  1. But a very valid point that was made earlier was taking into consideration the money spent in defending such claims. Regardless of if it ever goes to trial, in many instances, businesses and individuals must "lawyer up" to defend such actions. A significant amount of money that in the case of commercial claims, is passed along to John and/or Jane Q. Consumer, et. al.

  2. Watch daytime television where every other commercial is for an ambulance chaser looking for a case. It is no wonder that there are so many frivilous lawsuits out there. Some people have an aversion to an honest days work, so after their "paycheck" for unemployment runs out (yes, I have heard people refer to both SSI and unemployment as "their paycheck"), they resort to this type of non-sense and get another kind of "paycheck".

  3. that game was the game that broke me as a Billiever no matter what. I sat in the stadium that day with friends all around me and anyone could think I was a Browns fan that day. I swore that I wouldn't openly cheer for them until DJ was fired I can't remember if it was any games or how many games after that he was fired but I'm glad he was to say the least.

I was at that game as well. I left in the 4th quarter to go out and start the BBQ grill and wash away my sorrows with a few beers. One of the worst games I had ever seen. I kept saying to myself, I drove 4 1/2 hours to watch that $&^#. At least the tailgate was good and got to watch several idiots set a couch on fire and then proceed to jump on it while it was fully engulfed in flames. Certainly much more entertaining than the football game.

  4. I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience Rev and also, thank you for your service! I took both my boys (age 10 and 8) to their first game last year (pre-season game versus Jax) which I also believe was "kid's night". We parked at Hammer's and had a great time tailgating. There were several families in the lot and my kids met several other kids and they played football while the parents mingled and had a few beers. We had absolutely no issues walking to/from the stadium or while we were at the game. Mostly families around us (we sat in section 107) and it was a great experience for my kids first game, which they still talk about.

I brought my youngest (who is more of a football fan) to the Miami game last December. I would not normally bring either of them to a regular season game, but I received two free tickets in the Jim Kelly Club. Some minor bad language and a few drunks (who were thrown out immediately) but nothing major and to be honest, my son was more focused on the game and the many concession food choices and really didn't notice. Biggest thing was that I told them both about what they could see and hear at the game. I have heard the same expletives at the fair, the mall, in restaurants, etc. and unfortunately, it is the world we live in.

Personally, I would give it another try and hopefully you will have the same experience that we have had. GO BILLS!

  5. Why did Mario Williams n ot play today? ANd where was Anderson, our other pass rusher? Are they injured?

Our vaunted defense sucked. Allowing RG!!! to run up and down the field scoring at will. I thought our defense supposeadly had improved.

ANd where was Fred Jackson? No running game excpet for Choice? He sucked. 5 attempts at going over the goal line at one and goal.

And he could not do ****.Just get rid of his ass.He sucks. And Lindell missing a field goal! What is with this team? Scary! I better start drinking

Start drinking? From your comments, it sounds like you were half in the bag before the game started. Where was Anderson??? He was the player that dove on the pile at the end of a running play. Not sure how you could have missed him. Where was Mario Williams? Played first series.

All of the doom and gloom comments are quite frankly ridiculous IMHO at this stage. It was our first pre-season game and for many of the players, the first time they played professional players from an opposing team. That is the point of pre-season ball. To give coaches the ability to evaluate all players, many of whom have had few if any touches in the NFL. Starters play one or two series and ride the pine the rest of the game.

If it makes people feel any better, I was watching multiple pre-season games last night on NFL.com and even the vaunted pats** looked like $*&@. Some people need to f'ing chill before going postal on this team.

  6. Sign me up for the pre-season package. For me, I have not had much success in watching the live streams (blackouts, poor picture quality, choppy video, no audio, etc, etc etc). Just not worth it. During the season, I enjoy going to the games or watch at a local bar with friends, which is why I do not subscribe during the regular season. Thanks for the info on the NFL Rewind. I am interested and may sign up for this as well.

  7. I have 11 and 9 year old boys and I thought that a good way to introduce them to Bills football would be to take them to a pre-season game. We parked at Hammer's Lot and set up our tailgate. Other families were there and the boys ended up playing in a pick-up football game with a bunch of other kids and had a blast while the adults enjoyed some great food and beverages. It could not have been a better evening all around and both of my kids (especially my youngest) enjoy the game of football and are huge Bills fans. Make it fun for them and they will be chomping to go to more games but certainly do not miss out on the tailgate aspect. GO BILLS!

