This was before Twitter, Texts, and other forms which sent messages out to the masses. If someone saw on KFFL (old reliable site that would update breaking news) that player Z was cut the easiest way to mention it to someone was a Belinda post. If it was Bills related you'd send the link to TBD site and then look back in a few hours... The site has changed a lot with the text updates and what not.
