FLETCHER OFF THE MARKET?

 

One of the hot rumors in Indy is that Bills linebacker London Fletcher already has struck a deal with the Washington Redskins.

 

Fletcher, a nine-year veteran who has played with the Rams and the Bills, was believed to be a target of the Redskins and the Lions, and possibly others.

 

Of course, even if the 'Skins and Fletcher have a deal, it doesn't mean that the arrangement is binding. Since any contact between a pending free agent and a different team is prohibited, there can be no binding contract at this point.

 

Last year, it was widely believed that the Eagles had an agreement in principle with center LeCharles Bentley, who made a beeline for Cleveland once the free-agency period started.

That was in fact, true. I am close to someone in the Eagles organization. They were absolutely shocked when he booked for Cleveland. He was at the Eagles facility almost every day. Also the Eagles also had a deal for Javon Walker before the Broncos up'ed their anty at the last possible minute. Walker was all around Philly and was even in the facility with other players.

 

Stuff like this proves nothing is garuanteed until the signature is actually on the paper.

 

All in all I hope London strikes rich, he deserves it.

Everything I heard is that Bentley wanted to play for the Browns because it was his hometown. Maybe he was playing the Eagles all along.

I think if there is tampering, the Redskins could lose a draft pick but no picks would be given to the Bills.

He's not a free agent until the period begins. The only team that can legally talk to him right now is the Bills, so it would be tampering.
