  1. They have a pretty nice "official tailgating area" directly in front of the stadium called the Great Lawn. The only issue is you can't park directly there unless you have a pass, but everyone brings tents and cooks out and whatnot, sponsor giveaways, etc. It's a bit more of a family atmosphere. The area (AZ) is very spread out as well with Phoenix a bit of a drive from Glendale. There are some bars (Margarittaville) though next to the stadium as well, but can't help you out on where the Bills fans will be. Have fun and GO BILLS!
  2. BULGER GETS BENCHED Posted by Mike Florio on September 23, 2008, 12:09 p.m. As Rams coach Scott Linehan sees his football life flashing before his eyes, he’s doing the one thing that any coach can do to try to save his butt. He’s changing quarterbacks. Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Rams have benched Marc Bulger, and that he’ll be replaced by Trent Green. Last year, the Rams made the same move at a time when Bulger was nursing broken ribs. This time around, Bulger is healthy. Ironically, the guy who replaced Bulger last year was Gus Frerotte, who last week became the starter in Minnesota after Tarvaris Jackson was benched. It’s a far bigger deal in St. Louis, where Bulger received a six-year, $65 million deal in 2007 after missing a day or so of training camp. Roughly 14 months later, Bulger has been yanked from the lineup. The move is surprising but not shocking. Linehan can’t worry about whether the Rams get a return on their investment in Bulger; Linehan needs to win games or he’ll be gone. Meanwhile, Green has regained the gig that he had in 1999, until a preseason hit to the knee from Rodney Harrison opened the door for the ascension of Kurt Warner and the rest of the Greatest Showoffs on Turf.
  3. Just an FYI on getting the photo signed...he may have to personalize it (e.g. To Joe). Many former and current players have memorabilia deals to prohibit re-auction of such items. I've worked with a lot of players and it honestly depends on the setting, their mood, and if their representative is there to tell you "no". Bruce is easy going so you should be good.
  4. Adam Schefter Pro Bowl LT Peters to end holdout, report to Bills Posted: September 5th, 2008 | Adam Schefter | Tags: Buffalo Bills, Jason Peters Even before the games begin, the Buffalo Bills and Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters have their first victory of the season. Peters informed the Bills on Friday that he plans to end his summer-long holdout and report to the team Saturday, one day before Buffalo opens its season against Seattle. The team already has made the decision that Peters will not play Sunday against Seattle. But Peters already has applied to the league for reinstatement and the NFL is expected to grant the Bills a two-game roster exemption. However, Buffalo could opt to activate Peters at any time, and would be expected to do so next week, meaning he would likely be available to play Sept. 14 at Jacksonville. Peters will not be arriving in Buffalo with the new contract he has been seeking. But both sides have agreed to maintain an open dialogue throughout the season with the hopes of striking a deal that will satisfy both sides. Peters has three years left on his contract. Paving the way for Peters arrival were the talks the two sides had throughout the past week, when they began speaking Monday morning for the first time in a long time. Throughout the summer they had limited, if any contract, but with the regular season approaching, both sides recognized the need to open the lines of communication, which they did. Those talks resulted in a compromise that will bolster Buffalo’s offensive line, afford quarterback Trent Edwards more time to throw, and running back Marshawn Lynch more holes to run through. Peters is on his way back, and this is a win even before the season begins. REJOICE!
  5. Agreed, stay at Hyatt or Adams Mark...then walk to Chippewa. I took about ten friends out on Chippewa the night before a Bills game and the look on their faces was priceless when we arrived. Kids in a candy store...awesome night followed by tailgating at 9am. Pictures indicate I had a good weekend, but I don't recall. Have fun, and Go Bills.
  6. this is great...do they air regular season games too?
  7. Thanks for posting...big help for the transplants.
  8. I'll be in Buffalo area this weekend and was wondering if anyone knows of any stores that sell the sewn throwbacks at a good price. I know there's the typical sporting good stores, but I've been trying to get one on Ebay the past couple weeks and get outbid at the last second (probably by some of you!). Curious if anyone knows of any hole in the wall shops...I think Rochester has a couple but not sure about Buffalo. Any help would be appreciated. Go Bills.
  9. I thought it was interesting that 5 of the players below played for the Bills at the same time... PLAYERS SAY THEY WERE SCAMMED IN INVESTMENT Posted by Michael David Smith on August 26, 2008, 3:13 p.m. A group of former and current NFL players has filed a lawsuit against UBS, saying they were swindled out of money in an investment they made through the Swiss bank. The plaintiffs in the lawsuit, which was first reported at TMZ.com, include former NFL quarterbacks Drew Bledsoe, Kelly Holcomb, Rick Mirer, Craig Nall, and Alex Van Pelt, current Saints tight end Mark Campbell and current Eagles long snapper Jon Dorenbos. The lawsuit centers on an investment the players made in a company called Pay by Touch, which allowed consumers to buy products by putting their fingertips on a sensor and having the cost automatically deducted from their checking accounts. The company shut down without notifying its customers in March. (As a customer who regularly used Pay by Touch at my local grocery store, I’m still annoyed.) The players say UBS should be held accountable for the money they lost investing in the company because it concealed the criminal past of John Rogers, the founder of Pay by Touch. TMZ reports that Pay by Touch raised $130 million from investors and ended up making $700,000.
