Bills blew the 1st round of the draft....
VOR replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fantasies? LOL! I wish that 2 TD's, 5 INT's, 3 fumbles, and 0-3 in the division was a "fantasy." Unfortunately it's been a very sad reality. And hey, put Hamdan in there for all it matters. -
I'd like to see that smarmy prick Mike Pereira explain that one.

Bills blew the 1st round of the draft....

Actually it's a QB who has been turning the ball over that's been hurting the Bills more. As I said to Skoobs, the Bills' O-line was considered a strength after last season. -

The Bills liked Butler enough to eventually give him an extension/raise. They weren't going to draft Albert, much less to start. -

And play him...where? -
Married for 12 years and have 2 kids. And as I said, I thought my wife was sending me mixed signals. I'm perfectly qualified to answer. Then again, no woman has ever been out of my league.

Blame Polamolu for not reading/following the script.

What has Harvey done? And there isn't always a team that wants to move up. It depends on who is there. -

Yeah, okay. There was a whole list of suitors for the pick. -

Good point. DRC's 1 tackle and 1 pass defensed performance in that game is what decided it. -
Fix the center position and the rest of the O-line will fall into place. Since the Bills don't have the luxury of drafting/signing tons of players, I'd just add center to the above list at this time.

I agree with the "don't date a friend's ex" belief. That is, unless you're absolutely CONVINCED that she's the one, then all bets are off (and if anything, if they break up, you 2 can sneak around and you can find out firsthand if she's the one, but I digress). As for the sister, I agree with Deano, except about doing the sister (which was a joke on his part). Forget the abused chick, date the sister, and treat her great, but don't lead her on (since you obviously carry a torch for her sister/your friend). Then again, the sister might surprise you.

whatever happened to that thread about the Rams?

I guess nullifying Haslett's contract turned out to be moot, and maybe for the best for the Rams. Looks like he won't achieve that "games won" trigger anyway. -

The Cards are the worst team in passing TD's allowed and 11th worst in average yards per pass. In 2007, they were 8th worst in TD's allowed and 18th worst in average yard per pass. -
What?! The O-line was looked-on as a strength after last season. They allowed the fewest sacks in franchise history and Lynch rushed for over 1,100 yards with a 4.0 YPC despite missing several games. If anything was a concern, it was getting another (#2) WR and short-yardage, and Hardy and the addition of a FB were supposed to help that. It's called "turnabout." You used hindsight, and so did I. Trent's had 0 time behind center? Wrong. And his INT's weren't the result of getting hit while throwing so that doesn't wash, and he should have kept the ball more secure when getting sacked. His forte was supposed to be making smart, quick decisions and not turning the ball over. For some reason, that changed.

Bills blew the 1st round of the draft....

When? At the 11th overall pick? Those were DRC's first INT's of the year. And the Cards have less talent at CB than the Bills do, hence the more chances DRC got to play. -
Once again, hindsight is a wonderful thing. After last season, few Bills fans had concerns about the O-line (except for center) and QB. Now it's a huge concern. But the Bills weren't going to draft an OL in the first round, much less a center. So that removes that part of the equation. As for defense, the DE's are the problem and after Harvey, there was no player worthy of the 11th overall selection. And IIRC there were no offers to trade down. But looking back in hindsight, McKelvin wasn't as much of a luxury pick as you claim. McGee was hurting for several games and couldn't be a returnman AND CB. Again the problems with the team are that the O-line and running game inexplicably went to hell, and Trent is turning the ball over. No one could have forseen these things happening.

Once again, if the kid doesn't play, how can you say much about him? I'll use the Eric Moulds example. Marv Levy refused to play him, but when he DID play, oh boy! But again, the problems with the team the past 3 weeks have NOTHING to do with defense. They're all on the offensive side. Trent has been a turnover machine and the running game has disappeared. After the 4-0 start, who would have predicted that? -

Well, it's not as easy as just saying "I would have taken almost anyone else" after half of a rookie's season. But okay, out of that list of player taken after #11, what player would have ensured that the Bills won any of those last 3 games? -
How so? Looks-wise? You don't make enough money for her type of guy? Too short? Can you at least make her laugh? If you feel she's out of your league, a "best friend" relationship ultimately won't work anyway. I'll assume you mean she's out of your league looks-wise. If that's the case, then sexual feelings WILL get in YOUR way. It depends on what you want. Do you want to be strung along? Or know now?

Yep, she digs you. Ask her out on a real date. At worst, you know where you stand.

Look Skoobs, I know you're new here (from Billszone). We've gone over this stuff. For starters, you can't judge a draft/pick immediately, especially when the coaches won't play a player. I've said several times that the coaches don't know what they've got on the bench, otherwise Jackson and Greer (just to name a couple) would have been playing MUCH sooner than they did last year. And there were no DL worth the 11th overall pick, and I didn't hear of the Bills getting any offers about a trade down. As for OL, again they were happy with their O-line (although they could have used a center, which again wasn't worth near the 11th overall pick) and weren't going to use a 1st rounder on one. -
Sex almost always gets in the way. A man and woman can be best/friends after having a sexual relationship, but almost always not without one first. And what kind of mixed signals? I told my wife she would send me them before we started dating, and she said there was nothing "mixed" about them.
