True. Yet, how is bringing more attention to the sleep deprivation gonna correct the problem? What I am saying, how much more will really correct the problem? IMO, nothing... There are already a ton of regs on the books. There is not much more that can be down. People will always (and wrongly) drive tired no matter how much attention is made out of it. What gets me about the whole sleep thing... Is... If the driver was keeping their books all on the up and up... How were they sleep deprived? They can only drive 10 hours a day or something like that. If everything is on the up and up by the regs... Isn't this a matter of inattentive driving... Which of course was caused by watching video. You raise two issues. The first is easy; it's called enforcement. Mandatory jail time for any driver caught on the road who is out of compliance and confiscation of the contents of the truck (which ought to get the attention of his employer). The issue is that sleep deprevation is pretty much an institution in the trucking business and it will only change when the cost of doing business is more expensive by having truckers driving tired. As for reckless driving, that's just a fact of life. For every trucker I see driving recklessly, I probably see 20 cars doing the same, so no need to pick on truckers there IMO.
