Not assuming anything, and that's the point. You don't make the decision based on an assumption either way. You weigh potential risk & reward and factor in probability.

Look, we will NEVER agree on this one. So let's leave it at that. I will point out that it was NOT the reason we lost the game. And that's why I get annoyed with the clowns on WGR.
-
And one more thing... and be honest. What would you be saying today if the run (or pass) had failed, and the Saints were handed the ball at the Bills 28, eight minutes left, up by ten? Probably trashing Jauron either way, I'll bet. Me? I can at least give the guy credit for making the right call. That's all. I'm done.
Counterpoint....what would YOU be saying today had they gone for it and made it to keep the drive alive. There are many "what if's" but had we got the win, would you have called Jauron out.

I am a BILLS FAN.
Absolutely!
P.S. Rande - We were one of the last to leave the lot last night. Had a nice fire going and it was tough to get up from my camp chair....GO BILLS!!!

For what it's worth, Herm Edwards picked the Bills to upset New Orleans on ESPN radio today. He stated that we should be 2-0 and are playing good ball. He also went on to say that the Bills play differently at home and the "collegiate atmosphere" and noise make it very difficult for visiting teams. He further added, "it starts when you arrive at the hotel and continues until you leave the airport..."

Very nice post Bill! It has been a long offseason and we are all certainly ready for some football. "No one circles the wagon's like the Buffalo Bills" and the same can be said for their fans. Now let's get out there and kick some * patsie @$$!!!!
LET'S GO BUFFALO!!!!!!

Had the same issues watching the Giants/Skins game. They also had some feed problems and the game cut out on several occasions.

I doubt you'll ever catch "flax" on this board for preferring a sport over an exercise in hillbill-ery.
Football in any form (with the exception of the CFL), is better than NASCAR IMHO. I usually turn on the car races when I want to catch some ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Apparently, Collinsworth recently addressed the video in question:
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/...-year-old-clip/
Another objective news story by NBC. The guy was nice to my son so I really can't flame him for something he did 25 years ago. Way to cover the story. Collinsworth has always been a jack@$$ and now we can add pervert to the list.

One of my favorite lines from Animal House (see below). Bluto rules!!!!!

I've spent a lot of time in Albany for work as well.
Jillian's has walls (literally) of TVs.
Bayou is my favorite bar dowtown, it's the only place I've found in Albany that serves Molson Canadian.
Victory Cafe is the cheapest place to drink and has a good burger.
McGeary's is a Buffalo style neighborhood bar. They actually have a pretty good Beef on Weck.
They're all on or really close to Pearl St.
Lark Street might be worth a look as well. There are a couple of sports bars.
I forgot about McGeary's. Used to go there quite a bit for lunch and after work when I was at the Leo O'Brien Federal Building. Very good food and atmosphere!

Jillian's is a good place to watch the game but the food is so/so. Downtown, I would probably catch the game at Bayou Cafe, which has a nice bar and good food. If you want good wings downtown and a small pub atmosphere, I like the Hill Street Cafe on Madison Ave. (near Times Union Center). All these places will have the game on (with sound).
If you are willing to drive a little, my personal favorite is Ravenswood in Clifton Park. Good food and very reasonable drink prices. Should be some other Bills fans there but certainly fewer since the game is televised. I might head over there myself with a few other Bills Backers to watch.
Hope this helps and enjoy your stay in Albany! GO BILLS!

I'll go off the board and take Kelly....

I don't hold much stock in opening lines. Watch the line as the week goes on to see where the $$ is going, especially over the weekend. With homefield advantage, *NE is only laying 7.5, which is very surprising. I would think that the opening line would be more like -13 or -13.5.

Very interesting article. Reminds me of an acronym I heard in the military...KISS (keep it simple stupid). Although our former OC would equate a simplified offensive game plan to "Pop Warner", this article demonstrates that pro teams can succeed by keeping the game plan simple, yet multi-dimensional based upon the defensive schemes presented by the opposing team.

Thanks ND! With a shirt like that, he can't be all that bad.

Glad to see he dressed up for the PC. What the hell is on his t-shirt?

No surprise here really. In the week 2 game versus the Bills, the ends of the upper sections were covered. A sunny 80+ degree day early in the season and they have to resort to blocking off sections of their stadium. Pathetic.
Here is a novel idea, donate tickets to local charities to fill those sections and avoid blackout. Must be a taxable writeoff for this, game gets televised, more viewers more excitement, which hopefully draws more paying customers.

All I gotta say is that Marv Levy had some assistant coaches who brawled it out in a training class one year, can't recall who though. Special teams coach and D line coach over blocking schemes and what players the will utilize in kickoff coverages?
It just seems to me that you would want coaches, players with a competitive fire on your pro football team. I would really like to see some fire in ole Dickeys eyes for once,or even in his voice.
The Chin, out on the sidelines yelling at players at the top of his lungs and spittle flying out of his mouth, cursing out a player who missed a key assignment, then goes over and pats him and says get it right next time....YEAH BABY!
The Tuna giving his rookie CB the nickname "toast" because he misses so many coverages, always fighting with his QB and making him focus on assignments....YEAH BABY!
You can look at the Raiders as dysfunctional... or you can look at them and say, that head coach has fire inside, lets see where it takes him.
It's one thing to get into it with a player or another coach, even to the point of it turning into a shoving match, but to actually assault someone and break their jaw is another thing entirely. There is "competitive fire" and then there is dysfunctional behavior made to look like "competitive fire".
-
IMO, Jauron AKA Casper Milktoast and Tom Cable are at two ends of the spectrum. I would be happy with a coach with a demeanor somewhere in the middle. The nice guy sh-- is getting old!!!

I am used to it. Just don't do it again.
Remember, she is my d-a-u-g-h-t-e-r.
Youngest of three beauties who (as the ladies here will quickly inform you) get their looks from Mrs. Rock!
Also:
Maggie was on the ladies side.
Daughter learned to do the straight razor shave by practicing on me. She has gotten very good at it.
The Men's Club is great. I got a gift certificate for a haircut, shave, face wrap with hot and cold towels, foot whirlpool bath, foot massage, and pedicure (the footwork by a sweet young lady who was not my daughter). Even the chair I reclined in was a massage from the neck to the waist.
I had an Irish coffee while waiting for the shave and Jack on the rocks for the pedicure.
Sign me up for that treatment. There is nothing quite like a straight razor shave...and for the pedicure, i'll take a Glenlivet neat.

A REAL field general like George S. Patton.

I was quite shocked that we did not take Brown when he dropped into the second round. Based upon our lackluster corps of d-ends, I thought for sure we would grab him. I am a big FSU fan and have had an opportunity to watch Brown on numerous occasions and believe that this guy is the real deal at end. No surprise that he is making an impression in Carolina.
When I heard the selection of Byrd, I nearly fell out of my lawn chair in the parking lot at "The Ralph"....then again, I did have a few beers that day...

Don't tell me Bruce was last...I couldn't watch last night (going to watch it later in the week with a friend) and my DVR was set to go 3 hours.
They will certainly be replaying this during the week. I thought it was supposed to be on this afternoon. Set your DVR for 4 hours and you should be good to go. It went from 7PM until around 10:50PM with some post comments. Wrapped up by 11PM.
