  1. Now this is where I split with YOU.

    Like I said earlier.....Google "Londonistan."

Assimilation and coexsistence is fine. Great. Nation of Immigrants and all that. But I will NOT submit to the Muslim/Islamic way of life here in the USA, Im sorry. Sharia law? No !@#$ing way.

I just googled it- are you referring to the book? Look, I'm not saying coddle terrorists in our country. I've never encountered a Muslim in the US that demanded we about the Islamic way of life, or heard anything about that in the US at all. I'm with you, F that, I'm not adopting any religion or religious law code with which I disagree. All I'm saying is treat Muslims with the same respect you treat every member of society. Surely you can't disagree with that.

  2. While it is a stated reason, most of what I have read indicates that the use of culture is more of a recruiting tactic than a reason for war. The big motivations behind OBL, Zawahiri, and others is the US presence and policies in the middle east.

This is getting to the root of the matter: how to stop recruitment. As RK pointed out, in today's age, there's no way our culture, MTV, movies, etc. won't infiltrate the Middle East. It's too popular. So, there is nothing we can do about that. We can change our policies, like stop aggressively invading nations and establishing "democracy", and change our attitudes towards Muslims in general, at home especially. A great way to get American Muslims to join terrorist causes is to call them towelheads, espouse hatred towards Islam, and generally isolate them. To nitpick over what the reason for 9/11 is futile now- it is a combination of a lot of things- culture, actions, and crazies. Now, we have to do something about it. I heard Ron Paul say something to the effect of, "We're always going to be wealthy and we're always going to be free, so we better think of some other ways to stop these guys."

  3. Do you ever wonder why in addition to buildings and military barracks they also targeted discotheques? US has been in Mid East for over a century. Why did it suddenly become a problem in mid'90s? There was obviously no problem with the help to drive the Soviets out.

What was going on in the 19th century?

Also, I don't know their reasoning for sure, but I bet the Taliban felt about our help the same way we did about the Soviets in WWII- lesser of two evils, or the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

  4. Uhhh...he DOES "hate us for our freedoms." That is part of it, but I dont cite it becuase its as freaking stupid to say in soundbyte form as "we had it coming."

And one HUGE hole in that little theory...we pulled OUT of a lot of the Holy Land that bin Laden what forced us "have it coming."

Setting up bases in Saudi Arabia and support for that regime (and other un-Islamic ones, by his definition) was OBL's main reason. They hate us for our freedoms?? That sounds more like a "useful idiot" to me. Where did you get that, Rumsfeld? And what does your last sentence even mean?

  5. Ben was always the key to getting back to the island. If Ben is gone, then the island is gone for good.

OOhh, good call. That would also explain Jack's reply when the funeral attendant asked him if he was a friend or family and Jack said neither. As of now, Ben makes the most sense.

  6. I'll throw another name out there: Ben-we know he's off the island in the future. Jack might go because he once saved his life, where Kate & just about everyone else would still hate him and not go.

But if that is the case, then why does Jack become suicidal after reading about Ben's death?

  7. So your argument is, If you make something legal, its usage would not rise ? Or the impression we give our young people does not matter? It would not shape how they may think or feel, or even act? Are you an expert on how the human mind works, or how what a child may see growing up could influence his or her way of thinking?

    Get real

Do you read the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and all state and local laws and codes to your kids at bedtime? If so, emphasize the law against bestiality a lot- we want to make sure they know it's illegal, so they won't do the family dog and all. Lord knows kids would if they could!

  8. What we do now, the laws we change, effects our children and our childrens children. Come on Tom, I don't have to spell it out for you.

This isn't just any country, this is The United States of America. We set examples, not follow them.

If they legalize bestiality, are my children and my children's children going to have sex with animals?

  9. It's so funny that he is so used to wild Lost subplots that he immediately thinks of the craziest scenario possible.

LOL, honestly, a Jin flashback didn't even cross my mind. And it seemed normal to have a Jin fake death and a crazy scheme to try to explain it. Such is Lost.

That's the second time they've used cell phones to hint about the time period.

The first time was when Jack was using the Krazr in the first flash forward.

I've got to start paying more attention to the little things.

  10. Was Hagee McCane’s spiritual advisor for 20 years? Did McCain attend his church for 20 years? Did McCain get married by Hagee? Did McCain’s children get baptized by Hagee? Did McCain write a book based on spiritual advise from Hagee? Did McCain what him to speak and at his announcement for the presidency? (Obama did, but an advisor at the last minute had him pulled from the event)

The answer is NO! N-O! The relationship between Obama and Wright go way beyond an endorsement of candidacy. If it wasn’t for Wright, Obama would either still be a Muslim or at a minimum, as atheist. Read his book, he said it himself.

This faith of Rev. Wright is nothing like the Christian faith that I know. It’s people like this that make a mockery of Jesus Christ and what he stood for.

The things this guy was saying on the pulpit of his church sickened me. Even if your not a person of faith, but believe in this country and its values, it should sicken you also.

