Off topic...but football related

Don't assume that your son will do things behind your back if you are firm.

Teenagers by definition are slappy as it comes, and most, really - not that they won't mouth off - long for non-waffly guidance.

You've spoken of your son for some time here, and I for one think he's a good kid.

But you now express some concerns as he enters a new age and environment. So time to redouble your watchfulness.

Like I said - Dad's job...there are tons of negative influences today inflicted upon kids  that an old fossil like me never faced, or you too with fewer years under your belt.

I apologize for my directness, but I give frank opinion because I consider you a good  man and hopefully, friend.

Difference in practices and the level of coaching between the varsity and JV is major.

I played in fall practice my FR with the JV unit and then got put on the varsity squad, I might not have played as much as I would have with the JVs but I got some great coaching that led to me being recruited by such schools as NC State, UNC, and Wake Forest.

Granted they were all offering me academic scholarships for my grades, but I like to pretend it was for my 5.0 forty and well built 170 pound frame.

If ends up being real good send him to NC State, we need linebackers.

Thanks for the info King.

To be honest it is still hard to figure where he will end up as a final position as he is still growing....

4.9 40 right now...he is unhappy with it because he sees all the scout.com profiles with 4.4 and 4.5 40 times. The good news for him is that he isn't really all that muscular in the legs yet.....his speed coach wants to see him with 10-15 pounds of muscule on his legs next year and then see just how far his 40 time goes.

It is hard to guage where he will end up at in the height and weight department.....he is 5'10" and 160 right now....but he is starting to turn into a real knuckledragger (runs in the family) even though his bodyfat is low....he has taken to the weight training and nutrition part of the game very well.....at this point I cannot imagine him being over 6' and over 200 pounds as a senior.

PS. He is a huge USC nut.....that is his number one choice (I myself would be happy with ANY college...but would look forward to seeing him on the weekends)
