Just curious what others think - because I see that all the time on opposing fans message boards, and I don't relate to it.

I think the window will be WIDE open as long as JA is QB, and Beane is GM.  I don't need any more proof from either. JA is elite, and Beane seems like a wizard w/ the cap, who knows how to build an A1 team for today, and also keep an eye on building a model for success that's sustainable.  We'll lose players like all great teams do, but he is a very good drafter, finds gems in FA, and has a real vision for keeping this team in contention.

I think we'll be knocking on the door for a title every year for at least a decade.  I tend to lean homer, but I also think this is objective based on how good these guys are at their jobs.

    What say you?

It certainly seems that as long as Josh stays healthy the Bills will have a good shot. But I think of the career of Dan Marino, who made (and lost) the Super Bowl very early in his career. Given that and the history of success of the Dolphins under Don Shula, everybody expected Marino to be in the Super Bowl regularly and to win a couple of Lombardi trophies. Never happened.

I think the Bills have every opportunity to avoid that fate, but you never know.

  2. I really don't see this trade as improving the running game. He'll be no help whatsoever with the short yardage difficulties. Singletary is much better than he is, and we haven't seen enough of Cook to know whether he could do what Hines does.

I'm with those who think Moss is going to show much better than Hines for the rest of their careers. As others have said, this leaves the Bills with zero power running option (not that Moss was tearing it up in that area).

  3. I hope this satisfies those fans who want the Bills to acquire somebody just to acquire somebody. I'm sick of that kvetching and I was not convinced they needed to do this.

Or if they did need to, I was more worried about safety and backup o-line than running back, frankly. I don't see how this is going to help the Bills with their biggest problem in running, short yardage situations, at which they have been terrible.

But certainly Beane knows more about what they need and who fills the bill than I do.

Going back to last year he’s had some bad games at home against lesser opponents.  Falcons last year 3 picks, took him out of the MVP race and even the pro bowl.  Good news he usually plays better when it matters the most. 1000 yards 10-0 TD ratio, 125+ rating last 3 games at KC.  He’s the anti-Kirk cousins.

I remember that Falcons game, and yes, he looked really bad, inexplicably, in that game. Especially since it came late in the season right after they had beaten the Pats in New England and he was playing his best ball.

I think even a freak like Allen will have those bad stretches. I expect he will get it out of his system against the Jets.

So going back and watching highlights, I couldn't believe how the Dolphins seemed to have one play - the deep slant or in route - that they ran repeatedly. To his credit, Tua is very good at hitting them. But it was so predictable after a while and I think Pittsburgh was finally able to take it away. Tua simply can't make quick reads past that.

Exactly. Take those routes away and force Tua to throw outside the numbers, and he will collapse like a cheap tent.

  6. No relation to Dwight Gooden (if you remember him).

I am a college professor/writer, the kind of Ph.D. doctor who can't cure anything but your bad grammar but can tell you all about Herman Melville, and my last name starts with a "K."

I agree. i was happy for him..... little did i know the whole fan base would act like they never had business losing a game for the rest of time...

Do you really think, if the Bills had the success that the Chiefs have had, that Bills fans would be any better? That there wouldn't be just as many Bills fans who would act like jerks about the team?

To imagine so is, in my opinion laughable.

    Is that wrong?

Mahomes is one of the most fun players in the league to watch. You almost have to love that guy as a general fan of the game. It's cool that he and Allen have so much respect for each other and have said they're friends off the field.  I also have always liked Reid, and he really paid his dues in Philly all those years.

I also see their market & history has similar to Buffalo.  Not an NFL darling, passionate & crazy fanbase.  Came up short for decades before finally having a team that can deliver.  And Patriots fans hate KC, so that has to count for something.

I find it strange that I don't hate them, because I usually hate any team that ends my team's season even once, and they've done it twice now.

Anyone else feel that way?  I have a feeling I'm going to get a lot of vomit reactions, but I was curious.

I lived in Kansas City for many years, and have an affection for the place and the people there. They are for the most part decent, open, midwestern folk not so different from people in Buffalo. I have never wavered in my support for the Bills, but I did become a fan of the KC Royals and that has stuck with me.

Remember, before he was coach of the Bills, Marv Levy was head coach of the Chiefs.
