  1. Thanks for the specific response (this is so much better than the simplistic theoretical rants which often appear on TSW clothed as some absolute truth with minimal objective back-up).

I have never seen Rattay play (as he has spent his career out on the left coast) so what is your sense of what he is like?

On the face of it merely looking at his stats, he appears to be fairly JP like in his output. A middling QB rating for his career), but he does have the advantage of having a lot of years in the league so he may well be a good teacher for a young QB.

He never has broken through to be a consistent starter anywhere in his semi-long career though and has not even played a lot the last few years which makes me wonder if he had some type of injury or what the backstory is on his career.

Still if there is a credible case for Rattay to be acquired to play the Frank Reich spot starter role for us and also play the teacher role vet Bledsoe played for Brady (a key is for the back-up to not be viewed as all as a starter potentially which Bledsoe was too badly hurt initially to have any QB controversy and then Brady was so good is was never an issue when Bledsoe recovered) if he had few injury issues.

If this is the case, I would certainly agree with your signature message of trading RJ for a draft pick.

I havn't seen much of him, but when he did play I was impressed. I saw maybe 2-3 of his games in San Francisco, a few in Tampa Bay, and A few plays from a Arizona game last year.

If I had to descibe him, I would say imagine Trent, with a slower release. He is fairly accurate, and puts enough zip on the ball to get it to the receivers on time. Although, he IS like JP in the sense that, he had the chance to start, and never improved enough to keep the job.

Here is a video on him. While it's not the greatest, you can get a pretty good look at him. (and you can see that he has the talent to do well) As far as being a teacher, I couldn't tell you. But teams with young QB's did pick him up. Arizona with Leinert, and Tampa Bay with Gradkowski/Simms.

I'de love to have a Veteran with a similar style to Trent, who we can lock up for a few years. As opposed to JP, who isn't much older, still thinks he can/should start, Will bolt after the season, and plays an entirley different style. The best part is that he wouldn't cost you much more than the veteran minimum.

  2. 2. The guy you're talking about (what's his name) is not a No. 2 back. You're crazy if you think he is.

Seriously, if you don't know who Fred Jackson is, then you either didn't watch any games last year, or you drank WAY too much beer and just can't remember watching the bills last year.

    Here

You should be able to see his number clearly here. Pay close attention to the play at the end of the video.

Here are his stats. That's right, he averaged 5.2 YPC. But I guess he sucks because you've never heard of him.

I'm done with this thread, you can continue to think the way you do, as there is no changing your mind. Just know, you'll be very disapointed on draft day.

  3. 2. Then why don't I know his number. He's a nothing. Finding someone cheap to compete with him is nothing that can't be done.

    4. That's what I'm saying. Getting lucky in late rounds could really help Buffalo. Buffalo needs offensive players not defense. And I'm reading CB on the NFL Network and Scott Wrights mock draft. To me that's just stupid. How many points did Buffalo score last year.

p.s. what's wrong with medium priced free agents. Especially on defense. They can produce for you. That way when a offense player from the draft goes bust you can keep taking them.

Furthermore, the Detroit Lions are a prime example of a draft that was totally screwed up.

Instead of taking a wideout they could have had Adrian Peterson. Yea, the had two other starters. But look at them now. They are in need my friend. Instead of taking WR No 1. overall they could have gone after QBs and RBs.

Ok we are working the list down, we're making progress!

    2. Why you don't know his number has nothing to do with how good he is. Ask other posters, watch games from last year, he is plenty good enough to be the number two.

    4. We were also one of the worst defensive teams in the league last year. We need help/ depth on both sides of the ball. And You say we need offensive players but are against taking a WR/ TE early. You can't take a chance on a late round pick and expect him to be great right away, especially when you need to make the playoffs.

Jauron said that we NEED to make the playoffs THIS year, he isn't going to trust the #2 WR spot on a late round pick. And comparing the Lions to ANY other team is like comparing a pony to a thorough-bred. Matt Millen is a moron, Picking A solid #2 with the eleventh pick isn't the same as picking a WR with 3 straight top 10 picks.

Pactrick Kearny wasn't mid-priced, he was VERY expensive. You don't just get a few mid level FA players and expect to win. The Giants had Mitchell and a few others, but they also drafted how many of their defesnive starters? And you could say the same about the pats*. How many players on their D-line were FA signings?

  4. This looks good, We would still get our choice of the top WR's and would pickup some extra picks.

But, I wanted to ask you and some of the other drafts "gurus" here a question. Why hasn't Jonal Saint-Dic (Michigan St.) gotten any love as far as DE's go? He was a senior this year and was DOMINANT when I saw him play. He failed a math class and was ineligable for their bowl game, but that alone shouldn't knock him out of the draft should it? Just wanted to know your opinion.

