The cost-cutting move ends McGinest's 12-year tenure in Foxboro. McGinest was owed $7 million for the upcoming season, and although New England was not in danger of exceeding the new $102 million salary cap, McGinest reportedly told the Globe a week ago that he felt the move was coming. I think Dallas will make a push and between them and Cleveland, will outprice what NE wants to spend. In any case, they're both likely gone from the Pats and that hurts them a lot. I don't see the Browns or Cowboys being playoff teams any faster, and McGinest is coming close to the end of the line. He should take the best offer given that, and since he's won 3 rings.
