Yeah, but Fletcher did the same thing (led team in tackles) - the problem was, it was always 5-10 yards down the field. The item that amazed me was that it looks like the Rams are replacing him with a LB signed off someone else's practice squad? Or is that just a backup? Something just doesn't add up... And they are right, Pisa is not big and strong enough for SAM LB. The rams tried him out there is mini-camp this past month and concluded he could not play strong side so they cut him. I was under the impression he would play weak side for the Bills over keith Ellison, which would be a huge upgrade in my opinion. You mean aging, over-the-hill players who want that one Super Bowl ring don't join the Pats? The Rams tried to play a 220 pound athlete at strong side backer in a 4-3 defense. The guy is a natural weak side backer in a cover 2, 4-3 defense. So this guy busts his ass for the team, makes 135 total tackles (solo and assisted) in 2008 and then a statement comes out saying he can't play the run well. Garbage! Mitchell plays the strong side backer in Buffalo over the tight end. The Bills need a speedy weak side backer.....this is a perfect match. The guy is an undersized tackling machine. The total tackles stat can be a little misleading I played MLB in high school, and I can tell you from personal experience that typically in games where I was making 20+ tackles we were getting beaten badly. The reason for this is because I was making tackles down field that should have been made by other positions closer to the line of scrimmage. His number of tackles reflects only that he played for a mediocre defense that wasn't making plays, not that he was a great player himself. The more telling statistic would be how many first hits did he have where he didn't make the tackle? That's the number I'd like to hear. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
