Patriots cut ties with McGinest

Recommended Posts

The Boston Globe reports that the Patriots released the NFL's all-time postseason sack leader just after the CBA extension was announced around 8:35 p.m. (et). The cost-cutting move ends McGinest's 12-year tenure in Foxboro.

McGinest was owed $7 million for the upcoming season, and although New England was not in danger of exceeding the new $102 million salary cap, McGinest reportedly told the Globe a week ago that he felt the move was coming.

Why would they need to keep McGinest when they have a real American hero in theit linebacking corps? He saved puppies for crying out loud.

They could play 10 and let Tedy play Willie's position. That would be no problem for him.

I think Dallas will make a push and between them and Cleveland, will outprice what NE wants to spend.  In any case, they're both likely gone from the Pats and that hurts them a lot.
