Doc
I think they considered Favre their starting QB for those years. If the Bills "did" what GB did with him (sit him behind Bills starter Favre), no one would be complaining to this day. Then again, had the Bills drafted Brees, you'd have run him out of town after his 2nd season.
BobbyC81
...suffered a knee injury and didn't recover. The Oakland Raiders let Green go after they re-signed another questionable Bills' signee in Langston Walker. We should be signing players away that teams want to retain, not players that aren't wanted. Brad Smith was one of the former.

Just saying that his knee injury never improved and that's not something you can predict.
San Jose Bills Fan
The Oakland Raiders let Green go after they re-signed another questionable Bills' signee in Langston Walker. We should be signing players away that teams want to retain, not players that aren't wanted. Brad Smith was one of the former. Huge oversimplification, IMO. In addition to Brad Smith, the Jets had lots of expensive free agents this year… David Harris, Santonio Holmes, Antonio Cromartie, Braylon Edwards, Shaun Ellis, Jerricho Cotchery, Nick Folk, Broderick Pool, Jason Taylor, Eric Smith… and this is after they extended would-be free agents Nick Mangold and D Ferguson before the lockout. On a star-studded roster, Smith was simply not a high priority at the price it would have taken. He, along with Edwards, Ellis, Cotchery, and Taylor were casualties of the salary cap… but that doesn't mean that they weren't wanted.
