  1. It is my understanding that you don't get suspended with your first transgression. You are put on a list and are subjected to a suspension the next time you are caught. If that is the case then Nelson was being careless with the products he was taking.

I would appreciate it if someone will clarify whether it takes more than one banned drug transgression before enduring a suspension?

If you get caught using illegal drugs I believe tha tthe first step is to put you in the drug program, but no suspension. You get a suspension on the second offense. If it is performance enhancing, then you get suspendded right away.

  2. Okay as much as I want the Bills to win the Superbowl, I don't think this is the year. Here are some things I would like to see happen.

    - A record of 2-14 earning the numbers one pick in the draft, and with both wins being over the Patriots.

    - Injuring Tom Brady.

    - Electrifying touchdown runs from C.J. Spiller.

    - The young guards establishing themselves as a top interior line.

    - Enough from Bell to allow him to be a starter (hopefully at right tackle) going forward.

    - Sean Nelson contributing to the offense.

    - Byrd producing enough to show he was not a flash in the pan.

    - McKelvin making some sort of quality contribution to the defense.

    - McKelvin avoiding any further penis lawns.

    - An unexpected linebacker playing well. Moats!

    - Someone besides Lee Evans getting some production at WR.

    - Lynch or Jackson traded to a team that suffers an early RB injury in exchange for a draft pick.

    - Chan's offense looking more dynamic that Jauron's abomination.

It's okay if the Bills lose a lot, there are still lots of positive things to build an actual foundation on that can happen! :)

    My ideal season:

    - Trent Edwards throws for enough yards and has a good enough TD to INT ratio to allow the team to avoid being forced into taking a QB #1 in 2011.

    - 9-7 record and in the playoff hunt until late December.

    - No injuries to skill position players.

    - Roscoe Parish having a breakout year on offense.

    - D Bell shows enough promise to hold the LT job for one more year at least.

    - Spiller doing what we expect without getting seriously hurt or looking poor down the stretch.

    - Defense getting better every week.

    - Maybin getting 10 sacks.

    - McKelvin moving into the starting spot by end of year.

    - Play-calling on both sides of the ball catches teams off-guard.

I understand the reason for wanting to go 2-14 to get the first pick and get a QB, but wouldn't it be better if Trent just turned into that guy and we could take a pass-rusher #1?

  3. I can't take how lame and negative some of these hack articles are that come from the Buffalo News. I was literally laughing out loud by myself at this latest article by Mike Harrington that talks about how Miami is just another team and there is no rivalry anymore, and that "The Bills are completely irrelevant so they can't even have a rival"

At first he starts with this line, taken from the Jerry Sullivan School of Gloom: "It's Miami Week. Squish the Fish, right? Are you pumped? Didn't think so."

Oh you didn't think so? Why because YOU'RE not pumped for the home opener against Miami you lame-o? Wanna ask my kids or my friends that have been talking about this Sunday for months? I personally cannot wait for this game to start and its killing me that it's only Wednesday right now.

You're not pumped to watch our new guys play their first real home game in Buffalo. Not pumped to see Spiller and the new plays Gailey has in store for Miami that nobody has even seen yet? You shouldn't have a job in sports if you aren't Christmas-morning excited for this game.

So speak for yourself Harrington, maybe next time just say that you're not pumped, but don't speak for me or the sold out stadium thank you.

I swear I would take the top ten posters on this board over every one of these hack writers (except Wilson).

Here's the kicker: he goes on to write: "Fans can't hate the Dolphins anymore. Who's the quarterback? Who's the coach? You barely know."

Really? I barely know? Wait you mean YOU barely know. I follow the AFC East because I'm a Bills fan, you obviously don't. I watched them go from 1-15 in 2007 to division champs at 11-5 the following year. Didn't you? Sorry dude but not only are you stretching a weak point, why don't you bring up game-relevant stuff like this:

Dolphins left tackle Jake Long has hurt knee and linebacker Channing Crowder are both serious Miami contributors that are hurt right now.

