Brown can be on the PS. You can have 3 yr. or less in the NFL to join a PS over 3 yrs. and you must be on 53 man roster
-
Is there any estimated day/time that there is expected to be an update?
Haven't heard but can get of Bills sites and rotoworld hoping for something to come up on a deal, lol.
-
We could do it with a 3rd and a 5th. Would be a great acqusition.
Or keep the picks and sign Boss? Rather do that than give up picks which Nix and co. value.
-
I understand this completely. The problem is, we never win any of these battles. Ever. And, you could always use guys on the D-line. Always. Especially when you can't get to the QB OR it's proven that you can't stop the run. I hope I'm premature in my criticism, but if we end up with Smith, and nobody else decent at LB AND O-line, then this is flat out stupid.
You've gotta be kidding me.
\I agree if we don't get a ILB, OT and/or TE then yes Bills FO f'ed it up but we are still way under the cap so we will make a move at those spots.
-
What a stupid, stupid signing! This must mean Evans is getting the boot. I hate this pick-up with a passion. Is this a cost cutting move so that the Bills don't have to re-sign Stevie Johnson, next year? WTF!!! What about Clabo? Burnett? Miller? Boss?
Looks like you haven't read anything posted about how we will use him.
-
Other than to make a smartass comment, free agency has started, otherwise it wouldn't be announced. Pen to paper tomorrow, big deal.
And two, does Brad Smith stop the run, rush the passer, or play tackle on the O-Line or D-Line?
This smells like a team that doesn't understand what makes Brad Smith so effective.......a good team. Kinda like when Washington fell in love, stupidly, with Antwaan Randle El.
We've been linked to OT Clabo and Colon, ILB Bradly, Burnett and Ruud. So we are doing things. and we don't need anyone on the DLine.

http://twitter.com/#!/AdamSchefterBills reach agreement with former Jets WR Brad Smith on a 4-yr, $15 million deal.Brad Smith expressed desire to stay w/Jets several times, but offer never made. Putting finishes touches on deal to #Bills, per sourcehttp://twitter.com/#!/philipaklein
Sweet!
@TheJetsStream The Jets did make a late offer to Brad Smith, but the Bills deal had more guarenteed money.http://twitter.com/#!/SG_Mizzou15
Per a Jets team source.Confirmed by multiple reports.
Finishing touches coming on a deal

Chris White is a thumper type, not coverage
O, thought I read a scouting report that said he was more of a coverage guy.
Nothing against Chris White, but If you can a better player, you do it
6th Rounders are longshots anyway
Agree but you have to think about the money too. White will be cheap while if we get 2 of these 3 Bradly/Barnett/Burnett it will be like 4-6 mill per yr for each. I'd get one of those guys then Siler who we could get for IDK 2-3 mill most likely.
-
so what your saying is we would have to choose between carrying brown as a 3, or signing him off the street/ps if fitz got hurt, and with the latter we get to dress an extra man on gameday. and this would be a tough decision for you how, even if we dont get brad smith?
Someone else could sign Brown off our PS or off the street so yea I'd rather carry 3 Qbs I like.
And I'd rather have Smith as our 3rd QB and Brown on the PS
-
Forgot about Torbor, he could be upgraded not sure though if Bradly/Barnett/Burnett would want to back-up and I am sure Torbor isn't making much but Siler could be had cheap most likely.

I guess there is nothing wrong with dreaming, but 2010 high draft picks such as Troup and Carrington had little to no impact there rookie season, but the guy who played at the NAIA(Is this one step up from Pop Warner???) level is going to make the team and fill multiple roles in his first year?
Uh yea he is that good. What are you taking about the dude is 380 pounds so he is going to kill it from day 1. He doesnt need to learn anything about how to play in the NFL and doesnt need any time to develop.
He is a PS player unless he really is ahead in his development at this point but I just dont see it. Think about who will be on the DL Marcell Dareus, Dwan Edwards, Spencer Johnson, Alex Carrington, Kyle Williams & Torell Troup. I don't see how we can keep 7 guys on the DL when we are going to try and run a 34 more this year.
-
Why not go after him and Barnett or Burnett? Are we really set on Andre Davis a older player who gets hurt a lot and is average when he is in? If we get both then we would have Bradly, Davis, Barnett/Burnett, and Sheppard that's not a bad group of MLB's.
If we have to start Andre Davis I think its a mistake not a tragic one but a mistake.
I'd like that idea but we drafted Chris White in R6 to be the coverage ILB think we could keep 5 ILB?

plenty of teams carry 2 qbs into the season.
then if ur #1 goes down you have to sign a guy off the street, or PS, which imo isn't a smart move you should have 3 QBs on your team.
This man turned the program around at Missouri.. he is one of my favorite players. I just don't see how he fits in Buffalo though.. Bills have plenty of receivers.
again he can be the #3 QB with the new rule and still get to play WR & KR.
-
if the quote from the article is true... why not call just about anyone our 3rd qb, and put brown on the PS, and get to dress an extra guy for free essentially
Smith was the QB at Missouri so he can throw it a bit in case Fitz and Thiggy go down. You dont want a #3 QB who was never been a QB at least Smith was a QB in college.
-
IMO he will go to our PS unless he kills it during the preseason.
-
That safety we drafted is already supposed to be a hell of a returner.
Searcy was the back-up returner. Justin Rogers was the returner for Richmond aswell.

The Cardinals are interested in free agent Stewart Bradley, according to the Arizona Republic.Bradley is generating plenty of interest around the league despite losing his job to Jamar Chaney last season. That's because Bradley has starting experience and can play multiple positions. The Rams and Bills are also reportedly in the mix.

Cardinals interested in Eagles LB Stew Bradley, a UFA. He can played inside and out. Other teams, including Buff, are interested -
Boss as a FA or Olsen for a like 3rd round pick? I'll take Boss who is a better block.
-
Was he used as a wildcat passer in NY?
I think it would be a good pickup because he would instantly become our best returner. And how would this be the Bills if they didn't enter camp with a new returner on the roster?
Yes he was the wildcat QB with the Jets
-
No.

I think we obviously have a greater need for ILB and OT but I would love to have Brad Smith. Chan is probably drooling over him. He can be a very valuable cog in an offense, especially with the new 3rd QB rules. I'm not a huge fan of the Wildcat and think it's already passed its prime, but that is mostly because there usually isn't a real throwing threat from the back running it. Smith can throw. He won't be breaking the bank and helps our offense. I'd love this move.
100% agree, great post!
-
I don't see the need for him. Hypothetically WR is our strongest position. We draft 1st rounders to take care of kick/punt return duties, so there's no need to bring him in for that. I think Buffalo Rumblings mentioned the possibility of the Pistol offense which is crazy because of the shortened time-frame we have to run it in camp.
ESPN New York's Rich Cimini believes free agent WR/KR Brad Smith's value has increased thanks to a proposal in the new CBA that would make all third quarterbacks active on game days.
Smith could now serve as a team's official number-three quarterback while still fulfilling all of his other duties, essentially providing a bonus roster spot. It would be a luxury, but not something that's likely to add many extra dollars to Smith's contract.

#3QB?

Thoughts on Greg Olsen?

Olsen is a FA after the yr. can will cost a lot to get him back. Boss we can save picks and lock up for 4+ yrs. Boss is a better blocker as well imo while Olsen is the better recever and I'd rather have a good blocker.
So 2 picks plus big contract or a decent size contract?
