Gugny Posted August 9, 2013 Share Posted August 9, 2013 This is why first responders are people who need to be thanked. I can't imagine what some must see and work through. Was just talking, last night, to my wife about what it must be like to be a full-time fireman. The majority of our fire departments in surrounding areas are volunteer. However, there are some city fire departments. Every time these people are called to duty, they are going to a place where someone has lost something - from a loved one, to personal possessions. That has got to be heavy. I would imagine it would wear on a person after a while. If they become desensitized, are they really? Or is everything suppressed?
