Jauron is a streaky coach...always has been, always will be

Jauron is very streaky as a coach....he puts together winning stretches followed by losing stretches, and they usually just about balance themselves out. This is a real concern.

Jauron does not adjust well when the opponents figure our tendencies/abilities out and defend them. It takes him longer than normal to make effective changes to counter what teams are doing. This year is a perfect example. Teams come out and come after Edwards, he burns them, so Miami decides to rush a few and drop into coverage. Edwards plays poorly, the next week the Jets do the same thing, so do the Pats, and so do the Browns. Edwards has not played well in any of those games. The defense was playing pretty good until teams decided to start throwing short passes all over the place like Arizona did. Until this week, Fewell refused to get after the QB, and the defense didn't play that well in any of the 4 games. Basically Jauron either starts out the year doing some things that work well for the first few weeks until teams adjust and then it takes him 4 or 5 games to figure them out and make changes that actually work, or he starts out poorly and it takes him 4 or 5 games to make the adjustments to get them playing well. Very rarely do his teams only lose 1 game and then win again. That just isn't gonna cut it in the NFL. Going on 3 or 4 game win streaks followed by 3 or 4 game losing streaks will only leave you at 1 place: .500 or very close to it, which is basically what Jauron is, other than one miraculous season where everything went his way and he went 13-3, where 7 of their wins were by 7 points or less. Total Jauron ball.

So unfortunately, we should get used to seeing the same thing every year for as long as he is here...streaks. Undoubtedly, the Bills will go on another winning streak this year, which will likely be followed by another losing streak, and a close to .500 record. If he is here next year, we can likely expect the same thing. Unfortunately, Jauron coaches in a league where there are other coaches who can make adjustments quickly and effectively to limit their losses to 1 game in a row, and also make adjustments while winning to prevent other teams from "figuring them out". Jauron seems to be able to do neither of these. He wins until other teams figure him out, he loses after they do, then he adjusts again after 4 or 5 games and wins some more, and then he loses after they figure him out again.

So this is what we have as a head coach, and it isn't going to change---at least it hasn't for his whole career....

Losing streaks must be longer and more common than the winning streaks.
