Yes, actually, to an extent. I’ve never been a fan of Newsom the politician. Most of my ire surrounding the politics of California fires, however, tends to get directed at urban and suburban sprawl. Some geographical locations are simply too dangerous for houses. And since I’m a hardcore environmentalist, I’m mainly concerned with ecosystem degradation. There’s also the climate change component to the politics, of course, on which you probably know where I vociferously stand.

I can just as easily throw the question back to you guys: are you all as outraged with the disaster response from Governor “Hot Wheels” and his Texas GOP cohort as you’ve been with that of Governor Newsom and the Cali leftists?? Why or why not?

Dude…the meteorologists and geologists who are considered experts on Texas floods are telling us that the ~$1 million flood alarm systems would have saved many lives!! People who work at NOAA and NWS are telling us that the DOGE cuts are already compromising their ability to forecast weather. With critical functions now understaffed, the drastic reduction in weather balloon launches further hinders their ability to predict large rainfall events with accuracy and timeliness. MAGA types deeply distrust earth scientists, but the anthropogenic climate change “debate” shows that this skepticism is not healthy because it is not based on any scientific literacy or high-level reasoning skills.

I really like the “America first” energy in your post, but you kinda ruin it with your bizarre JCPOA attack. Is “pallets of money” a reference to Iran’s frozen international assets that were returned to them after the lifting of the economic sanctions? Why not instead mention our country’s $1+ trillion annual budget for defense spending?? Or the $20+ billion that has been sent to Israel since 10/7/23 to fund their genocide and ethnic cleansing project in Gaza??

There is no ethnic cleansing in Gaza. Jesus......

Hind sight is always 20/20 . Was there paper work put in for this flood equipment prior to doing away with the employees at the NWS ? Or is you reply based on those people still being employed and there still being no paper work for the order of this equipment ?

Ethnic Cleansing - Genocide ?? This is no where near that I do feel for those people in Gaza but they should have kept Hezbollah in check then none of this would have happened .

Plus that went both ways, there are innocent people on both sides of this conflict that are involved when it comes to those that are being or that have been killed because of Hezbollah's actions .

That's like if you walk up to the biggest guy in a bar that has a buddy standing there just as big and you say something smart ass about his wife or girl friend and haul off and hit him then sit there and think you aint got a ass whooping coming . try that sometime and let me know how you make out ...

So was Israel supposed to just sit there and take that attack that killed 1000 or so people and do nothing ? If so then what should happen to those that instigated this situation if no retaliation was to take place ? Or let me guess this was and is all Israel's fault ??

Hesbolah started that ***** and the chicken ***** bastards ran and hid behind a bunch of innocent people to shield them selves from retribution for their acts because they knew right after that they have just F'd up & just like a chicken ***** terrorist would do they ran and hid .

So if you want to blame any one for the any of these actions or as you called it "Ethnic cleansing" which is a reaction because of the action first taken then you need to start with the one that threw the first stone because Israel reacted to the action against them not the other way around .

The flood alarm systems were state legislative proposals that the Texas GOP repeatedly turned down, dating back to 2017. The weather balloon equipment is federal government property of the NOAA and NWS, with the DOGE cuts this year hampering their efficacy.

“Hindsight is always 20/20,” you say. “Science is foresight,” says Kay. Criticize me for politicizing a natural disaster, if you’d like, but I think it’s disgraceful how reactionaries are shirking responsibility for their failed policies. Whatever. Let’s see if the fossil fuel-obsessed citizens of Texas can at least learn lessons from these floods. Maybe consider taking climate change seriously? Maybe have an actual state income tax to fund disaster relief and prevention measures?

