  1. Good job guys! Now I hope the ratings supported the move so that you don't have to deal with that silliness again. <_<

Being a huge fan in the Capital District and one of countless callers and e-mail originators, I am sure that the ratings did not disappoint. They certainly were much better than if they had shown the Indy/Minn game.

  2. I know you're making this up because the Jags don't have fans. The seats in the stadium today were filled with Bills jerseys, droids fitted to look like Jags fans and tarps with corporate ads on them

I could not believe my eyes! Home opener and the the upper tier seats have several sections that are blocked off with tarps. Numerous empty seats throughout game in lower level. Seemed to fill up during third quarter when Jax mounted a comeback but more empty seats in the last quarter. What pathetic fans. Great to see all of the Bills fans in the stadium. I swore I heard "Shout" after our opening drive.....

    GO BILLS!

  3. Arrogance or ignorance by Furlong and others at CBS 6 (WRGB). What a complete jerk. After reading his original comments and then his retraction, I can't figure out what was worse.

Great job to all the Bills Backers in the CD for all of their calls and e-mails to the station! I also called a few times and the receptionist I spoke to said they had several hundred calls and e-mails.

Personally, I still plan to watch the game at a local pub (Peckham's Place in Scotia) where they have reserved an entire room JUST for Bills fans. There is nothing like watching a game around other fired up Bills fans that adds to the overall experience. If I have to pay $$ for some beers and good pub food, so be it. :P

Now on to Jax to kick some kitty cat @$$!!!

    GO BILLS!

  4. Strange as it sounds, I'm going to go with the old standby MVP from the last 3-4 years: Brian Moorman

When the game was a 3-&-out field position battle in the first quarter, he outplayed his counterpoint so badly that it got to the point where we had to go 50 yards when they had to go 85. That was absolutely huge. And then, from deep in his zone Quackemeier tried to do more than he was capable of in the face of such awesomeness, driving one beyond his coverage and getting it returned for 6 to break the game open.

I can't argue any Bill (maybe Stroud) having as big an impact on the outcome. And that's not even considering the TD pass.

Good point about Moorman. He is an incredible talent. He also had the fumble recovery which was huge....how often do you see a punter at the bottom of a pig pile!!!

  5. I've been to Seattle and actually saw a game there. Their fans are pathetic and the tailgating is poor. They are a bunch of latte chugging mo's who are huge fairweather fans. There were also women in "searat" jersey's knitting and many of their fans seemed uniterested or even bored. Capuccino and espresso bars in a stadium....WTF!

Action on the field tomorrow will certainly speak louder than anything or anyone on their boards. Prepare to be thumped searat fans because after tomorrow, you will be starting the season at 0-1.

    GO BILLS!

  6. Rogers has had injuries going back to college at Texas (yes, college injuries count). That's why he dropped to the second round. Stroud is hardly more injury prone than him.

Both players match off pretty evenly in number of games started in their seven seasons (98 games for Rogers (353 tkls and 29 sacks) and 100 games for Stroud (274 tkls and 22 sacks). Both have had their share of injuries. My point was that Rogers played 16 games last season and Stroud played 9 games. The season before, Rogers was out with injuries and only played in 6 games. Stroud played 11 games. Prior to 2006, Stroud played all 16 games for five seasons.

I love the acquisition of Stroud but my prior point was that he has lately (last two seasons) had some injuries so my only concern is his durability as the season wears on. If he can stay healthy, he will be a force. As others have also stated, he is not a headcase and "shows up" for every game.

    Go Bills!

  7. Rogers played for Jauron and he's younger than Stroud. He also hasn't had an injury history like Stroud's. All that being said, I'm still glad we got Stroud on our team. He's a massive upgrade from anything we've had around here since the Adams and Williams days. He will make our defense better, no question.

Rogers is only a year younger than Stroud. He is also bigger, more durable (less injury prone), and IMO a better athlete. Rogers downside was that he wanted big money as an elite DT and has some motivation problems (Jauron would have not had a problem getting him to fire on all cylinders). However, I like Stoud and as long as he can stay healthy, will provide us a big, stout lineman over the middle who can certainly stop the run (ala Pat Williams, Ted Washington, and Sam Adams) and also shake things up in the opposing teams backfield. Paired up with Kyle Williams, I am pumped about what our D-Line will do this year.

  8. And your spelling is "alot" like my beagle's. Can't be voting for Obama, that's for certain. You'd have had to have made it past fifth grade English.

In fairness, I wouldn't get too exercised about it. The Redskins are biting the big green weenie, and this game is going to be in the books by about 9:30 P.M. Plenty early enough for Grandpa to give us a bedtime story.

What intellect. My apologies for droping the "l". You probably also resent the fact that you had to pay for your ivy league diploma. I served in the military for six years and after several deployments (my final one being during the first gulf war), was honorably discharged and received a bachelors degree in business. No, I am not too "excercised about it" but just resent insolent punks like yourself.

Enjoy the game tonight and for your sake, hopefully it will be a blowout because at 9:31P.M., it will be time for you to suck on your beagle's big green weenie.

  9. I've heard many here say not to worry, that Evans will be signed to a long term extension of his current contract which is in its last year. Well the season starts this Sunday and he's still not signed. This after the Bills spent money like drunken sailors on above average to below average players in '07. What gives here? The Bills supposedly made themselves a sweetheart deal with Toronto, moved home games out of Wilson Stadium and fans like me feel like they are not 100% committed to winning. Allow me to also bring Peters into the conversation. This is another player that I would call a "star" player. I think he's on the level of an offensive version of a young Bruce Smith. Yet the Bills can't seem to get the ball rolling and are holding firm in their beliefs that all players on their roster should be dealt with as equals. I know that the agent and Peters have also been at fault, but I still think the Bills are not sending a very good message with their lack of reaching out. The fact is that Peters has outplayed his current contract by a whole lot. The Bills have a boatload of newly found money and are acting as if they would rather save money by letting a player leave via free agency or sit on the sidelines, than pay a top dollar contract for any player regardless of how good they are or what they've done for this team. Ralph isn't poor. He has the money, his team is supposedly on the cusp of of the next great era of Bills football, yet he's acting like a small minded skinflint with their best players on the team. I just don't get it. I'm disheartened by the lack of any movement on either front. I should be filled with hope for the long term future success of the Buffalo Bills, but this is not the case heading into this season. I know that we're all excited about the new season, I just wanted to share my concerns about this organization here and see if anyone else felt the same way.

It certainly is not just about the money. The Bills organization has been more than fair and in my opinion, too generous at times with some of the re-negotiated contracts they have given other players. However, in the Peters situation, he has not so much as made one phone call to the organization (as far as we know) other than to speak with Derrick Dockery. He is coming off groin surgery and I agree with the organizations stance that he shows up, plays and then they will consider re-writing his contract after the season. Yes, he is in my opinion underpaid for his position but nobody put a gun to his head when he signed his last contract. He needs to honor it and show up PERIOD. Also, he owes some loyalty to the organization who gave an unknown TE from U. Arkansas a shot as an undrafted free agent, worked with him refining his skills and saw that he was better suited to play on the o-line.

Regarding Lee Evans, I agree that it is critical that they put a deal together but as another person stated, the Bills organization is only one side of the equation. On the advice of his agent, he may waiting to see how the season pans out.

It is not about the organization having "deep pockets" as it is about setting precedence with respect to player contracts. Yeah it would suck not to have Peters play this year and to lose Evans would be a major loss for our team. But how the organization handles itself (especially with Peters) certainly will have ramifications for many years to come.
