while intoxicated (Lynch) and driving off? OK too harsh? 1 chance to rebound and the one time you do screw up make the penalty more than just a sit in the corner for 2 games and when you come back you can play with your toys again. How about when you screw up once, you get DQ'd for the regular season without pay and if you do it again you're gone. Now i realize they are pulling some of their talent from not so nice neighborhoods and some of the Gangster mentality ensues but why do we pay a gangster millions of dollars just so we can watch him run 100 yards on a football field if he's going to then use the money to buy drugs, influence others to do bad or be a negative role model for young kids. I get so angry with teams that rehire players that A)Don't have a tough work ethic B) dont' have a team mentality C) have done wrong over and over D) Have 9 kids with 8 different women (Pacman Jones, Travis Henry, Haynesworth, Lynch and Probably a handful of others i can't even think of right now but i'm sure you know a few. Now you may say, wait so what a guy does off the field matters including how many kids they have with different women? What happens to morality, family morals, teaching your kid it isn't right to go off and be irresponsible. Maybe I'm old fashioned for 30 but I hate what's happend with "system" now. Both family life and quality people have suffered by their idols, these players that are 'stars' or just TV stars in general that are jackasses off the field/screen. MC.
  5. www.atdhe.net Free for every NFL game. It's on old posts on this board.
  6. Succeed to me means actually leading a team to the playoffs or a winning record for that matter consistently.
  7. Almost everyone on this board hates him as a QB... myself included. Some Jax fans are happy to get him and say he's going to thrive in their system with a change of scenery. I even read a comment that Trent didn't do well because "the Bills are a horrible team and have been since the late 90's"... Now not that I can disagree with that comment that we have been awful but if you don't have a QB then you are going to be awful. Look at the situation in Philly. Kolb was performing marginal and Vick came in there and he's blowing up making that team what they are. Should Trent succeed and prove everyone wrong on this board that he can play in the NFL, we can then blame something other than the QB position for once in our lives for this team's failure to win.
  8. Well said... I wish the front office was watching this before they drafted maybin...
  9. http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/article205540.ece Personally, I feel that this article is BS. He throws out the fact that it's not about being a First round pick, it's about winning games... WRONG. For you Maybin, it definitly is about being a first round pick. You are expected to produce even if you aren't playing every down of every game. When you are in specific formations JUST so you can rush the passer and you don't, that is a problem. When you are paid First round money and can't make a sack or get around the corner with your supposed "quickest first step off the line" it's a problem. The first step may be fast but it's about being elusive and using muscle to beat the Tackle in front of you. I just remember sitting and watching the draft and praying to god that Orakpo would fall to us and when he did I was certain the Bills wouldn't pass up that pick. Now we are stuck with this shlepp and his excuses for poor performance. Another monster whiff. Throw him on the pile of college overacheivers and cut ties with him. I say if he hasn't completely destroyed his trade value take a late round pick for any team that is willing to sacrafice it. This guy is a waste of a roster spot and he's proven it over and over again. NO MORE EXCUSES PLEASE. Our Pass rush is horrendous and it's amazing that there is no one that can help??? Anything would be better than sitting around waiting for this guy to produce when he just doesn't have IT.
  10. He's a veteran .... of horrible play in the NFL. I have no idea why he was resigned and he doesn't fit into this 3-4 at ALL. Threw up in my mouth a little when i saw this. Bad call by the FO to resign. 4 more years of this guy... oh man.
  11. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-3/Brohm-a-step-closer-now/ea381a1a-ee50-48ac-a3a1-87d03cb7166c The question is how long is Gailey intending on leaving Fitz at the helm? Do they intend on making the switch or are they going to ride Fitzy into the next season?
  12. OK this post makes no sense. It's a typical "oh no! we'll get bashed by the media for doing this" knee jerk reaction. WHO CARES!! I like the decision personally. The fact of the matter is that Trent was a "camp favorite" going into the season but once the lights were on and the cameras were rolling he turned into a QB who did not play with confidence, did not perform and deserved to be released. When the press asks the question of why we had him as our starter at the beginning of the season to then cutting him, that is the argument. He DIDN'T perform when the cameras were rolling. I agree that this was most likely a front office move but it was the right move and we don't have time to deal with mediocrity if we intend to win at all this season.
  13. http://www.buffalocurse.com/ Just googled the McKinley Curse and there is actually some Buffalo fanatic that made a website for it. It's actually quite amusing. enjoy.
  14. They mention there that he broke 300 yards passing on his first start so here's hoping that can come true for us. We haven't seen a 300 yard game through the air in I don't know how long but..too long. I have to admit, I wanted to see what Brohm has the capability of but evidently that isn't going to happen. We already know what fitzy has to offer so why are we giving it back to him since this season is looking like a 2-3 win season anyways even with fitz in? I just hope that gailey gives Brohm an in game opportunity to play eventually. IMO he's got the potential to surpass Fitzy. As for Trent, Gailey should have known you can't put a shine on a turd and he'll be working a blue collar job in a year from now with stories of being an NFL starter. I think next year's draft is going to be probably the most important draft in Bills history. I hope the scouting team does their job. Locker looks very much overhyped. The way he has come off this year, i wouldn't draft him until the 3rd round but he may turn it around who knows.
  15. Nevermind I forgot we don't have any sort of leverage other than draft picks which we need for, QB, OT's, LB's... pretty much everything except CB's and K P's.
  16. The NFL and the players union have agreed that Jackson can play in Week 5 if he's traded by next Wednesday. The agreement helps clear the way for Jackson to be traded, provided the Chargers can agree to terms with another team. The agreement essentially rolls what could have been a six-game suspension into four games. Jackson currently is serving a three-game NFL suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Additionally, the Chargers placed him on the roster exempt list, meaning he'd be suspended for three games once he signed with San Diego. Jackson's side felt he shouldn't have to serve that suspension if he was traded. WHY WOULDN'T WE PICK HIM UP???????? PAY THAT MAN HIS MONEY!
