  1. If Mort and Schefter had reported that they heard from a taxi driver with inside knowledge of Bill Cowher's hopes and desires that Cowher will be the next coach in Buffalo, you'd have a different opinion on their credibility. We'd be hearing something more like "these guys know there stuff...see i told u guys....cowher on tues!!!!@#"

It's difficult to be reasonable with DELLAPELLE JOHN when he continually screams "cowher to bills on tues" over and over and over again

It's his fantasy, and any reports on ESPN or any other source won't sway him from his party line and certainty that Cowher will be announced as the Bills head coach on Tuesday

  2. i dont believe it, did shefter say his sources or was he just speculating?

So Child, after spamming another thread 10 times with the same line "Cowher to Bills on tues.....", it appears your certainty that Cowher would be announced as the Bills coach on Tuesday, is not so certain

    http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?...t&p=1691192

And oh, show me 5 instances in the past where Schefter (not, shefter) cite his sources. Child.

  3. Either way, if I'm GM I would not cut him. He's good enough to keep and then let the coach decide who starts. You do need backups, you know.

    Depth, yes, we need depth

We've lacked depth in recent years once these IR lists baloon

  4. At the same time, thank you for taking that crappy cover 2 scheme with you on the way out. It is going to really hard in the AFC East to not stop the Run and win. We have been horrible in stopping the run and the injuries have nothing to do with it. The schemes repeatedly put the LBs out of position to stop plays from going for long gains.

And thank you for giving undersized linebackers like Keith Ellison who would be backup players on other teams the opportunity to be a full-time starter right here in Buffalo

Equal opportunity employment for undersized linebackers

Way to Go Perry!! Keith Ellison thanks you!

  5. Me too. And if by some miracles of miracles they land Cowher, I would feel very good about the possibility that there is some kind of "succession plan" in place to keep the Bills in Buffalo. I don't think that Cowher would sign on to be the coach of a team that he thought stood a chance of moving as soon as the 91 year old owner passes from the scene. (Either that or Cowher is convinced that after Ralph is gone the Bills will relocate to Carolina to be closer to Cowher's wife and daughter.)

My theory -- THEORY --- pure fantasy speculation -- based on no facts, no source -- that if a deal was to get done with Cowher is that Cowher would get some % ownership stake in the team (2-3%).

    Under this method,

-Ralph/Littmann could potentially limit Cowher's cash compensation to below 8 digits (i.e., below the $10M+ figure that was thrown around in the media regarding Shanahan)

-induces Cowher to think about the long-term value of the team

-gives Cowher significant upside by participating financially from the auction price after Ralph's death

-if the new owner moves the Bills to Los Angeles or another market that increases franchise value further, Cowher shares in the franshise value's appreciation.

  6. It's about winning

It's not about losing to get a slightly higher 1st round draft choice

It's about entertainment for the fans

It's about playing hard for your fans, regardless of who the other team is playing

The Bills gave us all of that today

And thank you TO for running around the stadium to high five and thank the fans. Your production may have not met expecations but you were far more of a gentleman than many in the national media expected you to be

  7. Totally disagree, Vic has excellent insight, especially with what goes on with Buffalo.

I am afraid that what is really going at OBD will be more of the same ... a hasty decision that lacks due dilligence.

    Hope I'm wrong.

I'd love Cowher as the coach of the Bills. (some other TBD users may too while others may have their own preferences for coach)

Will he have another agreement with Bills brass (Brandon, Nix, Littmann et. al. ?) ? Who knows

If it happens and he signs, I'll be pumped as hell

It's great to have a bit of something in our hands, which is what Carucci did today after Mortensen's "report" this morning. But obviously, it's just that -- "something".

This week will hopefully bring news that's more definitive. A coach we can all rally around and make this decade, the Bills decade

  8. John posts just to post. He pretty much lives in his mom's basement and has no life. I mean dude, if you're right more power to you, but you constantly post stuff on ever topic so naturally you're going to be right about something at some point, but that method makes you a douche... who lives in his mother's basement. So when you stop doing that, I'll leave the personal insults out of it and everyone else might take you seriously.

