Skins only had 8.1 million in cap space

-You give players a large signing bonus up front and a small actual salary year one. That way a lot of the contract gets spread out over the length of the contract. This makes the cap number low the first year of the contract.

-A lot of the contracts the Redskins give out are not as large as they seem. The backload a lot of the money then release the player mid way through the contract.

-You get players to renogiate their contracts, give them money up front, which is once again spreads the cap hit over the life of the contract.

Thats a good explanation, but Haynesworth is getting payed $41 Million in his first three years.

Exactly. We've seen seen Snyder do this over and over again. He spends tons of money on players and his team has still yet to win a championship with him as owner.

Remember when the Skins signed both Dana Stubblefield & Dan Wilkinson? A lot of people were raving about the Skins having the best interior D-Line in football. Instead they became known as the "Washington Monuments".

This could happen to Haynesworth.

Tampa was really trying to land Haynsworth as well. The big fear down here was the Bucs would OVER PAY for him & he wouldn't produce now that he has his money. The two best years he had were CONTRACT years.
