Malcolm Kelly on Sirius this morning

Recommended Posts

Some Bills fan called Sirius this morning and was trying to talk up the WR thing with Adam and Solly. He got absolutely shut down. Essentially, the hosts said that if the Bills think they are so good on defense that they can pass on a blue chip player to reach for a WR that doesn't belong on #11, and NO WR belongs in the top 20 in their opinion, then the Bills front office is in big time trouble in the thinking and connecting dots department. "There are going to be tons of options in the 2nd and 3rd."

Well, that does it then. If a bunch of radio show hosts think that its a reach, its gotta be.

You've jumped to the wrong conclusion, obviously.

On the other hand, it was pretty funny stuff. And, Schein and Wilcotts at least, as they put it, "brought it" with some coherent arguments. e.g. Is a guy that runs a bad 40 but is 2-3" taller than the next guy on the list and they had about the same production in college, is he really truly 30 or so picks better? Is the Bills team so loaded with talent across the board they can afford to pass on more highly rated players to take a flier on a guy that has significantly higher chance of being a bust? What's stopping the Bills from picking up a guy like Doug Gabriel if they are so desperate for a big WR?

They left the guy on the phone stuttering and stammering. His only argument was -- "But the Bills gotta have a WR!" -- which is factually wrong. The Bills do not need a WR, they need a second option in their passing game and that guy could be a WR, a TE, or even coming out of the backfield. Anyway, it was some funny sh--. <_<

No, I think my conclusion is the correct one. They may be right about the Bills passing on the WR and they're right that they shouldn't pass on a significantly better defensive player, but to say that there's no WR available that warrants the 11th pick is based upon an assumption that is quite possibly false. The hosts have no more idea how the Bills have these guys rated than the caller did or you or I do.

Which conclusion do you think is correct? The one above or the one below? Seeing as they are direct opposites, you got your bases covered.

Radio show hosts do not "define who is a reach". But to think that the Buffalo Bills know everything there is to know about how the draft will unfold and that they always play their cards perfectly is equally retarded. The fact is the radio guys know football and they know that there is no WR worthy of the 11th pick. That's not to say the radio hosts are idiots and all the WRs in this draft are guaranteed to suck slime. Jerry Rice was pretty good, but he wasn't a top-10 pick.

By the way, this is the NFL Network that we are talking about. These guys cream the microphones about everybody. Players have to go over the top to get any sort of negativity. Everything is wonderful 24/7/365. It's called buttering people up so they'll be willing to call in and get stroked on the radio.

Sounded very confident.

Looking forward to proving the rumors and doubters wrong tomorrow.

Bengals are flying him to Cincinnati after the workout. (now that's interesting)

Mentioned the Bills and Vikings when asked about teams interested in him.

...just thought I'd mention since it hadn't been posted yet.

Too bad he's going to fall to round 2 of the draft...he sounded very confident after his poor 40 times and vertical jumps blaming everyone except himself as well..
