Alright. I'll explain it to you like you're a child. The message here is that injuries can derail careers. Bulger wasn't an all-time elite guy, but his career was derailed by injury before it ever really got going. He had 4 great years of production and after that he was done. If he played 15 at his pace, he would have finished with top 10 numbers. Luck could have been one of the all-time greats but injuries robbed him of that, and Tony Romo while not in that upper most echelon of guys, was easily a match for some guys that are in or will be in the hall like Esiason and Eli.
Allen has a long road in front of him, and if he stays healthy, he'll get there, but he has two years of great production under his belt. It takes a lot more than that to get into the Hall. It's more than great production. It's that Allen is doing things never seen in the NFL before.

I appreciate where Costas is coming from and perhaps a full overtime period is warranted.
In the meantime, playing defense is still a requirement in overtime and ours went missing. Had we managed to prevent KC from scoring that TD, I doubt KC’s defense would have stopped Allen, either, and we’d all be ok with the OT rules as they sit now.
If the rules were balanced I would agree. Considering they heavily favor the offense, it's not exactly a fair fight these days.

More than that I think

He has the cumulative stats. That's what I'm saying. You need one or the other. He has 63k yards (6th all-time) and 421 TD's (also 6th all-time), plus he is an 8 time pro bowler. He doesn't have the championship, but he has the cumulative stats.
You don't think Allen is going to have those type of stats putting up 4500+ yards every year?

To solidify it he needs to go win a Superbowl, but he certainly has Hall of Fame talent. As a QB, you need championships and/or cumulative stats to get in these days. That means he needs to play at a high level for at least 15 years, or get a couple Superbowl wins.
The extra game each season will help with the cumulative stats, though.
Rivers is going to make it and he sucked even in the playoffs most years. Not true.

I’ve seen Daboll as an OC for 3 other nfl teams and well….
Giants have a press conference scheduled for tomorrow...

I know it's still early and he has a lot of football left to play, but the dude simply is constantly doing things nobody in the history of the NFL has done before. Perfect offensive games, best 2 game stretch in the history of the NFL Playoffs, numerous firsts in regular season QB play...
This dude is a future HOFer. We are witnessing greatness like we have never seen before at the QB position in Buffalo and likely will never see again. I hope we never take it for granted.

Dorsey is a really hot name outside Buffalo, already. This wouldn’t be a bad move.
Frazier needs to go, and we really need some new blood on that side of the ball, but Dorsey is either our OC, or somebody else’s.
If he goes with Daboll, it’s because we let him. That would get interesting.
Why would Dorsey go to be OC for Daniel Jones and a terrible offense when he could be OC for the Bills and Josh Allen?
Unless he isn't being offered the job here.

GTFO with this bullcrap man.

This is so crazy how many threads pop up on this today when I have been talking about this for the last 4.5 months.

Tired of talking about yesterdays debacle… Every summer the past few years Allen has worked with Palmer on some aspect of his game. Long passes short passes body and foot placement. After watching what Josh has become, what does he still need to work on this off season? Doesn’t seem there is much left to do, he hit long some passes but I guess there is still a little work there, some times he could go to the check down a little quicker, but really what is left to improve on?
Maybe back shoulder throws? Some of them could be a little better but this is really nitpicking.
The man just had the greatest 2 game performance in NFL playoff history.
9 TDs, 0 INTs, both games over 300 yards, passer rating a ridiculous 148.99, 14 total incompletions. 2 potential game winning drives within the last 2 minutes of the game ruined by the defense and coaching staff.
Are you serious?

Through the decades I've seen some great quarterbacks, carry their teams, and "will" them on to certain victories here and there.
However, I've never seen anyone do it like Josh does. When he's on his game, he plays on a completely different level compared to all the rest of the players on the field.
It's a joy to watch, and I am so grateful that he's on our team.
Next year!
Let's go Buffalo!
When Allen is on his game there is literally no defense that is going to work. Doesn't matter if they are in the right play call, have great coverage, etc...he will just make something happen himself and is unstoppable.

We already knew Josh was our guy and how good he is. The rest of the NFL is learning that as well. Tough loss last night we could of won the Super Bowl this year
I'm still pissed about this...there are no guarantees in life...you only get so many shots at this and the Bills blew a golden opportunity in the most idiotic way possible. It doesn't even make sense how badly they blew this from a coaching standpoint.

