Tale of the Turnover

As bad as the coaching/play calling has been this year, the season came down to turnovers. If we protected the football better, we’d probably be in the playoffs. The Bills rank 29th out of 32 teams in giveaways with 14 fumbles and 15 interceptions. Only HOU, STL, and SF were worse. We ranked 28th in turnover differential with a -8.

I truly believe that some players just don’t get how important this is. We all know how irresponsible J.P. was with the ball this past week, but if you go back to our losses, almost all come down to a few plays where we were loose with the football. Obviously this needs to be stressed by the coaches and I wouldn’t put it past Dick that he hasn’t done enough of this. But the players have just as much responsibility when they’re out on the field. Simple rule of thumb for these guys that have been playing the game for most of their lives – don’t hand the other team the ball if you want to win.