I’d rather not hijack this thread by spending too much time on the Gaza topic. A few notes:

1. You meant to say “Hamas,” not “Hezbollah.” Hamas is in Gaza, while Hezbollah is north in Lebanon.

2. Ethnic cleansing is defined as “the forced and systematic removal of an ethnic group in a particular area, for the purpose of making that area ethnically homogeneous.” This is EXACTLY what Israel is doing in Gaza. The northern portion has already been ethnically cleansed. Likud party leaders and Trump have already publicly declared their intentions of a full ethnic cleansing in Gaza. Israel’s food and aid blockade, destruction of hospitals and schools, full city razing, and well-documented war crimes on civilians and journalists is fulfilling their ultimate objective: make life there so intolerable that nearby Arab nations will be pressured to accept Gazan refugees en masse. The West Bank is next, by the way, according to Likud party leaders. Apartheid isn’t enough for these sociopathic degenerates.

3. The conflict didn’t begin with Hamas on 10/7/23. This has been a turbulent back-and-forth between Israel and Hamas since the Second Intifada. Neither side has a clear conscience. Since Gazans are the descendants of ethnically cleansed Palestinians in 1948, I’d actually set the genesis of conflict to the very conception of Zionism. And since Zionism is an illegitimate political and philosophical and religious movement entwined with ethnic cleansing, then yeah…I’m blaming Israel for starting it all. Don’t steal people’s land and expect them to not fight back.

Yes Hamas/Hezbolla they are both funded by the same terrorist country .

But we can't tell your a full blown lib can we ? State income tax you mean like the one in NY that they being politicians  blow on anything but things that could make a real difference for people other than entitlements and will get 100 worse if that wing nut Maandami gets elected with his partner AOC by his side which I would imagine you give your full support to seeing as they and you have TDS .

As far as your climate change thing the thing that pisses me off about that is in your mind and the Liberal politicians excuse for it is as you negatively pointed to the fossil fuel obsessed Texans is it's all about fossil fuels, but you ALL seem to conveniently leave out all of the other things about the cause of it .

Here's a question - what takes the CO2 out of the air ? TREES Right ?

Well politicians and those obsessed with climate change conveniently leave out the clearing of millions of acres of trees every year to build new apartment complexes for tax paying citizens and the illegal citizens to live in at tax payer expense . I just went by a place that had already cleared probably 200 acres for a new apparent complex and right next to that now there is probably another 400 plus acres of trees GONE if you tell me that doesn't have anything to do with climate change your a huge ass that has a narrative based on liberal BS .

And that's only one of thousands of places all over the country doing the same thing but you don't here the liberal/progessive politicians b**ching about that because they have money invested in EV's and more than likely construction companies that make billions of dollars from those companies .

As far as the Ethnic cleansing was it not a huge part of history that the Jewish people were legitimately trying to be eradicated from the face of the earth in WW2 ? And how many MILLIONS of people were killed off which I would be willing to bet is still today more than how many Palestinians have been killed in this conflict through the history of this conflict .

So applying that thought, when someone tries once again over and over to kill more Jews you don't think they have the right to be pissed off & react to actions taken against them ?

Again if someone continually comes at me weather it be the same person or different people and try to beat me, kill me, or force me to do something against my will I'm going to KICK THEIR ASS and if it's me or them I will survive , but once again your liberal mind set & TDS is set because Israel REACTED to a action despite the history of this conflict and are supported by this president which they are the bad guys .

And a lot of this is fueled by religious beliefs, being a christian and Israel being the place where my lord and savior was brought to this earth I'm going to side with Israel and I'll bet that if Hamas wouldn't have killed all of those innocent Jews by launching this particular attack for no true or apparent reason then Israel wouldn't have the reaction that they did .  And if the Palestinians would get rid of Hamas a world wide known to be terrorist group supported by a country that funds terror being Iran a lot of this fighting would stop but I guess they like the libs don't have the balls to take action against those that instigate these types of things .

So ya'll can just blame those that have the balls to do something about it .

The same goes for Iran because they have out & out stated that they will eradicate Israel and with their actions as far as building toward having nuclear weapons and no one including the previous 2 democratic presidents doing anything to stop them I can't blame them for taking it to Iran .

So go ahead and write your reply full of your liberal beliefs like I did with my conservative beliefs and we will just have to agree to disagree which is cool ...

There is noo ethnic cleansing in Gaza. God forbid Isreal defends themselves. They could remove all Muslims tomorrow if that was their goal, ya know like Palestine wants to do with Jewish people.