  5. 1. I didn't say you said take a WR. Others have.

    2. Sorry I'm not buying the Fred Jackson thing. What's his number? I don't even know.

3 Why wouldn't you have good WRs. I said focus on offense with QBs and RBs then WR next. But don't draft CBs and WR first and find good proven defensive help in FA.

    4. I guess you missed Green Bay and Matt Hasselback. You missed Saint Louis and Kurt Warner and Marc Bulger. Bulger was a sixth round pick wasn't he?

    5. Ryan could be had. Don't be sold on him going that high. Parcells is going to take defense.

    6. Rookies do get huge bonuses so why waste it on an unproven defensive player. Take an offensive player. Chiefs and Larry Johnson and Priest Holmes.

S.F paid huge money for Nate Clemens. Did they make the playoffs?

Seattle paid huge money for Patrick Kerney. Did they make the playoffs?

    Did I miss anything?

    1. Than why did you quote my comment when you made that assanine post?

    2. So you didn't watch the bills last year? He was solid when he played, You don't draft a fourth RB because your 2nd best RB might not be great.

    3. You wouldn't have good WR's because what % of late round picks develope into great players? For every Colston ther 25 Sam Aiken's.

    4. GB had a HOF QB (who has missed all of 0 starts) for Hasselback/ Brunell to learn behind. (we don't have one) Same goes for QB's as it does for every other position, Sometimes you get lucky in late rounds.

    5. The best Qb in the draft isn't falling to 11, Miami, Atlanta, and Baltimore all need a Qb.

    6. All rookies are unproven, not just defensive rookies. Priest Holmes was getting older, they needed a young running back. The Bengals took Chris Perry when they had R. Johnson, how'd that work?

And Seatle was already a playoff team in the worst division in football, they would have made the playoffs with or without Kerney. And how many FA signings like that can you expect to make? Do you realize how much money he makes?

  6. Some of you guys sneer, but the league is littered with the wreckage of great college WRs who timed poorly and subesequently tanked in the pros.

And i could give you a list equally as long with WR's who were picked high because of their times who turned out to be busts. Charles Rodgers anyone?

As I said in another thread, you always look at the individual player. Not the statistics, numbers, or trends.

  7. Buffalo could use another weapon at RB. What if you have an injury? The Bills don't have that luxury. The QB situation is muddled at best.

Keep talking about a wideout . . . makes no sense.

First of all I would like someone to point out where I said "take a WR" in that post.

Secondly, we have Fred Jackson backing up Lynch. And while Wright didn't do much last year, it's way too early to give up on him.

Third, Who the <_< is going to catch all of passes from your 17 Qb's? If we had gone with your srategy, We wouldn't have Evans, Parrish, or Reed.

Fourthly, We wouldn't be able to trade the QB's you would draft because teams would just hold us hostage. Why would they pay a premium when we have no leverage?

Fifth, Which Qb is worth taking at 11 this year? Ryan is going ot gone by then, and the next probably won't be taken until the second round.

Sixth, Rookies (especially 1st rounders) Reciev huge bonuses, paying all that money to players on the bench is a waste.

Seventh, If paying all that money to players who will never see the feild wasn't enough, do you have any idea how much cap room would be needed to pay for an entire free agent defense? Clements alone got 80 million dollars. Good luck getting 11 players to start for your team, along with sufficient backups for them.

    Did I miss anything?

  8. Who in your expert opinion do you think are the possibilities for that role.

Saying that will not be JP is an answer to that question. However it is not a mere negative answer which one need not be an expert to give. A truly expert opinion is one that gives the positive options as it really only takes a child to just say no.

My opinion may not that of an expert, but Tim Rattay would be a good option for us.

  9. I dont remember much of my 10 days there except for Papa Joes and Dons Lighthouse...DONT TAKE YOUR WIFE TO EITHER!!!...

Oh and I think it is still legal to drive drunk there as long as you put your hazard lights on. that way if you hit someone it will be their fault for not getting out of your way.

    <_< Sounds lovely.

  10. Much rather have the 360 lineup. Not even close.

Like I said to each their own, lucky for both of us games like COD 4, GTA 4, and Vegas 2 are out for both systems.

i will say this though, lineup or no lineup, You'll never convince me that the Wii is a good system. Can't stand that thing.

  11. And miss mass effect, halo, gears of war, bioshock, etc, etc

Yea, you could have a 360 with HD-DVD and miss out on BlueRay, Resistance 1 and 2, Gran Turismo 5, MGS, and 2+ weeks of gaming while you wait for Microsft to fix your system... again.

But to each their own :censored:
