Belicheck: Good coach, poor parent?

Recommended Posts

Smoking pot?  Please, most people I know have smoked pot at some point, if anything we should laugh at Belicheck for having a son who was dumb enough to get caught.

Yep I think you are absolutely right on that one. Bad parent? this thread is ridiculous and completely uncalled for and I don't even like Belichick.

did anyone say anything about Marcus Vick's father when dear old Marcus got in deep sh_t for what should have been felonies? Probably not, that would be considered racist or something.

BB banged a married woman, she's just as much at fault as he is. And his kid smoked a doober, ooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

in my line of work I would be delighted if 99% of the folks I deal with would just smoke pot and not drink booze, smoke crack, cook meth, shoot heroin, rob people, kill people. etc etc etc.

give it a rest

Actually - I am sure you wouldn't want people even to smoke pot.

"Every day there is new evidence of the links between cannabis use and serious mental illness, and a recent study showed that 8 out of 10 of those experiencing first episode psychiatric disorders were heavy users of the drug."

That's a scary number of people who 'lose it' after smoking pot... I wouldn't wish anyone smoked pot.

Don't think me high and mighty - I smoked pot at Uni, and it scares me to think what could have (and might still) happen to me as a result.

My Mom's best friend died of cancer of the mouth as a result of smoking pot. Before you say "it was the tobbacco" bear in mind that cannabis contains more tar and carcinogens than tobacco. His wife died shortly afterwards from another pot related cancer. They were survived by three small kids.

Hey, at least the kid didn't hang himself.

820965

And now this post was taken way over the line, Good job!

You would think that the thread was already close to the line when it discusses drug use, extra marital affairs and Gay sex in a Honda fit.

Is BB a bad father because of this? No maybe not. Should he win Father of the Year? Also probably not. Marijuana is becoming more and more accepted by todays standards, but it doesn't mean it isn't dangerous or any less illegal. Its not like this is part of a long list of things BB's kid was busted for, he hasn't hit Maurice Clarrett or Marcus Vick levels yet, then maybe you could call into question BB's fathering skills.

Although being a Bills fan and hating the Patriots, I'll go along with it. BB sucks as a father, atleast DJ hasn't had an affair or had a kid busted for Drug use.

I think now I'll take this thread even further over the line and ask everyone to envision Dick Jauron having sex. Fire Marshal Bill just plugging away!!!!

I'm sure there is truth to most of the links that you present. I'm a cop and I'll tell you from first hand experience, people on pot don't wrestle, scream, yell or threaten to kill me. People that are drunk, on meth (particularly), crack or other dangerous drugs get way more out of hand. I'll take my real life experience over statistics and media figures anyday.

Not that I think it should be used and given to all for enjoyment, it's more of a lesser of two evils in my opinion. I'd rather see someone stay at home and smoke some pot and not bother society than go out and get drunk or methed out and kill a family or a cop.

Belichick's son, 19, placed on probation

Stephen Belichick was arrested for marijuana possession

Updated: 7:18 p.m. ET Oct 30, 2006

WALTHAM, Mass. - The son of New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick was placed on probation Monday for six months after being arrested on one count of marijuana possession.

The charge against Stephen Belichick, 19, will be dismissed after six months if he stays out of trouble, said Emily LaGrassa, spokeswoman for the Middlesex County District Attorney’s office. Belichick had a “very, very small amount” of marijuana and had no prior record, Weston police Sgt. Danny Maguire said.

Belichick was arraigned in Waltham District Court where the case was continued without a finding, LaGrassa said. Belichick and Jonathan Pizarro, 18, were arrested Saturday night in a parking lot, Maguire said. He said Pizarro was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Team spokesman Stacey James said Bill Belichick could not immediately be reached for comment. The Patriots played a road game against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night.

First, the Evil Genius is accused of banging some married broad and now his son gets caught busted smoking pot.  What a great father.

So because he has 3 of the last 4 SB rings he is a good father? No one said he wasn't a good coach here, I believe the original post was about his parenting

pass the doobie.

820774

See just goes to show you. When you are a losing coach they threaten your family (like a former Bills coach). But when you put a winner on the field;

"here you go - have a doob!"

PS

Question:

What is the most common word said whilst smoking pot?

answer:

Ear.

as is ".........uuussssssssssssss, ear..."

From your link:

Pros/Cons

Pro: Cannabis is less addictive than amphetamines, tobacco or alcohol, and does less harm to the body

Con: It may be psychologically addictive. Heavy users can display aggressive impulses if their supply suddenly stops, a side effect similar to that of anabolic steroids

Never known anyone to be extra angry when their supply drys out.

Pro:A government report found that high use of cannabis isn't associated with major health or sociological problems, unlike other harder drugs

Con:Cannabis may be a 'gateway' drug to more harmful substances like heroin and cocaine

Yeah, becaue it's illegal. Alcohol would be the same if it were illegal. You have to go to an illicit source to get it, and guess what they have other stuff. Not the fault of the product.

Pro:Its effects are beneficial to sufferers of various medical conditions, including cancer, HIV, multiple sclerosis, and glaucoma

Con:It has a higher tar content than tobacco, so smoking cannabis presents the same health problems: bronchitis, emphysema and lung cancer

Yeah, if you smoke the equivalent of a pack of joints per day it might be a problem. Do you know anyone that smokes 20 joints a day? I know people that eat way too many chips and burgers per day, not to mention smoke. Nearly anything in excess can be harmful to your health.

Cannabis has an effect on the heart, similar to the effects of exercise. It may be just as good for the heart as going to the gym

It can disrupt the control of blood pressure increasing the risk of fainting. Even occasional use is bad for people with heart and circulation disorders, and for those predisposed to schizophrenia

Not every pharmacutical is good for everyone. Would you expect a plant to be any different?

Isn't pot outlawed in the UK?

You realize that you're quoting a media source owned by the British government in an attempt to discredit something that is illegal in the UK, right?

BTW, some links refuting yours:

Cancer: http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis_health2.shtml

Brain Damage: http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis_myth8.shtml

Gateway Drug: http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis_myth13.shtml

There are multiple studies relating to Cannabis and Schizophrenia, as far as I know, there is no direct evidence that Cannabis use causes schizophrenia. There is a possibility that it helps facilitate it in people that are predisposed, and that since younger people try cannabis, its a correlation that doesn't exactly mean causation.

This leads the British government to say that "omg it causes schizophrenia" while the Dutch government and scientists maintain that it does not. Gee, I wonder why theres a difference. :(

All right boys and girls. Today we are cancelling gym....

821142

That has to be the weakest argument. Because pot is illegal and dealers have other stuff you are more likely to do it? That makes no sence.

No, you are more likely to try other stuff because you have gotten to the point were pot isn't giving you the same Buzz anymore because you have done too much of it and you need to go to something stronger to get the same feeling.

Say what you want about it, but anything that alters your state of thinking/being is having an effect on your body. Now just like alcohol, occasional smoking of pot will probably not give you long term health concerns, just like occasional drinking, but the problem is when you over indulge. I've seen many Burnouts who act as if they are borderline retarded that are that way because they smoke pot all the time.

Actually, there is some truth to both. Dealers do play the "you think that was awesome? Wait till you try this ____________" card.

My argument is weak? Please...

By your logic, any intoxicating substance is a gateway drug.

That makes no sense. Your reasoning assumes that any user of any intoxicating substance will feel the need to get a better buzz the next time around. This is more of a personality disorder than a specific issue with the intoxicant.