Cornerback Vontae Davis also has a hurt ankle, Will Allen got placed on IR for the SEASON. So that means CB jason Allen is going to start against Buffalo. I wonder how that might affect the gameplan for us? What about Ronnie Brown is he 100% from that surgery? That would be nice to know.

Stop writing weak off season 6th grade articles five days before the home opener please and use your locker room badge to dig a little deeper.

I've said this before here, but Warren Buffet has said that he would close down the Buffalo News because it's not profitable, but that he's keeping it alive simply because he thinks it's a valuable community asset. I disagree.

The STADIUM WALL is an asset baby! Warren send us some cash for a TaILgaTe PaRtY !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw that same article and thought pretty much the same thing - here's another mind-blowing insight from the idiots at the Buffalo News. I understand his point that the rivalry isn't what it used to be and that it isn't talked about anywhere in the NFL outside of these two cities anymore, but what does that matter? Is he writing this article to get it picked up by the AP? He's writing the thing for people in Buffalo to read, so why not include something abou the game? I think it's absurd that we're this far past roster cut-downs and there hasn't been one TBN article yet about what people might expect out of the offense and defense this year. This is year one of a new everythign on the team pretty much and it's like the sports-writers for the news can't think of anything to write about! I guess it goes to show how competent they are.

I could see this type of article being a part of the pre-game paper on Sunday, along with 10 other articles abotu the Bills, but why the hell is it in Wednesday's paper instead of something about the actual game?

  4. She bones them first (hehe)...I guess I should say she de-bones them first, very quickly with her tiny Asian fingers* and eats the meat of several wings at one time.

Still it's pretty hard to comprehend.

*Re: "tiny Asian fingers": I have a substance abuse problem...

She bones them with her tiny asian fingers...

    That's a classic, Dean. I have a problem too.

  5. Right. Ok. You've drawn me out again with your ridiculous homerism. The fact that the FO may have found a few good UDFAs is great. Does it excuse all of their other failures? How about finding an NFL-caliber QB or a decent offensive line? That's too much to ask PTR? Because they hit on UDFAs it excuses their misses on draft picks? Excuse me, but you're the idiot, defending every single move this failure of an organization makes, and consistently attacking everyone who questions it. You're a moron, and a homer, and by far the most annoying poster on this Board. You know NOTHING about football, and you're not even consistent in your abject fanboyness - after Week 1 of the preseason, you started a thread apologizing for your ridiculous behavior, which you've since resumed. Now, if you would please, go back about your business and return to your role as Official OBD Fluffer, and kindly leave me alone.

OK, so you just turned a thread about cutting a 7th round rookie QB into how the FO sucks and has sucked for the past 10 years, even though we now have a new guy calling the shots? No one cares if Levi Brown makes an NFL roster or stacks groceries except Levi and maybe his mom.

So accepting the fact that the Bills over the past 10 years have been almost as horrible as you can be as far as drafting is concerned, what about cutting our 7th round draft pick QB because he was clearly the worst of the four QBs on the roster makes that point relevant or more valid?

You two obviously are having a little spat judging by the insults leveled at each other, but in the first line of your post you say, "OK. You've drawn me out again..." and then end it by saying, "...now kindly leave me alone." Are you just reading his posts and getting more and more angry, only to finally lose it and have to express your anger/frustration via post? I think you need a hobby that doesn't involve the computer.

  6. I asked Chris Brown of Inside the Bills about Shawn Nelsons suspension. He told me it was most likely due to a GNC supplement that had a banned substance. He said alot of rookies make similar mistakes, no big deal. I had to disagree with him and said that if it were that simple, why not say so instead of leaving the fans to wonder if he's a drug addict or just stupid for not reading labels. If alot of rookies make those mistakes then why not more suspensions? He then chastized me and said I shouldn't "throw stones" because I don't know all the facts. Well then why doesn't OBD provide some answers?

So my questions to you guys are:

What was the substance Shawn Nelson was suspended for?

If it was so innocent why the information blackout and secrecy?

Is Chris Brown just a master propoganda puppet for the Bills?

I think the main reason that no one declares the substance revolves around the privacy of said player. No matter how you look at these types of tests, they are medical tests and subject to medical privacy guidelines. The only times you get that information is when the player tells the media or gives the OK for the team to do so.

For all we know it had nothign to do with football or training. Maybe he's taking penis enlargement pill san dthey have a small amount of a banned substance, which over time built up in his system and caused a positive test. Understandably, he doesn't want to entire world (including his peers playing football) knowing what he's taking.

  7. I have posted this in other thread previously.

The opinions of these writers (and not that I agree with it) is from the fact that they feel that due to our schedule, we really have no shot at winning the 6 games against the AFC East foes (they believe that those teams got much better than the Bills in the offseason and have their QB position and LT position set, whereas the Bills do not). They also believe that we do not have a shot at beating the top three teams of the AFC North and NFC North that we play this year. That leaves us with a shot to win against KC, JAX, Cleveland, Detroit. They figure that we will go 2-2 in those games and hence a 2-14 record for the year.

Again these are their opinions. IF you had no allegiance to the Bills, I see how they can view our team. After all, how do you think about the Lions or Cleveland. I am sure you are thinking they are the 31st and 32nd team in the league, which every fan of those teams will beg to differ.

I don't know about anyone else, but the thing about these predictions that gets me is the record, not the rank in the league. I can accept that we are a bottom 4 or 6 team in the league right now and could not argue that at all. However, I don't think that we'll go 2-14. Furthermore, I don't think any team will go 0-16 this year and I'd expect the worst record in the league to be 2-14 or 3-13. The only reason people talk about teams going 0-16 or 1-15 is because it happened recently. Looking back through the history of the league, it is obvious that only wining 1 or 2 games in the year is hard to do. Miami and Detriot are definitely exceptions instead of rules.

But since those teams did so poorly, people think that suddenly every year a team is going to go nearly winless. In addition to the three or four games that look to be winable to even the most pessimistic observors, there ar ethe divisional games, which are generally closer than most give credit for. In division games, the best team doesn't always win. It should be a given that a team at least wins one division game, if not two.

I can't see them winning less than 5 or 6 games this year. I wouldn't bet that they'd win more than 7 though.

  8. Based on what I've seen of Shanahan so far in Washington, I'm not convinced he is the right coach for the Skins. Trading for McNabb was not smart. He is likely to be injured a lot. Fortunately, I'm not a Skins fan. Previous coaching record has very little to do with how a coach does with a new team. Each situation is different. But based on previous coaching record, Gailey looks good, his team making the playoffs most years when he was an NFL coach. Gailey will put the players on this team in a position to win. Jauron put his players in a position to lose. There is a major difference at One Bills Drive and the players know it and appreciate it. Listen to TE, for example.

I think I read last year when we were looking for a new coach that no (or very few, like one or two) Super Bowl winning coaches have gone on to coach in or win a Super Bowl with another team. If that's true, then Gailey was definitely tihe better choice, given he hasn't coached a Super Bowl yet.

  9. I don't get it. They scouted the guy in college, drafted him, said after the draft that he was the QB who they were taregeting, and then worked with him all through preseason and training camp (and praised his development). Pretty harsh to conclude after his first, brief, live NFL action that he's not worth developing for the future. It sure seems like either the scouts messed up or the coaches messed up.

I think Gailey alluded to not wanting to keep a QB on the PS because fo the way he runs practices. Maybe he just doesn't want a fourth QB in practice over another player that can work on the scout team to help the starters perpare. I think most of the time the third QB runs the scout team in practice, so maybe they felt he wouldn't get enough work to make it worthwhile.

  10. I'd like to gauge the interest around here in tendency charts. I watch every game, every week, and make a tendency chart for every team in the league. It's a great way to scout a team and have a good idea what to expect when your team plays them. Would you all like for me to post the tendency charts for the Bills every week? Here's just a short example of what a tendency chart looks like.

Edit: Crap, for some reason it isn't posting correctly. Give me a few minutes to figure it out.

Edit: Do tags not work here?

Hell, I give up, here's the link to the image. Let me know if you'd be interested in seeing this each week, thanks...

Please do post those charts. I would be very interesetd to see those.

  11. I have visited this board every day since I've joined. Yes, I have no life. I rarely post, unless I feel I can add something to the discussion. Even then I re-read everything I write twice before posting it, spell check it, and do my best on the punctuation. It can be intimidating place for someone like me that does not have the knowledge that some people have here. For me it just makes sense to just read and learn, but what does it say when a former player and a national sports writer can't deal with some of the posters here?

I'm sorry that you have been put off by some posters (hopefully not me), but mostly I'm sorry for myself because I lose out on some great insight.

**** man, that's a pretty sobering post. I kind of feel sorry for you. Good humility.

So now who do we lynch for Die Hard leaving? I think it's definitely Lee Evans' fault - trade his ass ASAP, he's a bum.

    <just kidding if you're reading this, Lee>

  12. This is not a knock against the board, actually its the opposite.....wonderful place to hang out.

I am going to tell you a little secret but this will change your attitude about your threads and comments!

    Are you ready?

I played for the Buffalo Bills 1967-1972. I read your comments and I now understand the fans better. Just a little warning here!

The players do frequent the message boards, and they do care what you write and yes I personally know 1 former player that posts here!!! Yep, it is true! If you investigate, you could easily figure it out! I did ! I PMed the guy and we now chat from time to time!

So why leave the board now? No player or former player is interested reading garbage about why a player should be waived or why he is overpaid. These are proud, proud former star college football players. The career is short, the physical burden is high and the players are just people. We all have emotions and nobody enjoys bashing! The Buffalo fans are the best but by far the most frustrated.

I will stop by from time to time and read some topics but my responding days are over.

Oh, and my prediction for 2010?

Some of you place to much importance in high skill players. The "team" will determine the final outcome.

Buffalo is better then most of you think and a playoff birth is not impossible!

I thought about placing my real name here, but most likely someone will say I sucked or I was just a good solid player.

Either way I will not be happy because football was my LIFE and still is!

So I ask the question and this is a good one.....

IF YOU WERE A FORMER PLAYER,WOULD YOU PLACE YOUR REAL NAME ON THIS BOARD? If you think about it very carefully, the answer is no way! Some will call this thread a hoax but that should be expected from fans in today's world! Everything is a hoax and everybody is a fraud, not always true guys! Some people are honest and until proven otherwise, learn to trust people!

Good luck on your threads, the season, and GO BILLS!!!

    -DIEHARD 1967

Thanks for your posts - I've always liked your point of view and demeaner on this board. Interesting that you were a former player - I never had an inkling.

I don't blame you for not putting your real name up there - it's not fair honestly. Why should you be the only person who identifies themself on the board (or one of the two or three people who do)?

I'm kind of surprised that current players would come on this board to read the posts, since I couldn't begin to imagine what that would do to your psyche.

I think a lot of people who post on this board are truly Bills fans, however I think they are just tired of losing. The problem is that they are expressing it poorly. It's kind of like getting into an arguement at a bar and then deciding your going to go to your car, get a gun, and shoot them. It's just plain overreaction and a lack of clear thinking. I personally get tired of hearing fans talk about why a team is goign to be terrible, how everything they do is crap, and how that casual fan's opinions are the gold standard for how a football team is built. There are too many teams and different ways of doing things to say one way is the only right way. As a result, I don't know how you can second guess every single move the club and players make.

  13. I don't see this as some clever plan to put the guy on the PS. If he ahd potential and you wanted to PS the guy, why would you cut him first as opposed to playing him a lot in the last preseason game to get him some work? The PS theory doesn't hold water.

I guess the thinking would be that you make it loko like he's crap, so no one else signs him and then you can get him on the PS. The problem with this is that why the hell would another team sign a cut 7th round pick a week before the season starts? Maybe he was jus tthe worst OT on the team, so they cut him...

  14. Hope it was injury-related, or it's yet another draft day mistake by this unaccountable FO.

And btw, with Wang injured, that means there are no draft picks helping this year's offensive line. What a crock.

So if they had drafted David Nelson instead of Calloway in the 7th round, you'd think they did a good job? Who the hell cares if a 7th round pick makes the team? It's not like this guy was going to start or even play this year. You can't pick a Steve Johnson every year.

