  1. I'd prefer the 1st round pick goes to a player who can be an immediate contributor to the team than a shot at a player who won't see the field this year and is likely to never develop into a quality starter, especially in a year where offensive talent coming out is lackluster. I'm also not convinced he will go in the first round.

I take your point about wanting a player who contributes this year, considering how long it has been since the team amounted to anything. But I still think we need a franchise QB and the sooner we get one the better. Maybe it's not Lynch, but he seems the best bet at 19.

Funny...I'll lose my mind if we pick Lynch.

I don't like him at all.

Why not? Strongest arm, 6'7". Bright. What's not to like. I'll admit I have only seen him at the Combine, so maybe there are reasons for not liking him. But he is going to be picked in the first round by somebody, so I say, way not the Bills?

Who has the most velocity at QB? On the radar gun: Paxton Lynch - 59 mph Jared Goff - 58 mph Carson Wentz - 57 mph (h/t @Ourlads_Shonka)

    Kevin Clark Retweeted Matt Miller

A GM told me he's finding that QB velocity is a lot more important than he thought and that research surprised him.

Lowest velocity of 2016 Combine quarterbacks? Connor Cook, at 50 mph

Yeah, Lynch is going to be special in the NFL. Hope he's there at 19. If not, what's the name of that Michigan QB who played so well in the Senior Bowl. He'd be a good later round pick.

  4. Based on what I have learned by reading many threads on TBD, I think the following will happen:

Rex wants a big nose tackle, and a mike LB who is big and can take on a RB at the line of scrimmage. Whaley will get him these players through FA or draft.

If this is correct, it doesn't seem like a bad idea. My biggest concern with this scheme is that it relies on a small number of players with unique physiques and capabilities, which means injuries/depth will be a major concern.

If Rex craps the bed next year (I think he will), then the 2017 season will be a rebuilding year with a new staff, and 2018 will be THE year (again).

My concern with Rex is not his football IQ, but the fact that he seems to run a loose, disorganized team. I get the feeling that practices are not organized or effective, just based on players who don't seem to know what to do on the field. Lack of discipline and accountability leads to players who aren't concerned (scared) about making penalties or fumbling.

Poor time management, late getting plays in quickly, poor attention to detail (functioning headsets, TV monitors to assess red flag challenges, etc.), are some of the reasons why Rex will fail if he doesn't fix things. He shouldn't be spending his time as the de facto defensive coordinator. He should be spending his time doing head coach things, which may not be as hands-on as he likes, but that's the nature of the job.

Here's someone who watches the games and gets it. :worthy:
