A) Bad play call, run it in.

B) Underthrown ball, JP should have put more air.

C) Lee Evans shouldn't have allowed defender to catch it.

D) Lee Evan shouldn't have been the receiver (too short).

E) All of the above (bad playcalling & bad execution)

On (D), Hardy was one-on-one on the other side of the field. Isn't that why we drafted him?

I'd throw the fade to the 6'6" guy every time.

You're right.

And the OP is dead on. You nailed every part about it. It was a QB Option, where if the WR has a favorable one-on-one, he is to audible into a pass. He did that, but underthrew it. I think it's a combination of our team being severely unprepared and JP just chocking. To be honest, you do not call that to Lee Evans unless in practice it's like 99% effective and JP has the throw down. You rarely see teams go with a design fade where the QB/WR are off on the pass, because all other teams make sure they're 100% ready for the call before it's made.

That being said, why isn't he allowed to throw to Hardy in that situation? He said it's because Lee is the go-to-guy, the one way pay the big bucks to, but really that's just to get us down there. If you're not going to use Hardy then it was a waste of a draft pick. A waste of a pick and a waste of a GM taking that pick. That play did more than sum up the season, it really made it obvious how poor our preparation is. How can we win games if we're unbelievably under coached each game?

The play call was a good one at the time. The pass was off by Losman on that one and because our offense didn't get anything going on the day, in that situation it really hurt our chances of coming back.
