  1. I think we should take the player that will have the greatest impact on the team at the time of the pick... I would accept almost any position except QB honestly.... as long as he is the best available that we can use and hopefully start.
  2. With player salaries skyrocketing and injuries spiraling out of control I think there is some legitimate call for more of a one platoon team than the current two platoon system. That means players have to play on both offense and defense with only limited substitutions. ST has unlimited subbing.... I know that there is a new pro league starting up, if they used a single platoon style would that make things more exciting for you? Just different? Would you want to watch it?
  3. Absolutely, but you have to look at the numbers (I'd prefer Combine numbers) to make sure he will be fast enough and does have enough acceleration to make it at the pro level.... No 4.6 WR is going to be a #1 WR at the pro level... I don't think you look at the numbers so much to see how fast, but is he fast enough? Does he have that burst? If he doesn't he isn't worth taking in the first round, and probably not in the second either.....
  4. Why is Desaen Jackson not what we need? Jackson and Thomas are the two best options at WR this year. Not that the Bills need a #1 WR.... those two have the best chances of helping this season, and provide flexibility should Evans not resign... Hardy has potential, but as noted his acceleration is woeful...
  5. I heard Lee Evans was going to Dallas for two 1st rd picks! Jp was going to GB for a 3 and 4
  6. But my point is what is it worth? Would you rather have a team of all high characters and very few high talents or all high talents and few high characters.... a lot or few? Do you pay a guy like a talent for his character? (If you don't what does it say about your organization? )
  7. You just haven't met the right QB yet, is all....
  8. I am curious what everyone thinks CHARACTER is worth? Talent is obviously worth quite a lot, and unteachables like speed, genetics play a significant role in the value of a player, but just how much is his character worth? High character guys can be an asset to the locker room and are the players that often by their determination and will can change the momentum of a game going badly and turn things around. They also often have a calming effect on young immature personalities around them, shaping those talented players mindsets.
  9. Mine Was Coy Wire and JP because those embraced the team and the community so much. If the Bills are truly about Character, those two guys have an awful lot of it. I am actually still mad about Coy getting cut since he had a cheap year to go on the contract.... he wasn't expensive and he was an all-around good guy and STer.... but he's gone and I will get over it by training camp. I haven't warmed up to Trent yet, though from the first time I saw him in a pre-season game I thought the kid was for real. (How 'for real' remains to be seen, but I like his chances.) From what I gather about him personality from interviews, etc. I need more time to formulate a solid opinion on him. Jason Peters was a guy I sat in the Chat room on draft day and was madder than a wet hen when the Bills didn't take Peters in the 3rd, or 4th rounds when I was so sure he was going to be gone before our next pick.... then we signed him to an FA contract and the clouds parted the sun shined and my all was right with my Bills again. But of the current Bills, my newest favorite player is POZ! I just like everything about the kid! I really hope he makes the transition as he was outstanding in college. Class act, high motor, self motivated, Intelligent, and fast.... not much more you could ask for in a Bills player.
  10. True enough, but I did see Ko get dragged more than I would like too.
  11. I don't see the point of bashing any bills player.... I want them all to improve and get better each year, and always keep in mind that this might be that year the light kicks on with one of these "disappointments" and suddenly we are rewarded for our patience. What good is it to bash our own team? I'm not implying that you have to like every player or that you shouldn't be critical of their play, but to say that they can never improve, and they are worthless is foolish since we know these players had very rare talent to just get an NFL contract. I've defended Johnson, Flutie, Bledslow, JP, and Trent. I did not defend Todd Collins, and I always understood AVP was a stepping stone....but I never bashed those players either. I never defended those players because I thought they were without fault or did not have huge areas to improve in. I defended because I always believe the new season can surprise us, and a player or two can breakout that we would never have expected. It may not be the player being bashed, but the bashed player only benefiting from another's improvement.... doesn't matter. Criticism is only good when it is constructive, and far to often I have seen bashers list a half dozens things wrong with the team/player but its only griping and not constructive. This is why the best way to handle things is not to confront these whiners but to silence them with the incontrovertible facts when they make erroneous statements, but otherwise ignore the rabble..... I'm just a lurker who only posts around draft time.... I probably now am some sort of baby blood drinking monster for posting!
  12. What I thought was interesting was that it was reported that JP was there and attended position meetings, but JP was not in the list of players seen by CB.... Marshawn was another notable absence, though Peters isn't. Stroud is an unknown since he may be closing up personal stuff or something else we can't know.
  13. Let's not forget Steve's Pig & Ox roast, Hoak's and Nino's or Texas Red Hots at Seneca city line...
  14. We need a #2 WR not a #1 WR.... we can wait until the second round and get a quality #2 WR.... I'm not opposed to taking an OLB or a DE either...
  15. I could live with Rivers, but then are we going 3-4? I really would rather have a starter then a backup....
  16. Just our #11 & 5th picks could fetch us Minnesota's #17 and #47....why give JP away for free? And we need to get a QB in return... Minnesota aint got that!
  17. Leodis Mckelvin if he's there...Mike Jenkins looks good too... Also taking a CB isn't BS since it would allow us to hybridize our coverages giving us better opportunities to blitz effectively. I am starting to suspect that if we can't move down we will take a CB at #11.... then a WR in the 2nd and a TE in the third....
  18. True enough, but you don't draft backups in the first two rounds.... you draft starters.
  19. D-jax was still "trying" to be a #1 WR at the end in Seattle, and had lousy QBing in SF, now at #2WR he still has the potential to beat many teams #2CB.... he does drop easy passes, that is true... I had forgotten about that....
  20. OK fair enough.... I think we should maybe try to work a deal with a team that has several picks in the top 2 rounds and see if we can work a deal (With maybe QB for QB in it) where we swap first rounders and pick up another pick or three in the 1-4 rounds or something similar.... To be honest, I'd be willing to trade right out of the 1st round all together for enough 2's and 3's
  21. I wouldn't be surprised if we went CB at #11.....and then tried to get back into the WR bonanza lower in the round by packaging picks/players
  22. It would be awesome! I just don't think we should invest a #11 in a guy who is going to rotate on the bench for 3 years and only be a situational player. We need an impact player at #11 hopefully who fills a strong need. I believe WR or DB will be addressed early, with TE, LB, DE, QB, S and ST depth being added on Day two.... Unless we get trade offers, or someone drops to us at a position of need (Like Edwards did) we probably will be looking in that order.... We need to take a young QB who has decent potential (Like a Tom Brady in the 6th) that can eventually be groomed for the #2 job.... I don't know what we do with Losman yet, since to trade him we would have to get a QB who can be a solid #2 in return from that team.... Unless we package him to move up for Gholston which might be a problem too since we'd have so much coin tied up in our DE's and again they are going to rotate.....for a year or more.... Maybe Package him to move back into the 1st rnd to grab a WR....(now that would fit the Bills style) Remember we need STARTERS on day one, and depth, backups that can be groomed eventually in a starter role (even if on ST) someday on day two
