too many commercials

You morons. If there weren't any commercials, there would be no money for TV programs. Not unless you want the cost of the shows to end up on your cable bill. So deal with it.

The reasononing for more commercials is simple. Less and less guys are watching TV. (probably playing video games or surfing for porn on the net) And more and more people have TIVO or DVR. So the best time to reach a captive male audience between 18-45 is to do so during sports.

TIVO and DVR actually screw us in the end.

So, what network do you work for?

Do you mean credits to get the $49 price or some others that would drop the price even further?

Thanks,

Dave.

They will give you something like a ten dollar "customer loyalty" credit on your bill for six months. The superfan will still be charged, but you will be at a net zero increase in your bill

Remember the debate on here before: Hockey or Football? I told you, Football, although a great game and I love the Bills, Its so freakin painful to watch NFL on TV now. IT is absolute murder taking 3.5 hrs to watch a F#^$&ING game. Hockey has nowhere near the amt of commericals that football does and it is much better to watch for flow and minimal interruptions. There, I said it and I'm sticking to it. GO SABRES!!

Only time i actually watch some commercials is during Center Ice Sabres games. Always good to see Shony doing an commercial, brings a little slice of WNY to the Mid Atlantic.

If I could stand to let the bills play for 45 minutes before I watched the game, I'd skip those commercials too... but alas, I can't do that.

I watch most games this way. Only you really need about an hour and a half cushion. 45 minutes have you caught up to the ggame by about middle of third qtr. Really is the best way to go. Hard for me to watch a live game except for the opener and playoff games we are going to have this year

Do they actually stop things at the game for commercials?

I know in hockey they turn on that little red light for comercials and it like a small timeout, and then when the red light goes off, hockey resumes.

How does it go at the Bills games? I haven't been to enough to get the patterns down.

Pretty much same thing at the Bills game. Some dude has on orange gloves and signals the refs when to go to a TV timout and when to come back.

Marketing...

Lobster was caught during fishing, and was used as fertilizer until somebody figured out that if you were given drawn butter to dip the bottom-feeder in, it would become a premium delight.

Scotland is a sparse land. The British textile industry figured out that the invention of various tartan plaid fabric and assigning this or that pattern to this or that clan would sell fabric.

In the 30's and 40's soap manufactures embarked on a campaign to convince Americans that their perfectly hygeinic habit of once-a-week bathing and cleaning of the genitals/fanny as needed was a bad thing, and that a daily scrub was the only way to go. With hexachlorophene soap, no less...

Now, you are sold processed food that removes the essential nutrients so you can buy supplements to get back what the food had in the first place. :)

Actually, there's been plenty of research that shows people with TiVo (and DVR's in general) actually pay MORE attention to the commercials than normal people. Why? Because we have to watch the screen to know when to press play again.

Along the same lines, there's been a lot of research showing that people with TiVo (and DVRs in general) will actually stop and watch a commercial if they think it looks interesting.

The problem isn't DVRs - the problem is that companies bombard you with the same commercial dozens of times a day. Who wants to watch the same Pepsi machine commercial 30 times during one football game?! Make an interesting commercial and people will watch.

Ive thought this for the last few seasons. If I didnt like the Bills(and wasnt involved in various pools) I probably wouldnt watch the NFL at all because of it. Such big money involved in the TV contracts I guess the networks have to squeeze every last spot out.

So what you're saying is that if you didn't like football, you wouldn't watch it? :)

Wel I'M not, I stick to organic whenever possible.

Anyways, I always though they proccessed things just becaue it was cheaper to manufacture. Proccessed food takes longer to spoil and can be made and shipped in large quantities.

Processed foods are not necessarily a bad thing - often quite tasty And yes, great ecomomies are realized to manufacturer, distributor, and consumer alike.

The bottom line is to strike a balance between the processed and the natural.

I am not happy about the recent trend of fortifying packaged foods, though. I know it's become a bit of a marketing darling lately, and I guess it helps folks who are either dumb or unaware, but it's pretty easy to ingest excess A, D and E these days.
