The back-ups value will diminish the longer he sits on the bench. Right now, SD will be able to get a number one (and possibly more) for either one of them. This could certainly impact on who the Bills are able to bring in, since there will be one less team looking for a back-up, unless SD winds up going after the same guys the Bills are seeking for back-up purposes.