  8. After reading this, I went back and watched his first news conference again after becoming a Buffalo Bill. I thought he carried himself extremely well and was well spoken and confident. He answered questions clearly and concisely and carried himself extremely well. The same cannot be said for many players not only in the NFL but outside of sports as well. I have heard people in business, politicians and the like that cannot string two sentences together and sound like they did not make it past the third grade. Yet when you look at their background, they have graduated from some pretty prestigious schools of higher learning.

  9. We will not park anywhere else but Hammers! Eric and his crew are fantastic and we had a blast last year, especially at the opener. I believe we were one of the last ones to leave (Batavia Party Zone Crew). Great place to tailgate with old friends and new and I cannot wait to get back out there!

    GO BILLS!

  10. I would love to be with all my friends at Hammer's but, wife changed our plans. So I gave my tickets away.

Can't make next weeks game. We are going to try and make a Sabers game.

Wife and I are waiting on my daughter to see if we will be going to the pats game. She is taking her office sales people to the game and will be sitting in the Liberty Mutual's box next to the owner's box. If she has left over seats we will be going.

Sorry to see that you and the wife are not going. You and the stromboli's will be missed!!!

Bringing my son out for his first regular season game as I got free tickets in the Jim Kelly Club. Looking forward to meeting up with old and new friends at Hammer's!!!

    GO BILLS!

  11. I'm not lost. I'm saying that you're too presumptive. Especially when you consider the Bills record the past ten years and HOW we got to 3-0 by the skin of our teeth this season.

I do not believe that I am being presumptive. I know what our record has been but taking into consideration the number of games we lost by 3 points or less last year and our level of play this year, I feel we have a legitimate team going forward. Have you heard me mention superbowl or playoffs once??? No. Our secondary is giving up too many big plays and the pass rush is just not there yet. I believe you would agree that we are going in the right direction.

As far as being 3-0, a win is a win Pearl, regardless of the number of points we won by.

  12. I think you mean presuming the Bills improve.

Also, the Jets have been in the AFC Championship game the past two years while the Bills haven't been in the playoffs for 11 seasons.

I wonder if Giants and Jets fans in Albany and elsewhere, if they're aware of this story, are laughing at us Bills fans?

People on this board need to calm down. We're 3-0 and two of those games went down to the wire and we won those two games by a total of six points. Both home games.

Yes Pearl, sorry I lost you but did not feel that I needed to specify "Bills" as they were referenced several times in the post.

Giants and Jets fans I have talked to are not laughing at us, in fact many felt the article by Ms. Gish was dumb and did not belong on the front page of the TU sports section.

BS WEO. good or bad, true blue bills fans defend their team against moronic posts by clueless writers.

I agree 100%. There still would have been a strong response regardless. No response, really?!?!

  13. Harsh? Sorry if I was harsh. I did not mean to be harsh or show any disrespect to the Albany Bills fans. I would expect that there are a lot of WNY transplants in the area. How many are in your Albany Bills Backers chapter?

My past experience, which is way past (as in 1977 thru 1981), is that Albany is Giants territory, with some Jets fans too. Once upon a time we Bills fans were the subject of Bills jokes and slurs about Buffalo and Rochester from the good folks from the CD (kind of like in Ms. Gish’s article only 30 years prior). I am sure these fine citizens were only joking and there were no hard feelings either way, just college kid stuff.

My point about crossing Albany off the list as Bills territory is more geographical and is proven by the TV networks and which game the select to cover. Why would an Albanite (or is it Albanian?) drive 5+ hours to a Bills game when he can go to a Giants/Jets game in half the time? Do the Bills market heavily in the area like they do in Rochester and in Southern Ontario?

I go to Binghamton for business on occasion and watch Bills games with majority Jets and Giants fans in the sports bars. If I ever get to the fair city of Albany again I will look up the Albany Bills Backers. If you ever make it out to St. Louis please come watch the game with the Bills Backers in our town.

    Cheers!

I personally am not a member of the Albany Bills Backers Club and do not know how many are former WNY transplants. I am also not a transplant from WNY. I grew up loving Western NY sports because my mom is originally from Cheektowaga so following any other team in football and hockey was simply not an option. I am sure that some of the Bills fans in this area are transplants from WNY, but most that I know were born and raised in this area like myself. Many also have season tickets and drive 5+ hours to see the Bills for every home game, regardless of the weather. Some of these diehards, whom I also consider to be some of my best friends, make the trek because they love Buffalo Bills football. There are numerous other fans that cannot make the trip out for Bills games but are still passionate about their team.

