  1. according to espn preseaon power rankings, we're #28. Fine, but what i dont understand is last year, they ranked us as #21, where did we get worse? I think we only got BETTER this offseason, unless you consider the loss of T.O. a major blow to this team. This just shows the overall respect we get from the entire league and media.

Last year we "thought" we had a decent QB who was only going to improve in our fast paced no-huddle offense. This year we know we don't have a good QB

  2. Despite Chan repeatedly alluding to installing a run-heavy offense, I keep seeing national media bloggers referring to the idea that Chan will be running a spread offense.

I don't watch a lot of college football, so can anyone tell me if there is such thing as a run-heavy spread offense or am I correct to assume these bloggers don't know what they're talking about?

And in regards to our passing game- if we do employ a lot of 4 and 5 wide sets, could that mean that our stable of young receivers (especially Hardy, who reportedly has trouble reading defenses and adjusting his routes accordingly) will have a greater chance of success by running college style routes in a spread passing attack?

A spread can be run heavy, think Florida and West Virginia. i am really thinking we will see some pistol type stuff like he used in KC. It is a shotgun but can be very run heavy.Tyler thigpen put up pretty decent numbers with it. Some people say it is gimmicky an bash it. But if it works I am all for it.

  3. Lynch has NOT underperformed.......he just has an attitude problem.

If we took Russell I would want a heck of a lot more then him....more like Russell and picks because Russell would not be the guaranteed starter

Just like Lynch is not a guaranteed starter. He truly underpreformed last year when given the opportuniity, it doesn't matter if that is a result of an attitude problem or not. Anyhow, I wouldn't do it. I'm usually for taking looks at certain guys even if they didn't work out somewhere else. but if we trade we get his salary as well and that us the main reason.

Whaty about Brady Quinn? I don't feel he i smuch better than what we have have but might he be worth a look? probbly get him for cheap

  4. everything we do looks and feels like its at a "J.V." level to the rest of the league. I would love to be a glass half full guy at this point but I would have to seriously delude myself into thinking that this offseason was a home run...let alone BARELY a step in the right direction.

So as I am certain, the faithful watchdogs that rationalize every move the Bills make/do not make (while killing every other team for taking more direct steps to better their teams).....will flame me for this post, it is what it is. THere's not too many people that cover this league, that work in the league, are fans of other teams or just casual observers of the NFL...that look at the Buffalo Bills franchise and get excited or inspired. We field a team, thats what we do. You can watch it in the behavior of those who cover the league on TV, they can't say it but they are thinking it: we're a joke. They only talk about us because the have to and do not wase an extra second doing so. Our moves are always so questionable and off-key. As if we are looking at a different set of circumstances for ourselves that nobody else sees. If it had amounted to ANY success in a decade, then we could say there's real insight and knowledge there. But it never does.

I love the fans here, we truly love this team. Up there with the cheese heads as the top tier. The downside of that is that it blinds many of us. We take everything we do or do not do and act like theres a secret set of motives that are so genius, so we should wait as the best is coming. Jerry Jones once praised Chan Gailey! Hey that 2nd round rech for 3rd round talent was brilliant, youll see. We DID need a RB with the #9 pick BECAUSE we ARE keeping Lynch. A 5th round OT IS something to build a line around for the future. Dont even get me started on the Brohm worship that goes on here...a practice squad castoff is now the great white hope! for this franchise enough to pass on Jimmy Claussen in the 2nd round. Faneca will go to a team that makes moves and takes chances and we will say how old and done he is on this board.

I would bet Buddy and Chan got a full dose of why the chin and shanny never wanted to get near this franchise....the old man prob still pulls the strings on draft day. Even so, we're in the process of getting cheated out of a real competitive NFL franchise for another year but will take the lumps when the financial support of the bad product declines. I wish it were different but we do not behave on par with the rest of the league....and this offseason has been quite painful. Flame away guys. Go Bills.

The Bills haven't done anything exciting, but they are drafting the best players, not just needs, just give it time and then criticize. Our front 7 on d looks to be much improved and the back half of the D is pretty good.

  5. When I see him, I see "great athlete." He is the poor man's version of Tim Tebow having played at a lesser named collegiate football program.

Yeah...Kordell Stewart, Pat White, "Option Quarterbacks", come to mind.

If the Bills are sold on this college "pistol" offense, then sure, I'd take him in the 5th round, but otherwise, I would pass.

I agree with you I also wouldn't mind the Bills using the pistol offense as a base offense. If they don't like what they see in the top guys and this guy is available late he would be worth a look. If not a starting QB could be an athlete/Wr gadget player like Hines ward or antwan randell el early in their careers.

  6. we need a qb as big as a lb with a strong arm

preferably a qb who has pled in northeast

our o-line has much to be desired

Wow, did you come up with all of this yourself? Nobody has said any of these things about our QB needs before. A very profound statement about Oline as well.

  7. Allen Wilson's article about Chan Gailey wanting consistency in the offense was updated yesterday. While I re-read the part about quick-as-a-cat water bugs, I got to thinking, maybe he means that's how he will use Roscoe. I know he was referring to draft picks, but that could be a smokescreen.

Parrish is listed at 5'9" 178 on the team roster. I know we've tried using Roscoe on reverses and other trick plays, and it usually backfires. Lining him up in the backfield and/or the Wildcat is an interesting way to utilize his talents is all I'm saying.

He ran one play as a "wildcat" QB when Mularkey was here. He had abroken finger and threw a 2 yard pass. Nothing against him i just remembered when reading your post.

  8. depth gotten for cheap, which we still need a lot of. if he ends up being a contributer that will work out for us. A lot of people here might expect him to come in here and be good because its a familar name.

More importantly, no word on Roscoe yet? Have we had this obligatory "Roscoe will be a bigger part of the offense presse release or statement yet." I wonder if his role change.

  9. Did anyone else catch the announcement last week by former head of officiating Mike Pereira that he would like to "get into coaching"? He would like to start coaching teams on "how to cut down on penalties". What a joke--the guy is basically trying to make money off of his prior career as head of officiating. Talk about generating potential conflicts of interest, allowing refs to retire and then start coaching the teams they were just sitting in judgment of, or, in Pereira's case, getting paid to coach a team on how to avoid penalties from his former subordinates.

What a slippery slope that is--it reminds me of high-ranking govt officials leaving office to take jobs in the private sector where they can "work" their former govt contacts to the tune of huge bucks. No one ever sees anything wrong with that, right? Give me a break. I always thought that Pereira looked and acted like the kind of guy who you wouldn't trust with the Lord's Supper, but this just confirms it in my book. If he's this greedy and sees no potential conflict here, who knows what he did do while he was officiating head. Just my two cents. I was actually pretty shocked that journalists didn't immediately shoot this down as just a stinking, rotten idea from head to toe.....

I think it looks like a great idea, the guy retired but still wants some work. He is not in charge of officiales any more and he could give good insight to a team in a coach/consultant role. This happens all the time, people start second careers based on info from their first careers.

It would take a creative coach to hire him but why not

  10. yea i agree and he did make the pro bowl this year. no one on the current roster comes close to him and a year later we are still trying to replace him.. wilson please sell the team to jim kelly & co.

He didn't want to be here, got hurt when it was cold and ****ty out and got hurt again last year. We wouldn't have won the superbowl last with him anyway. We only have so much money to pay we couldn't pay as much as he wanted.