  15. I just watched the Bills-Bengals game and I thought Stroud looked awful. For a 300 lb man, he was pushed around easily and just couldn't hold the point of attack at all. Anyone else notice?? I just kept asking myself what does Stroud well?

My question: Is Marcus Stroud's position on this team safe?

OK, admit it - you didn't watch the game, you just re-created it with balled up pieces of paper towels in your bathroom...

Seriously, I think Stroud has looked great this preseason - better than he looked all last season. I've seen him get eaten up inside - as you pointed out - but I've also seen him be pretty dominant at times as well. He had a great game against Indy. Not to mention, he looks like a 5 tech DE, which has to say soemthing considering he never played it before.

On top of all that, he's a lock to make the team just because there aren't any other options. Do you think they'd cut Stroud to keep McCargo? Maybe Rashard Duncan? Give me a break.

Oh my god. I can't believe anyone thinks that. With all due respect, there are reasons our defense stinks. There are reasons everyone runs on us at will. After watching Stroud the last 2 weeks, he's produced more evidence that he is part of the problem that part of the cure.

Answer this: What does Marcus Stroud do well? I am open to being convinced.

Perhaps Kelsay is confused because our line is getting blown off the ball. Or maybe he is just confused. But at least he shows up on every play with effort.

You might be the first person ever on this board to, in one post, both defend Kelsey and knock Stroud.

    Someone ding the bell.

  16. I'm shocked...shocked and stunned...very stunned.

Any player who quits on a team over money is not worth a nickel.

    PTR

Not to pile on - or take anything away from peters, who I believe is still better than Bell at this point - but wasn't this basically the same criticism of him while he was here? Potentially dominant all the time, but very inconsistant. I guess the money didn't change him at all.

  17. Oh, you mean the same kind of false starts Demetrius Bell is getting? The same kind Ruben Brown used to get?

How much does Bell get per false start? He is probably at least $900,000 in front of Peters from last year alone.

We arent taking Wood and Nelson over Peters...We are taking Demetrius Bell or Jamon Meredith over Peters...Hence the reason our Offensive Line still blows donkey dick and there is not a single player CLOSE to Peters' talent. (And DONT say Eric Wood, because he is literally a Center who happens to be playing Guard...He has no skill to be a tackle and has never played as a tackle.)

SO ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO ARE STILL TRYING TO COME UP WITH REASONS AS TO WHY JASON PETERS IS NOT A GOOD FOOTBALL PLAYER...GIVE IT UP! OUR ORGANIZATION GOT RID OF ARGUABLY THE BEST PLAYER, CERTAINLY THE BEST O-LINEMAN, THE BUFFALO BILLS HAVE SEEN IN A DECADE! WE WERE UNABLE TO REPLACE HIM THEN, AND WE STILL ARE YET TO REPLACE HIM WITH SOMEONE EVEN CLOSE TO HIS SKILL LEVEL!

I'm pretty sure the original poster who you were quoting was referring to the draft pick compensation and subsequent choices made with those draft picks versus the player traded for said draft picks. I think the total compensation ended up being Wood, Nelson, and either Batten or Moats this year.

I think the legend of Jason Peters is twofold - he wasn't as good as his most ardent supporters make him out to be and he was nowhere near as bad (when in shape) as his most fervent detractors would like everyone to think. If you take an objective look at the trade however, I would say at this point it's pretty even. Peters played well last year until he got hurt and then his play tailed off. On the other hand, we got Wood, who was pretty good, albeit not as good as Peters prior to injury, but he does have more upside at this point in his career than Peters, who should be entering his prime. Wood will get better than he is right now.

Since Nelson is out, and neither Batten nor Moats are going to do anythign this year, the jury is still out. In two years or so, when it we know about Nelson and have a better idea of Moats/Batten everyone will know who got the better of this trade. Right now it's even, but if Peters has a big year, then the Eagles definitely pull into the lead, regardless of what our two players do this year (aside from both being Pro Bowl starters, which is unlikely).