It just seems like this is DELLAPELLE JOHN 's schtick.

It's hard to take the guy seriously when he continues to post and overpost the same statement "cowher to bills on tues....". The serial spamming of the same statements over and over again are DELLAPELLE JOHN's schtick.

  9. wrong, coach sal said cowher met with bills 2 weeks ago and was very impressed, then mortensen said they had another meeting this week and that cowher is interested. vic is speculating that cowher isnt interested. he is wrong, cowher to bills on tues.....

    Coach Sal ... hilarious

    "then mortensen" .... "another meeting"

Mortensen never reported that. He reported on one meeting

These were not mutually exclusive meetings. They were one and the same

  10. Vic doesn't ever seem to have the greatest info and I have never listened to what he said too much. Lets wait til tomorrow and Tuesday and we will see what's really going on around OBD.

He broke the news that the Bills were in discussions with Shanahan, the story that was later picked up by the national media.

Can you provide instances where he "doesn't ever seem to have the greatest info" ?

  11. Carucci sniffed around the Ralph today at the game and followed-up on the media reports about Bills, Cowher, etc.

Carucci reported on 97 Rock that:

    -Fewell gets interview on Monday

-Meeting with Cowher was "hey how ya doing" conversation. Not a meeting of huge substance. At least nothing on par with the 7 hour conversation with Shanahan.

-Cowher up to this point still hasn't viewed Buffalo as the perfect, right situation.

-Cowher is still quietly keeping his eyes on the Carolina situation. And would be happy to return to CBS

    -No Weiss. No Marty Schot-ball.

-Billick will NOT get an interview in Buffalo

-Carucci is unsure about Fassell, Haslett but senses they are not high on list. Bills don't seem to be pressing for them.

-Grimm, Harbaugh, Rivera could be in mix, but nothing definitive

  12. Tampa's owner met with their HC and told him they he and the rest of the staff will be back next year.

As of right now, Buffalo is the only opening for Cowher. I am thinking that it could happen. I don't want to get my hopes up, but some positive signs are happening:

1.) All other valid options seem to have dried up or not materialized (Carolina, Washington, Chicago, Tampa)

2.) Cowher and Bills have met twice

3.) Cowher contacting potential staff members this week (after second meeting with Bills, coincidence?)

4.) Bills named Nix GM. Clearly, Nix is top a top flight GM. This would leave plenty of power on player decisions and such for Cowher.

As a lifelong Bills fan, I have become accustomed to setting myself up for disappointment. But, I cannot help it. I really think there is a good change Cowher could be the Bills next HC.

    I really hope it happens.

Dallas is out as well as Wade Phillips will probably return

Cable could get the boot as well, but Cowher would never work for Al Davis

Would he work for Jerry Jones though, if Phillips didn't return. Would he be able to deal with Jones active involvement in personnel decisions.

Buffalo could be a good landing spot, if he gets an equity stake upon the auction of the team after Ralph's death.

  13. The Bills have already scheduled Billick and Rivera for next week. With Cowher in the mix it seems that they maybe going about things correctly. I see many fans and bloggers have a low self esteem of Buffalo. Buffalo is one of the few cities where you can a true international flavor. I see Buffalo as the ideal choice for a Cowher or any other coach. Ralph has spent money in the past he just hasn't had the good advice to direct him where to spend. Thats because he not hands on. This would be a perfect scenario for Cowher or any coach seeking to have more personnel say so. I done a lot of work in Tampa and it is not a big sports town but the weather is great. They don't sell out when their team is average. Buffalo is a sports crazy town with lousy weather (in the winter). Let see if the old boys can pull it off.

    Wrong

I've been to 5 Tampa Bay Bucs games over the last 5 years. They're fans are diehard. They're knowledgeable. They're great football fans.

And without Time Warner today, did we sell out the Ralph today?
