1st Round TE's & their lack of Success...

So I'm not posting this to suggest Kincaid isn't going to be good or the Bills made a mistake, I'm just curious as to why you guys think that so few 1st round TE's have gone on to be great NFL players.

Here's 2 articles discussing the topic -

I think the 2 biggest issues have been teams' inability to utilize them, followed by injuries. I know Kincaid has had some back problems, but I'm more interested in how Dorsey plans to use him. We all envision the 2 x TE sets and throwing him in the slot, but none of that ensures he'll get the opportunities.

A lot of the criticisms fielded at our RB's & run game can also apply towards the TE's. At times it felt like Knox was just an afterthought, just as Nyheim Hines & Co. were. It's great to have the weapons, but it doesn't mean much if we're not finding creative ways to get them involved.

Anyway, I'm extremely excited for Kincaid & think he'll make an impact regardless. I'm just curious if anyone who knows more about these previous 1st round failures might have some insight as to why they failed.