There are certainly more Giants fans in this area than Bills fans and the number of Jets fans in the CD is also greater, but certainly by a smaller margin. I think the margin between Bills and Jets fans in this area will close further as Buffalo continues to improve. During the glory years, Bills games were always televised in this area and even when their play declined, a local station (WNYT) would give fans the opportunity to vote on the game they wanted to watch. The Bills would be the choice in most instances.

Many Bills fans in this area took great exception to the article that was written by Ms. Gish. Some people on TwoBillsDrive felt that by responding to her, it would only give her greater exposure and attention. Maybe so. However, if someone bad mouths my country, I am going to communicate my displeasure with that individual. Same goes for my football team.

Next time you are down this way, send me a PM and we will meet up for a game. You can meet some of the warriors from the CD that bleed Bills red, white and blue. I will also take you up on the invitation if I am out in St. Louis. BTW, the best prime rib dinner I have ever had was in St. Louis. I stopped there overnight while I was driving across the United States to head to my first duty station on the west coast.

Take care Bob and GO BILLS!

  14. ^^

Well, you called it. The fans that trashed her have now given her a bigger stage.

I avoided this thread and will propbably regret jumping in here, but to the people that wrote the negative comments to the first article you did nothing to help the perception of Bills fans or the city. You only reinforced her point.

My dealings with people from Albany go back to the late 70's and early 80's. I was a student at RIT and even back then the Albany people that I met where Giants fans and they seeemed to enjoy mocking both Buffalo and Rochester. I sensed some kind elitest attitude because they were from the state capitol. Later, I lived in Pittsfield, MA and worked for GE as a coop student (intern). There were many Albany people working at GE at the time. The Bills were in the best part of the Chuck Knox era and even then there was no kinship between them and the Bills. They were Giants/Jets fans and they had an arrogance to them. My exposure to people from Albany was not good.

Let's cross Albany of the list of potential Bills turf and move on.

Who cares what this writer thinks. Let's not validate her any further by writing her back.

Not sure why I am validating your post Bob, but that was some pretty harsh stuff about people from the CD. Quid pro quo....could it have been YOU that was offensive in YOUR behavior towards "those Albany people"? Before YOU cross US off YOUR list, stop back this way some time and catch a Bills game with us. You may not like everyone, but there will probably be a few of us that are good natured who also happen to enjoy our beloved Buffalo Bills.

For PearlHowardMan, I hear that the Bills game may not be carried next week in the Syracuse area in favor of the Giants-Seahawks game. How does it feel to walk in our shoes....

  15. He is full of crappacola. I still remember when WNYT used to run a call in fan poll in the 90's to let the fans pick which game got broadcast. I believe its shared territory for the Bills and Jets (and perhaps New England). My guess is WRGB didn't want to air a game the same time as the Giants.

I remember the fan polls also when WNYT used to carry the AFC games. Buffalo would be the consistent choice and they would show that game.

Even though the Bills/NE* game is at the same time that the Giants are on, I still think that this would draw good viewing numbers as CBS-6 viewing area is not only the Capital District, but also covers Western Mass and Southern Vermont, which would pull in NE* fans.

Oh well, I guess I have to go to my local watering hole for some beer and wings to watch the game. :w00t:

  16. Stadium lots do not open until 9 (4 hours before the game) and you have to be out by 6 (2 hours after). Like previous poster stated, lots 2 and 3 along Abbott are Disney style parking. Lot 5a and 5b (Tundra Lots) are like before where you can park anywhere.

After parking at Hammer's last week, I will NEVER park in the stadium lots again. Pinto Kenny Show and tailgating with fellow TBD members made for a great day. We arrived early and left late (no traffic at all around 8:30PM). Also did not have to worry about someone @#$)*#& up my car as Hammer and his crew keep a close eye on their lots while everyone is at the game.

    Enjoy the game!

  17. I will be at hammers about 8:30 - 9 will be cooking some Stromboli.( in my awesome new oven)

White trailer blazer or will be around our friends gold colored convertible with black top.(Chrysler)

Thanks again for the fantastic stromboli's Rande and enjoy the game! I had a great time last week meeting everyone from TBD for the opener. I hope everyone enjoyed the clams at our post-game party!

My buddy Scott will be out this weekend and I told him to look for you guys at Hammer's.

    GO BILLS!
