  1. They won't cut an investment like Maybin after only one full season, give me a break. And I doubt they'll cut Hardy with so many WRs injured. Jackson is a lock to stay. It will boil down to who they think is better, Nelson or Hardy? But, saying Maybin will be gone is crazy talk. Ellison won't go either, he is a solid tackler on a flimsy linebacking unit. Once they add more talent suitable for the 3-4, he could be gone. But not just yet. I see Corner, Kelsay (if Ellis keeps his play up), Fitz and McIntyre going (I would not be surprised if Bell takes McIntyre's roster spot). I mean, how many experienced players can Gailey really cut? We don't have any depth and you can't depend on rookies.
  2. Is he injured? He definitely was suited up, so I dunno what the deal is. But I looked for him all night. He should be a big weapon, so I'm a bit surprised that he hasn't been on the field.
  3. First off, I think the most important thing that Bills fans can take away from this game is that Gailey was able to get his team to rebound in a big way off of the first game. Arguably the best half of preseason football the Bills have played in a long time. Anyways, here are my thoughts, for whatever its worth: 1) Gailey looks to have figured out a way to build an offense around Edwards strengths. He is never going to be great, but he could definitely be capable of getting the job done. Having Parrish involved in the offense looks like its going to be huge for Trent. Jauron is a moron for not letting the guy on the field, good god. 2) The defense is going to have a lot of trouble against the run. They are soft around the edges, mainly because they still lack size w/ their linebackers. That being said, Stroud and Williams looked great as they made their transitions. Maybin didn't get many snaps from what I saw, but he definitely got pressure on both blitzes he was in on. And Ellis looks like he has adapted pretty well to the 3-4. 3) This secondary might not have last year's success now that the Bills are rocking the 3-4, but they are capable of big plays. I'm not just saying that bc of McGee, I'm saying that because it is by far the defense's best unit. And McKelvin looked real strong in his reps. Don't forget how much big play ability that kid has. 4) Spiller is obviously a talent. I'm impressed, though not surprised with his performance. I would have loved an LT, but this kid was well worth the pick. 5) The O-line is going to get people hurt this year, I hate to say it. I expect improvements from the G's, but Green is looking like a shorter version of Langston Walker. Slow feet and Trent almost got Eli Manning'd 6) Pass rush looks improved, but still lackluster. I maintain that Maybin will make a difference at some point this year. Crossing my fingers. 7) Where is S. Nelson? Does anyone know? Did he not suit up? I haven't heard much about him in these two preseason games. I love his talent, though I understand he can't block and Gailey is not a fan of TE's who can't block. 8) Get the !@#$ out of Toronto. No one is there. Overall, the sky isn't falling. This is the team I expected to watch. A team that is not going to go down easy, though clearly has a way to go. Lots of promise though.
  4. Can't see Fitz on the team if Brohm shows even the slightest bit of promise. Way more upside. If the Bills were a team in the thick of competition next year, I could see Fitz being the guy. But for all intents and purposes, this is a rebuilding year. And thus, I can't see how they keep Fitz and dump Brohm. Has S. Nelson seen the field at all? I haven't heard his name at all when talking about TE's.
  5. I gotta say, good for Gailey for getting the team ready to go. At the same time, is he playing with fire leaving certain guys in so long?
  6. Still maintain my point, that was a great play by McGee, but I want to see some solid stops by this 3-4. Can't depend on balls tipped by the receiver. They aren't putting Maybin on w/ the 1's?
  7. Despite my doubts about Edwards, I'm starting to realize just how much of his issues have to do with an O-Line that is getting him killed. The lack of O-Line depth is scary.
  8. Damn. So what is it now? Nelson, Huggins, Easley and Hardy all messed up? Injury bug still seems to be all over the Bills, though I think it is much more pronounced on our team bc of we lack roster depth. Nelson and Easley looked really promising in camp. In other news, sounds like Chad Jackson made the roster hahaha.
  9. Excellent take on Maybin. One of the most astute observations out there. Seeing as though he got a huge amount of snaps yesterday, I imagine that Gailey said...welp....the only way he is going to learn is to put him out there. The guy is young and hungry, let him take his licks and hopefully he'll hand some out in the process. Not an entirely positive sign (if the coaching staff saw him as a huge contributor there would be a concern for injury), but the kid works hard and has talent....you have to imagine he'll put it together at some point, regardless of his weight.
  10. Deja vu? Before the first preseason game, Trent says all the right things "oh, I've learned so much from last season, I'm ready to work hard, I've got to win the job, we have a long ways to go but I'm very confident...blah...blah..blah" After immediately getting dismantled he starts going "Bad game, we have to get better..and most famously....we're going to have to watch the tape". Dude! Its not the tape, I promise. Some of these vets must be having nightmares of last year. Sounds pretty gross. I have to say. at least no major injuries on defense.
  11. I hear mixed things on Maybin. Can't tell if everyone thinks he should be getting a sack on every snap or if he is really getting man handled. And my boy at the Buffalo News hasn't updated the "live" blog since halftime, so I'm pretty much shooting in the dark. Only 4 touches for Spiller?
  12. Who will impress: Spiller Carrington Troup Whitner Maybin Levi Nelson Parrish Who will depress: Fitzpatrick Mckelvin Stroud Most linebackers Mccargo The entire o line We shall see. But I figure this post isn't any less stupid than anything else written about the game tonight
  13. The only franchise that would consider trading a top LT away is the Bills. Good OTs are about as likely to get traded as franchise QBs.
  14. Anyone else here the conversation? I'm curious about what further thoughts he had on Maybin. Sounds like the coaching staff does NOT like Maybin on the field in running situations. I have to imagine that Maybin can drop back in coverage better than Torbor, given his speed, height and athleticism. So, it must be goal line and running situations where Maybin is gonna be off the field. He needs to work at it, but at least the kid is excited to make an impact.
  15. Interesting point. But still seems kind of bizarre. That kind of self awareness is mind blowing. He is essentially saying that "In being indecisive, I allowed for a decision to be made for me". Certainly not the kind of life I plan on living, but at least he is honest. In my opinion, once you've thought about leaving, you've already left. Too bad Aaron had to have the decision made for him.
  16. Nix claimed they won't release him, so this report is in direct contradiction with his interview. Link Nix does not strike me as being a guy who will blatantly mislead the press like that. Not trading Lynch is evidence of that. I wonder if RW finally said, you know what, 8 million dollars isn't worth proving a point. Is his salary the reason why a trade is off the table?