  17. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-3/OL-Urbik-settling-in/8bddb928-eb46-4a00-9140-002e5cf43d72 The article indicates that Urbik is fitting in nicely and has added depth to the interior positions. It mentions that he's been snapping the ball under center as well as being "Backup" at right guard. Does anyone know if he's going to play inside and one of our Inside guys (Levitre or Wood)play RT? or is he best to take over for that sad excuse for a RT Green sooner than later hopefully. Anyone would be an upgrade but this article confuses me on how they intend to use him or if they do at all... anyone have any insider info? It's obvious they need an RT, since he went to the practice squad and we picked him up right away I would think that means Nix thinks it's an opportunity. It's amazing to me that out of all the college players that graduate and play ball every year, we can't find one single tackle that can do even an average job...
  18. We had several plays last night that we started in a shotgun with a RB Behind the QB... I've personally never seen this formation before in the NFL but maybe some of you can shed light on the style and name of this formation. Second, it seems dismal to set up a run this way since you are handing the ball off 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage.... Given our current state of the O-Line where was the I Formation? We are evidently stronger on the inside yet there were very few inside runs. Game Plan - F Running Game - F Offensive line play - D QB Play - F-F = F'd Defensive line - F Secondary - A+
  19. I read this post and heard Bible music in my head and read it like a 70 year old reverend. Try it out... it's pretty funny. CAN I GET AN AMEN.... MMMMMMMMMHHHHHHHHHMMMMM.. Seriously though, Buffalo news sucks. They are a bunch of hacks and i agree that there is more information that i want to read on this board because your (all of you) opinions and facts are more interesting than someone that somehow can call themselves a true buffalonian after badmouthing the team.
  20. OK, I'll probably be getting all the Naysayers out of the woodwork with this question but I just don't see how the "experts" are proposing we are a 2-14 team. Let's look at the add/loss column for "impact" players/coaches... Lost: Head Coach Dick Jauron (good riddance) Terrell Owens (didn't free up Lee so what purpose did he serve) Josh Reed (decent/ somewhat reliable slot reciever) Aaron Schobel (sack leader on a not so sack heavy defense) I'm probably missing more but these were the ones that stand out. Added: Coach Gailey Dynamic RB Spiller NT Troup DE/OLB Carrington OL Cornell Green OLB Andra Davis WR Nelson And I'm again probably missing more but these stand out. Our Offensive line though it didn't get better got healthier. The negatives are that we're in a new system on both offense and defense BUT I have no idea how it could get any worse than last year as both units excluding the secondary were completly disfunctional. And again Trent is a question mark. Even so, our team played competant enough to get 7 wins last year??? Looking at the schedule side, how can we only win 2 games with Kansas City, Chicago and Cleveland on the list? These analysts piss me straight off.
  21. I've always liked Brohm and before Trent stepped up his game this preseason I thought the starting lineup would be Brohm Trent Levi with Fitz either traded for a 7th round pick or released. I do believe that it was an unfair showing of his skills last night since our recievers ran around like chickens with their heads cut off. I counted a handful of passes from brohm that were right on the money but were dropped. Tight spirals vs. edwards lame duck wobbels is a huge difference. I think Brohm has the tools to be a great QB still but it's really tough when your supposed supporting cast plays like dookie and makes you look bad. I hope he stays. I like his Character, his passion for the game and the fact that he can scramble as he showed last night since we are one injury away from a tretchorous offensive line. If you ask me if trent were to go down in regular season who would play as the backup, i would still choose Brohm all day. What does everyone think about who is 2nd string?
  22. Offense - Start practicing screens and draws. I haven't seen the Bills use the screen pass or draw play effectivly in over 6 seasons. I remember back in our hayday, a screen play would go for 20-30 yards easy... plus draws that would keep our offense from being so damn predictable and keep the opposing defenses guessing. Play actions, are they too hard to pull off with our line.. maybe but it's preseason. I have seen only a handful in this preseason. Now i know that they are working on the basics but as far as working on these things now, i think it's pretty crucial to develope a timing now before the season starts. Defense - BLITZ EVERY FREAKING PLAY.. no joke. I would like to see a blitz on every down and i don't give a sheet if we give up a big pass play again... it's preseason. We have to have our linebackers searching for the gaps more often to get used to the looks and pass protections the lines are going to give. I don't care if we just go man on man every play with the corners and safties and soley send in our LB's on different sides but they DEFINITLY need practice. Has anyone seen a positive sign of forward progress on the pass rush. I think our Pass rush might be just as dire as our O-Line. Have a feeling that QB's are going to have all day against us. Injuries are going to happen.. it's football. But any team who is projected the bottom rung of their division should be letting their 4th preseason game be another 2 quarter practice (at least) for the starters. Disagree if you may but with the exception of Spiller and Evans, I think both sides of the ball in every position need more game time in this Detroit game. I'd be disappointed if he lets trent play 2 series and out. For those that say "what if he goes down then our entire season is screwed" i say we're in that boat now anyways. The guy needs more time in Chan's system. Just my take on this upcoming Detroit game. One more thing... I am probably the only guy on this board that thinks they shouldn't remove a preseason game to add a regular season game. Think of where we would be without an extra game to get a brand new defensive scheme, a brand new offensive system in place before regular season. While it sounds good to those teams that are going on their 6th 7th year with the same program, teams making adjustments like ours are going to need the experience of 4 games IMO.

  24. I will post the poll that was made from before preseason to see if it's changed after 2 games of QB play.
