  1. A lot of what I have been reading has Watkins to TB at 7. I think that if Watkins and Mack are off the board the Bills should trade down. There's a bunch of guys that they could get their hands on in the middle to late 1st.

    Okay.

So we're saying 3-4 QBs, Clowney, and Watkins before the Bills pick?

With Vincent Jackson, a healthy Mike Williams, a healthy Doug Martin, and Watkins, you're giving Glennon a lot of nice weapons.

  2. I'm in the camp that the Bills need to draft a RB this year.

Not in the first round but as early as the 2nd if the guy is really good.

Also I used to want the Bills to add a bruising back but now I'd like to see them get a 3-down back who combines the best traits of Freddy and CJ.

That Alabama back last night was big AND fast.

  3. any CJ sighting on sideline ?

    Good question.

I'm pretty sure we won't see Chris Hairston.

In fact I'm not sure any of us will ever see Hairston again.

    He's mysteriously disappeared.

Watkins, mack, barr 1st round, so now do we need to change the topic to draft. I wanted to talk about Hyde!

I'm glad the game is close so that the running game remains a factor.

  4. I see Watkins is listed at 6'1" and 205.

Just like Justin Blackmon, he appears larger than his actual size to me.

Sammy Watkins at 9 please. Reminds of a young Andre Johnson. Sammy is 6'1, Andre is 6'3, but very similar in how they play the game

    Yes.

This is the first time I've seen Watkins play but he dominates the ball and plays with a lot of aggression.

    Very similar to AJ.

  5. First time I've seen Boyd this year.

One of the things I love about him is his strong frame and the way he plays the game.

He's really a football player at QB.

I love how Watkins plays too. Plucks the ball, plays with an attitude.

  6. see below, and how to.

Click on your original post, it will say edit and use full editor. In full editor you will be able to change the Thread Title.

For tags I suggest SJBF is bossy. and he better know I am kidding.

Even if you weren't, what am I gonna do about it?

    Oh that's right.

    I can make lavender jokes!

  7. watching bowl game I really like Hyde what are your thoughts? Reminds me a little bit of Lacy.

OP, can you change the topic name to Clemson-Ohio State Live Game Thread?

There are probably a lot of people watching this game and there are a lot of prospects of interest in this game.

It would be a good heads-up for a lot of posters here.

    Thanks.

  8. You may not want to pick OTs early but several GMs in the league always do in every draft. That's the difference between a guy who is paid to select players, in fact, his job depends on selecting good players, and the guy who watches TV from his easy chair while snacking on beer and chips.

Then there are the draftniks and so-called media draft experts, most of who have very little basis for their status as experts.

I'm going to throw this out there and I'm sure it has been discussed before, but don't be surprised if we take Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix / S / Alabama with our 1st.

    Surely you must be kidding?

Wouldn't surprise me. The Bills are typically behind league trends by a few years and know by now that having a large WR or more athletic TE is what most good offenses have. Besides, they've invested in a first round pick and need to provide him more weapons if he's going to succeed. I think this team goes offense in round 1, as they did last year.

    Sounds good to me.

The Bills are on the cusp of great things. I would like to see them continue to stockpile defense with attacking players, and to fortify our lines and dominate the line of scrimmage.

    This sounds good too.

I know some disagree with me but I think the talent level on the roster is good enough that the Bills can put more weight on BPA than need.

  9. Oh I agree and will guarantee he refused, but it had nothing to do with that phone call. There was no way in hell Fitz was going to tear up a $59M contract with $24M guaranteed. His agent probably has that thing framed on his wall. Why not keep that guaranteed money and make an extra $6.5M in Tennessee doing the same thing he would be doing here? The way Fitz worked the system you would think he was a Harvard economics major or something. Good for him, good guy, sub-par arm.

    Agreed.

And we were discussing the silliness of wishing that the Bills would have "retained" Fitz instead of getting Kolb.

It was never a plausible scenario IMO.

  10. It's worth mentioning here the draft status of the 5 guards who were named All Pro:

Of the two guards that were first team All Pro, Louis Vaszquez and Evan Mathis were 3rd rounders.

Of the 2nd team All Pros, Josh Sitton and Jahri Evans were 4th rounders.

Logan Mankins was a first rounder.

    FWIW.

  11. This discussion reminds me of last year.

Everyone has their favorites every year.

Last year there were lots of people who liked each of the following QBs (in no particular order): Tyler Wilson, Tyler Bray, Nassib, Barkley, Glennon, Zac Dyert, Landry Jones, Matt Scott, etc.

Without really knowing, I sense that a lot of the names being bandied about right now will not have significant careers in the NFL.

I liked Tajh Boyd last year and I was intrigued by Matt Scott.

EJ was my top QB last year though.

  12. It really didn't matter what Fitz desired, he was under contract and for a hefty sum.

I'm pretty sure the Bills asked him to take a pay cut and that Fitz refused.

Others will correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes. Several people on this board could've told him how the Colin Brown experiment would go down.

I was a bit surprised how much he sucked actually.

I remember Brown filled in at center for the last two weeks of 2011 after Eric Wood got injured and the reviews were that he played well.

  13. I'm a bit concerned about his knees too.

My concerns are somewhat allayed by the fact that he played 47 games in college, threw nearly 900 times, was sacked 64 times, and ran the ball nearly 300 times without ever sustaining an injury which caused him to miss a game.

So his background up till now has been that he's been very durable.

Hopefully this year was an aberration.

  14. I thought the two best Bills this year were Cordy Glenn and Leodis McKelvin.

The voting is based on reputation which is aided and abetted by winning and market size.

As much as I'm happy to see two Bills get named, I question how deserving Mario and Byrd are.

Mario still disappears for long stretches and Byrd started in just 10 games. But they're both big names that the media is familiar with.

I have a real hard time believing that any of the O-tackles had a better year than Cordy Glenn. Peters looked excellent the few times I watched him closely but the others looked ordinary to me.

  15. 'Bama looked big and slow to me last night.

It reminded me of the 1981 Orange Bowl when a faster, smaller Clemson team beat up on a bigger but slower Nebraska team to win the National Championship.

That 'Bama running back is pretty damn good though and I thought Mosley looked pretty good the times I was watching him.

  16. http://www.torontosun.com/2014/01/03/buffalo-bills-rogers-set-to-meet-in-two-weeks?two-bills-drive

"Representatives from the two sides are scheduled to sit down together during the week of Jan. 12, according to a source in the position to know who wished not to be identified.

While the source would not say who called the meeting and why, nor what is on the agenda, it is more than possible -- probably likely -- that the purpose is to discuss the future of the disappointing series, which sees the Bills annually relocate one of their eight regular-season home games to Toronto’s Rogers Centre."

  17. Knight is a redshirt freshman playing in his 8th career game.

He split time with Blake Bell at QB.

I believe this was Knight's 4th career start.

He was 32-44 for 348 yards and 4 TDs against a team that was a 17 point favorite in a major bowl game.

    You guys weren't impressed?