One part of this trade that might be interesting (and which I have no idea of at this time) is how trades of one player for multiple picks/players work out for each team from an historical prespective. It seems like all the ones I can think of off the top of my head end up better for the team trading the one player, but there has to be examples going both ways. The first that comes to mind Herschel Walker being traded, which was a big boone for Dallas and a flop for Vikings. Maybe one that fits mroe closely to the Peters' situation is the hodlout and trade of Sean Gilbert in the late 90s/early 00s. He held out and then was traded the next year to Washington, where he did nothing for a while.

Anyone else think of another senario like this trade?

  18. I remember the darkest period in this franchises history very well 1984, 1985 and in 1986 the light began to flicker on.. I think this year will resemble 1986 and 1987, if only we had a young Jim Kelly. However what we do have is a much milgned O-line that is very young. This is very similar to 1986 and 1987. We had a very strong interior line that was young in 1986. It was Kent Hull at Center (he was an NFL rookie although he played in the usfl). The Guards were Jim Ritcher a 6yr vet but I would say Wood is his equal and Will Wolford a Rookie with a huge upside similar to Leivtre although Leivtre has that extra year. The tackles were definitely the weak spot in 1986 as they are now. Ken Jones a 10 year veteran was at left tackle. He was on the downside of a career that he started as a DE. He did play with Electric company but he was at the stop gap capcity by 1986. I think that Bell has a much better upside than Jones did. That is why Wolford was moved to LT in 1987. As the most talented lineman he was moved. But his inexperience lead to mistakes that year much like Bell. The two places that this line had the current line were RT and Center. Hangartner is not and never will be Kent Hull!! Joe Devlin even on the downside was better than Cornell Green/J. Meredith but even if those positions hold their own this line is beginning to look solid. There are great similarities in the building process much like 1986/1987. Building through the draft with young athletic talent. In 1987 we acquired Tim Vogler and moved him to RG and even though this was a strike year the line play improved over the duration of the season. Then in 1988 after two seasons of growth this young talented O-line began to gel and would carry the team through the Super Bowl era with a couple changes here and there from year to year. In 1989 we drafted Howard Ballard and shifted Joe Devlin to Guard. I think this was part of what contributed to the "bickering Bills". Ballard was a turnstile at RT in his first year and Kelly called him out weekly but he got better. I think that this is where we are at and now and this is the formula that is being implemented. This line will be very good just give them a little time! I have a good feeling that our offense is going to turn the corner on last decades abysmal performances and the o-line will be the reason.

Good post and very interesting parallels. I hope to hell that it works out that way.

I'm with what seems to be the majority of posters on this thread so far that Bell needs time to play to see what we have in him. It's certainly possible that he's fine at LT for the foreseeable future. I do think that eventually Hangartner and Green will be replaced, as the seem more like stop-gap types (Green moreso obviously). I don't share the optimism on Meredith, but do think he deserves a chance to play at RT efore we make any final judgements.

It seems like most good offensive lines start out somewhat good and add more pieces over a few seasons to become dominant. To put it another way, I don't think teams go from having a terrible o-line to having a great o-line in one season. I think you go from having a terrible o-line to having a decent o-line with one or two deficiancies (i.e. pass blocking, run blocking, need RT/LT/G/C, etc). Not to say that last year because we could run sometimes, we had a decent o-line - I think right now we're in the stage where we could have a decent o-line this year - but I think if they can be competitive, not lose anyone to IR, and identify whatever weaknesses that line has, they will be able to go after players to fill those deficiancies. When everyone on the line is hurt or out of shape, it's hard to tell exactly what you have, which makes it difficult to identify the weaknesses. For instance, does anyone really know how good of an RT Butler was? It's impossible - he wasn't on the field long enough to make any judgement and I think the same could be said of Bell, Wood, and potentially Levitre.

  19. Confidence is a hell of a thing.

    Cocaine's a hell of a drug!

I love my team but we'll be LUCKY to win 5 games this year. I'm seeing a 3-13 or 4-12 season.

    Miami (L) - 0-1

    Green Bay (L) - 0-2

    New England (L) - 0-3

    NY Jets (L) - 0-4

    Jax (W) - 1-4

    BYE

    Baltimore (L) - 1-5

    Kansas City (W) - 2-5

    Chicago (L) - 2-6

    Detroit (W) - 3-6

    Cincinnatti (L) - 3-7

    Pittsburgh (L) - 3-8

    Minnesota (L) - 3-9

    Cleveland (W) - 4-9

    Miami (L) - 4-10

    New England (L) - 4-11

    NY Jets (L) - 4-12

    There it is.

I think the wins you listed are right, but I also think we at least win one division game, if not two and win one of the Chicago, Cincinnatti, and Baltimore games. I'm guessing 6-10 this year.

  20. My point is that Chan should be focusing on turning Trent into something other than a crappy QB or finding a suitable replacement rather than lashing out at the fans. The timing of this episode just gives me the feeling than Chan is feeling the heat. None of his QBs are performing well enough. I still think putting Trent at the top of the pecking order was a stunt intended up pushing the other 2 to perform better. I don't honestly believe that a man who has been around professional football as long as Gailey can honestly believe Trent is a viable NFL starter. The problem is that his bluff failed. Now he is stuck with Trent and he is cracking under the pressure.

I promise you I will be heckling Trent on Saturday if he performs poorly just as I will cheer for him in the unlikely event that he does something exciting. He had a decent game last week, lets hope he keeps it up. If he doesn't, he's going to hear it and so will Chan.

But your word on Trent is law, right? So what NFL team did you last work for in the personnel department?

  21. This tells me that panic is starting to set in for Chan.

You cannot tell me that today was the first day that people were heckling Trent. He is terrible. He is difficult to watch because as soon as there is any pressure, he folds quicker than Drew Bledsoe.

To me, it is pathetic that Chan lashed out at the fans in this manner. The fans have a right to criticize and heckle players who are not performing well. It does not mean the fans don't wish the player was performing better, it just means that they care about the team and accept crappy play.

This really is concerning to me. Chan is clearly feeling the pressure now that it is getting closer to naming a starter. None of the QBs have stepped up and he is stuck with Trent. Now he is furiously defending his ugly girlfriend.

    SAD. Really SAD.

I think this is a SAD mischaracterization of what happened. I've never gottent he impression from Chan that any pressure has gotten to him yet. I think it was probably a calculated move on his part to do it on the last day of training camp and was probably more for the team than anything else.

  22. Interesting references to Communist nations, where free speech is not something guaranteed. Remember that when you vote for your next Demosocialist here in the USA.

That being said, why would you go to a PRACTICE to criticize a team? One obviously has no concept of the term PRACTICE, as it is not a real, "live", game environment, and therefore is more of a learning, or time to rehearse and perfect skills, techniques, etc. It is about improvement.

So why would one- in a reasonable and prudent mind- openly criticize a player in a practice environment? This has nothing to do with free speech, and everything to do with stupidity.

Expecting the Bills to be good on Sunday is one thing. Being disappointed as a fan if they are not is also acceptable. But expecting...well, perfection in a practice setting?!?!?

That is behavior indicative of someone in need of atleast 1 functioning brain cell.

    Good Job, Chan!

Not to hijack the thread here, but stop with the political side jabs - people who think they understand politics because their fourth grade teacher broke down the differences between capitalism/socialism/mercantilism/fuedalism/early societies/etc using one and two syllable words and a lot of pictures need to get a clue. There is nothing going on in this country right now that anyone with any sort of understanding of world governments and economies would compare to any other governmental or economic situation that has happened anywhere else in the world. Obama isn't Stalin or Lenin and Bush wasn't Hitler. They all love big business and it's need for government, none of them want more than 60% voter registration, and they'd all rather debate (and do for anythign meaningful) behind closed doors. The real rub is that every partisan idiot (on both sides) has been hornswaggled into thinking that of the two possible sides, one is actually better than the other. Statements like yours in the first line of your post help to perpetuate thinking that it is red v blue, dem v rep, me v you when it's actually us v them (being people with money and power). The reason this country has lasted so long is that the people in power and with money have done the best job in history of making the populace believe that they have a chance.

(that was my political rant for the day - and yes, it did feel good)
