Why oh why did Drew take that sack.

Recommended Posts

And yet we still had a hail mary attempt at the end of the game, something we would've have had with an interception.

Fact of the matter is, if Drew HAD tried to throw it away and had the ball intercepted, people would be posting about how lame it was to throw it to the Jets, and that he should've just taken the sack.

But if he throws it and it had been complete, maybe he wouldn't have been forced into a Hail Mary at all and had a shot to get into FG range. If he had just thrown it away in fact, he might have had a Hail Mary that wasn't from so far away that he couldn't even reach the end zone. Even if the ball is caught on that last play, they don't score.

There is a time and place for everything. 51 seconds to go with the clock running is NOT the time to take a sack, damn the torpedos.

I agree. And not only that, we did not have another play ready to go after the sack. We lost another 10 seconds just waiting for a call to be signaled in from the sideline. Given our propensity to give up sacks, we should have been better prepared to deal with it.

It's all "what if" at this point. All I'm saying is that if he had attempted to throw it away and it was intercepted, people would be complaining about that and that he should've taken the sack instead of throwing the ball to the Jets. Pennington tried to throw the ball away earlier in the game, and we picked it off -- throwing it away doesn't always work the way you want it to.

Hail Marys are supposed to reach the endzone. A Hail Mary caught at the 7 yard line as time expires does us zero good!
