I'm sitting across from a famous poster by a Cuban artist (Ares): We met him in his studio and I quizzed him on censorship. He had plenty of art critical of the Cuban government. We also met some dissidents. I asked if they might be imprisoned for their work and they said it was unlikely but possible. I guess kinda like here, see Bolton, John and Comey, James. I see he’s got some significant accolades but geesh, from a creative perspective, looks like he sorta mailed this one in. Was there only one format Obama approved of? Looks like Ares took the HOPE poster, changed the solemn look and gave him a smile and a Cuban general’s tunic.

It's about freedom of speech and risk of persecution. It may be that Cuba is worse on this issue than America. It may be the opposite. I saw a small sample of activists who didn't seem fearful. But it's clear that under trump, freedom of speech is under attack. Why would any American support that?