  10. I couldn't agree more with LongLiveRalph. Losman knew that the Jacksonville game was his last shot to truly make a statement. He's had enough chances to emerge as a starting caliber NFL QB and hasn't done it. Edwards may or may not be, but I went through way too many teases the past couple of seasons with Losman. Turn the page. No QB controversy here. Edwards is the guy...for now.
  11. WGRZ: Bills Quarterback Trent Edwards left Tuesday's practice at St. John Fisher College with an apparent leg injury. Edwards was hurt during a play and was replaced by backup quarterback J.P. Losman. The trainers worked on Edwards' leg and he stood on the sidelines before walking off the field on his own power. There is no word from the team on the severity of the injury. The Bills are scheduled to break training camp after Wednesday's practice. They play their third preseason game in Indianapolis on Sunday.
  12. I doubt I'll be in Boston this weekend but the Harp is a good Bills bar believe it or not...I've also gone to Joshua Tree and Buff's Pub on Sunday's but it's a mixed crowd.
  13. BILLS INK HARDY Posted by Mike Florio on July 24, 2008, 7:53 p.m. The Buffalo Bills have announced that the team has agreed to terms with receiver James Hardy, the team’s second-round selection in the 2008 draft. All Bills rookies are now under contract, with the exception of first-round corner Leodis McKelvin. Hardy, a standout at Indiana, has had a history of off-field problems, and it’ll be interesting to see whether he can stay out of trouble in Buffalo. And whether he can take advantage of al the attention that gets paid to Lee Evans. Go Bills!
  14. If you don't want to go downtown (La Nova, Just Pizza), Blasdell Pizza is phenomenal and about a 5 minute drive. Nino's is also pretty good. Pizza up in New England where I'm at doesn't even come close. Enjoy!
  15. Whitner's going to be a beast this season. He's a leader on and off the field and I can't wait to see him actually roam and play to his talents with the improvements we've made on Defense and a healthy squad.
  16. While the concept is right in theory, Brandon isn't the one doing the work here. His current role is much too demanding to put any time towards marketing his players. The attention we've seen in some of the media publications as the Bills being a sleeper is due to their off-season moves, 2007 record and 2008 schedule. In terms of Whitner and Evans getting some time in the spotlight, that's facilitated by their reps and NFL Players Inc. who want to market all their players. I think the fact that they're a trendy pick is legit and warranted, but still worries me some. I remember the same 'experts' picking the Fins to be elite a couple years ago... GO BILLS.
  17. I just caught it a bit late, but he seems to just be saying that it is under investigation with the evidence that they have and they're trying to get answers. They want to wrap it up ASAP. If guilty, it is a Class A Misdemeanor punishable up to a year in prison and/or $1,000 fine. Victim is considering pressing charges. "Someone will be charged" they just haven't spoken to Lynch or his attorney yet. The guy keeps making football analogies which is pretty weird and unprofessional kind of playing to the crowd... Still looking for answers and if they can't get them they'll have to "take other action"
  18. Definitely need more facts but this makes has me nervous. We've all read great things about Lynch as a person so I'm hoping its some kind of misunderstanding or he wasn't involved.
  19. Not sure if this has been posted but thought this was funny. I'm pretty happy with the way the Bills treat their fans since the Donahoe era. I would not be pleased with this type of customer service... FRANCHISE NOTES Lions Dir of Premium Sales & Marketing Matt Schul inadvertently sent an e-mail to Lions season-ticket holder Kevin Furlong about Furlong's "ordeal with the Lions ticket office," which read, "F--- 'em until next year." Schul intended to send the e-mail to Lions Assistant Dir of Ticket Sales Lance Powser after Furlong "felt compelled to cancel six season tickets worth more than $5,000" for the '08 season. The Lions were "trying to convince" Furlong to renew his tickets. In Michigan, Pat Caputo wrote the Lions "take their support for granted," and to "believe there isn't a trickle-down effect from the top to throughout the remainder of the organization would be naive." But Lions and Ford Field Exec VP & COO Tom Lewand "vehemently disagreed with [Caputo's] contention." Lewand said to Caputo, "If you write that, it will be factually incorrect and bordering on slander. And I will come after you"
  20. Sounds random, but I met Michael Strahan this week for work and asked him about Mitchell. He said Buffalo picked up a good player in him. Described in detail one play Mitchell had against the Pats when he sacked Brady and said he was very athletic. Regardless, he's an upgrade over Ellison.
  21. I agree that Whitner is in a good place to have his breakout year. He should be able to roam free a bit more and be more of a playmaker...he certainly isn't among the elite safeties playing up to this point, but he's getting there. Plus he's got a website now so he's got that going for him, which is nice. http://www.dwhitner20.com/home.php
  22. I agree Hardy should have a big impact and I like Clayton, but he's pretty hit or miss (who isn't?). If I remember correctly, he was raving about JP's progress last year in Training Camp and claimed that he didn't miss any receivers, will have a big year, yada yada... We all know how that prediction went.
  23. Great Post... I was in McFaddens in NY surrounded by Bills fans and you could hear a pin drop when the Bills made their 2 picks. Then, pure elation. Our D is going to be NASTY.
