  1. they are in the midst of a 3 day swing through Utica, Rochester and Buffalo(actually they call it tonawanda)....I am going to see them on Wednesday nite....never seen them before but am pretty excited....gotta get my dead fix this summer...they sound amazing as a "tribute" band....

I never saw the Grateful Dead live but I've seen DSO many, many times and they rock. I've encountered older folks there that tell me they sound like the real deal. Regardless of their closeness to the original thing, they put on a really great show, I think you'll enjoy them.

  2. Well, I for one don't care if Apatow/Rogan movies are predictable, similar, and use all the same actors- they've all made me laugh (except for Drillbit Taylor). I'm pumped to see this. And what about "Undeclared?" That was a great show that is now forgotten

  3. He just wanted to use it as a break-the-ice tactic. If there's a bit of a "relationship" there already, I don't see any harm in tossing a MySpace/FaceBook friend request over as a means to increase communication. There's that much more common ground when he approaches her in person to ask for that cup of coffee.

Now, don't get me wrong here... actually asking her out via the 'net is a total no-no and is probably a quick disappointment. It's also slightly weird. Using it as another means of casual communication? I don't see that as a problem at all as long if it's something that will be welcomed. I brought up the demographic as the younger folks are probably more open to accepting "random" online networking requests. I'm 29 and would have no problem with it at all. My dad is 61 and would probably wonder how the hell someone "found him" online.

Oh, for sure- I guess I misunderstood the Facebook/Myspace angle. Totally makes sense as another means of communication and information on the girl.

  4. I honestly tried to listen to Air America to balance out my radio listening. Al Franken was so bad, not funny, ill-informed and petty, I had to free myself from him permanently. He was bad because, instead of doing his own thing, all he was doing was constantly talking about O'Reilly. On balance, that boils down to openly admitting that O'Reilly is important, and therefore needs to be addressed. They should have been doing what O'Reilly does, nail down an issue that hardly anyone but the extreme left can argue with(or in their case on the extreme right), like Jessica's law, and crush any and all remaining opposition. That alone built O'Reilly's credibility beyond all question.

But yeah, those networks don't have an "agenda". I ask you: FOX started out on the premise that the other news outlets were hopelessly biased. They then proceeded to say that they would put out a better product. Now with their success being what it is, how can you dispute those two claims? Apparently the many more millions that now watch FOX instead of CNN agree with them. Are you saying that all those millions of more viewers they have are racists?

One: Let's stop calling CNN/NBC the "extreme-left" and Fox "extreme-right." They are center-left and center-right, respectively. Let's not act like there's really much difference in the BS they spew. Pepsi or Coke, that's all. The Cable TV News spectrum does not encompass the real far-left or far-right, so let's not pretend Olbermann is Marx and O'Reilly is Franco. Two: the disparity in viewership reflects the political stances of the nation- more people consider themselves Republican/right leaning that Democrat/left-leaning. It is more likely that a person would gather their news and opinion from like-minded sources, ergo, more people watch Fox.

  5. Perhaps I should add it to my sig. I have been using it to bash on McGahee, any Philly fan I talk to, any Ravens fan I talk to, anybody who was bashing our FO for doing the Spikes and/or Mcbaby deals, ESPN, especially Chris Mortensen, and pretty much everybody else who was being a jerk about what Marv did/set up while he was here, ever since the Stroud trade. I would have taken Poz for McGahee, but we got so much more.

    It's simple really:

McGahee(lazy, out of shape, doesn't know the playbook), Spikes(cut), Holcomb(retired)

    for(in order)

POZ(pro-bowler soon), Stroud(there's hardly any injury doubt left) and getting to draft Edwards in our original draft spot in the third last year, and getting to draft Ellis in our spot this year. Oh yeah, and we got rid of Holcomb for Ah You=so what. Both sucked.

Essentially we robbed the Ravens, Eagles and Bears blind, dumped our crap and got pro-bowl talent in return, and Marv and the rest of the FO set the whole thing up.

Last week I got to thank my Raven's fan cousin for taking McGahee off our hands. He didn't want him to begin with. The fun today was I got to thank another cousin's husband (eagles fan)for the 5th round pick that sealed Stroud, and got to ask him how Spikes was doing. <_< His only comeback is Briere...which of course still sucks. ;)

 That's awesome, the Bills really fleeced those idiots. And like Lori said, tell you're cousin's husband not to change the freakin topic!

  6. I hear you- the thing I hate is that when we fired Wade, we started over. When we traded for Bledsoe, we started over. When we fired Williams, we started over. When we scrapped Bledsoe, we started over. When we fired Mularkey, we started over. When we scrapped JP, we started over.

Can we ever stop hoping and just stick with something? The Bills seem to have an attention span of about five minutes.

The new/ potential future fans might as well. My soon to be 19-year old brother is a die-hard Bills fan, just like me, but can barely remember when the Bills last made the playoffs, let alone were a legitimate SB team. He won't ever defect, but he's admitted he follows Arsenal FC more because he's all but given up on the Bills ever being a championship team. Blah blah, my point is younger and potential fans, fans we need for the future of the franchise, don't think of the Bills as a one-time AFC force- we are perennial loser, the new Cubs, with Toronto breathing down our necks. We need to qualify for the playoffs soon or I fear we will lose many fans because of ineptness. This is somewhat Chicken-Little-ing, I realize, but I think the point has merit.

