And plus, when you factor in that the Buffalo Bills are right now the least talked about franchise in the NFL for a number of reasons, this will happen. We sit here and cry and moan that Cris Cater does not know who Donald Jones is but ask yourself this: How many people listening to that show WILL know who Donald Jones is? And who can blame them: 1. Buffalo has missed the playoffs for 11 seasons. 2. Ralph Wilson and Co have a reputation around the NFL and with players for not doing what it takes to TRULY win in the NFL. 3. The Pats and the Jets have been light years ahead of Buffalo over the past several seasons. We can go on and on here. Bills fans, please taper down your expectations, they are not a good football team. 6,7 wins would be a very good year, with progression from the young players, and Fitz cutting down on some INT's and the Bills finding ways to win the close games. Even if the Bills made the 'sexy' moves in the offseason some here yearned for: Do any of you think that would bring the Bills closer to dethroning New England? Not a chance in hell. Why is this so tough for some Bills fans to understand? Stop desiring attention from the national media. It's like hoping you go home with a hottie from the strip club. Dorkington Posted August 12, 2011 Share Posted August 12, 2011 (edited) How in the world do you "evaluate" the Bills D and completely neglect to mention the addition of Dareus, Pro Bowler Williams, an invigorated Merriman, while at the same time spotlighting the "loss" of Marcus Stroud as a negative? If you're going to pontificate, then the least you owe to your viewers is to know the players on the team. Most of the "review" was pre-taped with Mike Golic, who once again proved to be an idiot. And Greenie is too timid to forcefully present his views (he kept trying to make the point that the Bills were "this close" in so many games last year that the law of averages alone suggest they should be better, but allowed himself -- as usual -- to be rolled over by his co-hosts). But, you know, I kinda like that the major sports "pundits" don't have a clue about Buffalo. It should be fun to watch them sputter in amazement this season as the Bills win far more than anticipated. Anyone for a pool on when the first of these knuckleheads say, "No one saw this coming." Dareus = Rookie who HAS NOT played a single NFL game. Merriman = Likely to be injured again. Stroud, Poz, etc were all known commodities. We replaced them with unknown commodities. Seriously people... until we ACTUALLY win some games, we will not be respected. Stop crying. We've gone 7-9, 7-9, 6-10, 4-12 while shedding "talent" and bringing in people who "may" turn out to be good, but haven't proven anything on the field yet (rookies) or in a while (injured former stars). Hey, the team is rebuilding The first year was a wash because Nix and Gailey were evaluating the players and talent. This year they worked on the defense as they only have so many draft picks, so maybe the offense next year. 5 year plans generally take 5 years.... Doc Posted August 12, 2011 Share Posted August 12, 2011 The bit shows just how much these guys know about the teams. Liam's mom had a better grasp on the situation when she predicted 8-8. If you look at the Bills' schedule, even with last year's team, I'd say they would win 7 games (both Dols, Oakland, Cincy, Denver, Tennessee, and Washington, and none of those teams improved themselves, if not got worse).