Look, I was responding to your statement:

"If John McCain had any association with a similar racist, anti-semite,, and demagogue, he couldn’t hold a seat on the local school board. What Gives?"

and I posted because he does have "any" association with a racist, ignorant ahole as well. The relationship isn't nearly as deep as Obama's is with Wright, but it exists. I just wanted to point that out. Yes, Wright says some pretty messed up stuff, stuff that I do not believe in whatsoever. Hagee also says some pretty messed up stuff. I just wanted to alert you of that fact, because it seemed you thought McCain didn't have any association with religious nuts. Like I said, it is Obama's obligation, IMO, to explain himself. McCain doesn't need to because he merely acknowledged the endorsement of Hagee, and, like you said, hasn't had a long relationship with him.

Also, why did you read Obama's book?

  11. Wow. I'm blown away by that episode. The Michael thing, I think, we all saw coming for a long time now, so I'm not too surprised by that.

    1) After Jin and Sun's dramatic reconciliation, wtf is up with that flash-forward? Why would Jin fake his death and then immediately get married? And to whom? He said he worked for Paik Automotive- is that Sun's father's company? I can't remember. They are both back in Seoul, so maybe to avoid any trouble with Sun's father, Jin agreed to fake his own death in order to let Sun and the baby live in peace. But then how did he fake his death convincingly enough to fool Sun and Hurley and still get off the island? Questions galore, there.

    2) Was it just me, or did Desmond not seemed as shocked as he should've after learning about Charles Widmore. Anyway, the big question there is: what does that black box say?

    3) So, according to Widmore and the boat crew, Ben was behind the fake Oceanic 815 crash. Are they to be believed? It would make sense, but where did the bodies come from, and the plane, and the money? More mystery for Ben.

    4) Is Michael the "friend" on the boat? Or is he working solely for Ben? If so, then who is the "friend"?

5)What was the significance of the lady that drowned herself reading the book upside down?

    6) Who dies next week?! I'm betting Michael.

    Great episode. Just, wow.

  12. I don't agree with that knuckle head either. It's one thing being ones preacher for 20 years and having these extreme views vs. just being endorsed by someone with other despicable views.

If this guy, John Hagee, was McCain's preacher for twenty years he would have a big problem. McCain also rejected any of Hagee's anti-Catholic statements and does not share those views.

True, and Obama needs to stand up and clarify himself on this- like the WashPost op-ed said, he can't just gloss over it. Obama, like McCain, has distanced himself from the controversial points of his endorser, though the long relationship between the two, like I said, needs to be addressed by Obama. I was pointing out with the Hagee thing that McCain has a similar wacko supporting him, and whose support he has carefully acknowledged. So, in reply to this statement:

"If John McCain had any association with a similar racist, anti-semite,, and demagogue, he couldn’t hold a seat on the local school board. What Gives?"

    I posted about Hagee.

  13. Is this the guy that is going to give the invocation at Obama's inauguration?

If so, this country is in a lot of trouble.

Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. heaped praise on Farrakhan.

Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. is the spiritual leader for Barack Obama and was the inspiration for his first book “The Audacity of Hope”.

If John McCain had any association with a similar racist, anti-semite,, and demagogue, he couldn’t hold a seat on the local school board. What Gives?

Read up on John Hagee( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hagee ), whose endorsement McCain has positively acknowledged, but I don't think officially accepted ( http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/02...agee&st=nyt ).

  14. For Ferraro to be called a racist after stating the fact that Obama wouldn't be where he is without being black is ridiculous. He clearly is getting 90% of the black vote because in part due to his ethnicity, as well as votes from whites who feel that a non-white president would be a positive message to send to the world. He may very well still be contending if he was white based on his skills, but I doubt he would be getting 90% of the black vote, which has been the difference in many state primaries and caucuses. I'm disappointed that Hillary has distanced herself from Ferraro. The Obama campaign needs to be challenged on their repeated labeling people as racists because they point out the facts about how ethnicity is a factor in this election, just as gender is a factor for Hillary. If this continues, the Obama campaign risks pushing moderate white voters away who don't appreciate the race card being used without cause.

Although I do think she needed to resign, if not to just save face, I don't think the comment was racist. It was about race, but it wasn't racist- she was addressing that race is playing a major role in Obama's candidacy, in her opinion. This reminds me of when Rush Limbaugh was on NFL Countdown, or whatever the show is called, and he said that McNabb wasn't a good QB and was only portrayed that way b/c the media wanted a black QB to succeed. Regardless of the ridiculousness of the statement, it wasn't racist, it was a comment about race and media. Yet, because Limbaugh brought up race, everyone screamed racist. Same thing here, IMO. I think Ferraro's statement was laughable in it's absurdity, but it wasn't racist.

Damn, I just saw my post count is destroyed.

  15. That would be perfect- getting both peterson/lynch and leonard, but I'm not so sure leonard will last into the 3rd, and there's no way we can spend our first 2 picks on rb/fb, esp with our hole at LB. If leonard is in the 3rd, i'd say great, get him, but definetly don't spend a 2nd on him.