Looks at the Chiefs, Rams, Tampa Bay. They all basically get super he’s to sign with their teams in the offseason because certain players want to win.
Does Buffalo join the party where FAs will take less to play with Josh Allen?
We already were...Sanders specifically said he wanted to play with Allen

At the end of the day it’s a non winnable debate - however, many experts might agree that Dan Marino was a better pure QB as compared to Jim Kelly. Kelly arguably had the better surrounding cast and maybe the better coaching.
Will Josh overcome and move past the shadow of Patrick Mahomes?
Interestingly enough, the one way that Josh may overcome Mahomes is for one of the reasons why Kelly > Marino. Kelly was tough and a fierce competitor. I am not slighting Mahomes but his sledding has been easier than Josh’s. Josh has willed himself to great play and sought to move forward every year. As good as Josh is the ceiling may not yet be touched….yet.
Josh is a warrior and for this reason alone my money is on him to do what right now seems impossible.
Marino never was as close in the playoffs as Allen was yesterday. Those games were mostly mere formalities.

Ask a friend if you’re too young to remember. But this is where we’re at right now. I remember being ill after the Ronnie Harmon drop and losing that game. But we all knew we were on to something. We discovered the no huddle. Cleveland was one of the big dogs in that era and, just like yesterday, their fans left that game knowing that the Bills were really, really, really good.
Yesterday we confirmed that we have the best quarterback in the league (you read that right, Mahomes fans). We know there is a paper thin margin between the best team in the league and us. We also know now, just like the 1989 Bills, what it’s like to be the “hunted” and how important it is to bring our best every week. Buckle up. It’s going to be a great ride, and this team is only going to get better. Go Bills.
I've been saying this since like mid season when the Bills didn't seem to know how to match the intensity of other teams giving their best shot to them...much like 89

I love what Davis said about this being the standard for the O every week.
Going to be a long off season
Now they realize what it takes every week. Just like the 89 Bills did after their heartbreaking loss. Come back better and tear the league apart next year.

I need to do some homework to determine whether my gut matches actual statistical output (reality), but it certainly feels that McDermott’s defensive timeouts often precede a successful play by the opposing offense.
To that point, Mahomes’ admitted that the Bills defensive timeout gave the Chiefs time to talk about changing Kelce’s route to take advantage of the defense:
“The play to Travis, he wasn’t necessarily supposed to do that, but after the timeout we got a look at what the defense was doing, and he said it to me, ‘If they do it again, I’m going to take it up the middle between both the guys guarding me,'” - Patrick Mahomes
1) My hypothesis is that defensive timeouts in key situations are not helping the team.
2) Why would you take a defensive timeout only to roll out in the same coverage?
Exactly...if they are going to call a timeout at least put a fake defense out there the first time. Makes no sense at all.

In 1988 Buffalo goes 12-4 to win the division for the first time in 8 years and lost the AFC Championship to the Bengals. In 1989 Buffalo underperforms in the regular season and narrowly wins the division before going on to lose a heartbreaker in the Divisional Round. 1990 you have your best season in team history and go to your first super bowl. 2022 Bills to the Super Bowl, I'm calling it now.
1988: 12-4 (Lost AFC Championship)
1989: 9-7 (Lost Divisional Round)
1990: 13-3 (Super Bowl XXV)
I have been saying this for a while...that team just like this one didn't understand how to take every teams best shot and go from being the hunter to the hunted. They didn't know how to match the intensity their opponents payed with each week and it hurt them.
Obviously both teams lost in heartbreaking fashion in the divisional round.
Next year is going to be our time to shine.

No thanks. They’ve already invested a ***** ton defensively…. It’s time to stop making Josh Allen do just about everything for the offense and get him some help.
I guess, if you want Josh Allen to continue to be both the run and pass game while taking a beating and knocking off years of his prime.
I wouldn't mind seeing Olave as a Bill...dude has some jets running a 4.38. Doubt he is there at 25 tho

JOSH picked up the whole O (again) and put them on his shoulders and carried them. No Josh= No Magic.
He can’t take that kind of pounding forever and i would say , much longer. He is our investment and we need to protect him by creating a better line in front of him and a better running game around him (that doesn’t include him to Tre extent it currently does.
The way you beat the Chiefs is you OUTSCORE them. You don’t slow them down.
Allen doesn't take all that many hits...he was among the least sacked QBs in the NFL, so that eliminates a lot of hits on him and most times he is delivering the blows rather than receiving them. He also does a good job of getting down when needed and running out of bounds.
He isn't Newton standing back there and getting hammered on many dropbacks.

I would have liked to see a high popup kick to around the 5. Would have had to return it, can't down it or fair catch it there...Bills were money on those type of kicks all year long, pinning teams inside their 15 with regularity.