  7. Speaking as a 24 year old, I would never ask someone out via Facebook and have never heard of a connection made via Facebook/MySpace. We're still doing it the old-fashioned way- face-to-face, embarrassing rejections and all. I don't think Facebook/MySpace is so entrenched that women can be courted through it, so to speak. I do know of one instance where a female friend of mine was approached via Facebook and she called the dude a "chicken" in unkinder terms, so I would not recommend it. Maybe it would be more useful for breaking ice, eg: I saw you dig Goodfellas or the Decemberists on your profile, they are cool, yada yada, more than a dating forum. FWIW, I would ask her out like KD/BLZFAN suggested- to a meal, coffee, or drink, over a concert (more of a second/third date thing) in order to get to know her better and let her get to know you. That way you can know if she's worth your time before you start buyin concert tickets....

  8. You mean another game where Bellycheck stole our signals ;) . Cuz that would a lot to do with what play they would call. Or would you prefer to say that he "misinterpreted the rules?"

Dude, c'mon, even without our signals, we would've lost 35-7. It was the gd Randy Moss show last year. McKelvin is a direct reaction to big WR's and our small CB's. Nothing wrong with that, and that doesn't insure success, but it can't hurt.

  9. Which we got for Darwin Walker, who we traded Holcomb and Takeo for.

So really, we got rid out Holcomb, Takeo, and McBadknee for Stroud and Edwards.

Since Holcomb and McBadknee weren't welcome presences here. the trade really goes Takeo for Stroud and Edwards ;)

Huh, I've never seen the big picture spelled out like that. Pretty sweet. Still wishin the best for Takeo.

  10. Ponson has given up 7 ER in 4 IP tonight (so far)- any more evidence needed that the Yankees need a starter to really compete for/in the playoffs? I still have faith that IPK can be a better replacement, but not necessarily a good pitcher (at least this year), especially after trading McCutchen. Will Washburn be better? He probably won't be worse. It's possible the Yanks could wait for Wang to come back, but I don't think he'll be 100% in 4 weeks, and Hughes is just too young to make a huge difference this year. Do they actually give Pavano starts in 4 weeks? Will hell freeze over? Or do the Yankees stay put, thinking Ponson and Rasner are acceptable 4 and 5 pitchers? If they don't make the Washburn deal, at least to see (barring the recent Seattle demand for a quality prospect- he's not worth it), I don't think the Yankees will do damage in the playoffs if they make it at all. And no, this is not a reaction to tonight's Ponson performance- I've believed this since Rasner's June ERA was 5+

  11. Does it matter?

I would hope so- having a check down target would benefit TE a ton in a pivotal year. However, the Bills clearly don't have this guy, so I would agree w/ BillsVet that it will be Royal and it is indeed his to lose, much to my dismay. This is a position they must address in next year's draft, IMO, after all but disregarding it this year. Maybe someone as talented and intelligent as Ryan Purvis would be available in the 3rd?

  12. Terrorist wearing pinstripes are droping bombs shaped like baseballs at Fenway

Oh wait, its just another Yankee win.............

    DDDDDDDDDDaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Yankeessssssssssssssssssssssssss Winnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!

    10-3

Go pop in one of those movies they made about the Tribe and watch the "Wild Thing" do his stuff..

Thats about as close as your going to get to a ring

Dude, dude, dude, why? First off, why be such a jerk about the Yankees? Has being a Bills fan taught you nothing? You like hearing this kind of crap from Pats fans and Cowboys fans? I expect this kind of a-hole stuff from the Yanks fans that are Jets/Giants fans, but not the Bills fans, man! Please, try to show some class. Second, aren't you counting your chickens before they're hatched? The series in Boston isn't even over yet! If they lose today and then drop 2 out of 3 to the O's, everyone is going to be back to crying again, and you're going to hear it from those d--- Boston fans. Let's not act like they just got into the playoffs by winning 2 games. Pull out that s--- talk when you've got something worthy to brag about, like NYY in and Sux out, hopefully in about 2 months.

Hey- I'm just happy things are coming together. Next year we will be rid of Giambi. The combination of Chien Ming Wang and Jaba Chamberlain at the top of the rotation, combined with our bullpen gets me excited. I would be surprised if Brett Gardner doesn't get a lot of playing time- as excited as I am about Nady, I think BG is going to be a good one.

Why do you want to be rid of Giambi? He's having a really good year- 20 HR's and an OBP of .394- I want that on my team. And depending on any more trades they make, I'd put my money on the Yankees offering him a one or two year deal- not the $20 million or whatever option he's got, but maybe $4 a year. Also, Gardner got sent down to AAA with the Nady deal in order to keep him playing everyday. He'll be back up when the rosters expand and might make the postseason roster, but he won't be doing anything in the bigs this year. I was disappointed in his lack of BBs during this stretch he's had in LF, since he had a .400 OBP thereabouts in the minors. Hopefully, getting him to see more AAA pitching in August will bring his eye back and he can make an impact when he comes back up.

  13. Microbrews get WAAAAAAAYYY too much credit in my opinion. They are in it to turn a profit, just like any other business, and if they could actually sell enough beer and work the logisitics, they would ALL become macrobrews in a heartbeat.

You sound like the guy who could drink the same beer twice, and you'd trash the one you thought was brewed by A-B and fawn over the one you thought was from Turtle Shell Brewery.

I am a HUGE fan of beer and am not ashamed to appreciate many of the fine macrobrews. I've had some good micros, and I've had plenty that were certifiably disgusting. I hate when a beer tastes like shiit and then some beer snob tells me I don't appreciate "the art of the craft," like I'm missing something.

I don't question why some like to drink a thick black stout that costs $7 just because it came from some small brewery in Portland. As such, I also don't require justification from anyone else when I throw back a Pabst Blue Ribbon.
