  1. It is utterly amazing that you are so unshakeably confident in your complete ignorance. Have you ever even calculated an integral? You have not made ONE post that shows you have any knowldege of any of the subjects you're trying to discuss. Not one. Hell, you still can't define variance...after about a thousand posts. Given that it speaks directly to nearly every single matter you've brought up...your complete ignorance of it is telling. You have, however, provided us with such brilliance as "a die regresses to the mean of 3.5" and "a rubber band stretches because of error". I'm pretty sure the reading public is clear you haven't got a clue. Not that anyone's reading this anymore. Most people have just accepted you're a complete dolt and moved on. I would have...but like I said, your delusions, such as the above, entertain me.
  2. What is he being motivated by, then? "I think the war's illegal, so I'll go there if I don't have to shoot." Frankly, I think he IS a coward. Not because he doesn't want to fight, but because he conditionally doesn't want to serve in a war he thinks is unjust. Not a hell of a lot of conviction behind that belief, it seems...
  3. I know that some militaries (like the West German Army) "allow" for soldiers to decline to follow orders that are illegal (e.g. "Go kill those Jews", which is why the West Germans made that little rule up). I don't know if the US military has the same policy...but I certainly support it, if they do. And this guy seems to think his orders are illegal...so I can certainly see his point... ...however: he only thinks that. If he proves it in a court of law (or a court martial), fine and dandy, he should be acquitted. Good luck doing that, though: I know that no domestic laws have been broken, and off the top of my head I can't think of a single international law that's been broken either.
  4. My service supposedly goes by phone number; I have to have the receiver hooked up to the phone line for Sunday Ticket, and it blacks out games based on the phone exchange, apparently.
  5. Cue Fezmid explaining how this is all TSA's fault anyway in 3...2...1...
  6. No, I knew that. It's just fun to watch HA thrash around like a landed fish.
  7. "Wow...you're really in line to be the offensive coordinator of the Dolphins, Elmo?"
  8. Usually, a vanishingly small portion of America pays attention to this beauty pagent for maybe one day a year. Miss USA's indiscretions are giving the pageant more publicity in a week than they'd normally get in a decade. That's why "The Donald" didn't fire her. This is the best thing that ever happened to this pageant. Given Miss Nevada's actions now...maybe they should just make lesbian make-out sessions a pageant competition...
  9. That would carry more weight if you weren't equally ignorant.
  10. And did he just call Milwalkee "beautiful?
  11. No kidding. But when's the last time anyone was banned for a personal crusade? And yes, I'm talking about me specifically (hell, HA's not on a crusade, he's just a moron). I figure I'm fine as long as Darin's not personally upset with me.
  12. I didn't say Stanford's writing was right. I said I wasn't mocking it...because I assume that the author was targeting the writing to a crowd only slightly smarter than your average turnip, and therefore took liberties. Specifically, the liberty in not explaining to your average turnip that ERROR AND VARIANCE ARE NOT THE SAME THING. I'm mocking you, because you think you're an intellectual, even though you're slightly dumber than your average turnip. Though perhaps the turnip got extraordinarily lucky...
  13. Quod Erat Demonstratum. But I know Quantum Electrodynamics too...though I prefer Schwinger's formalism to Feynman diagrams. But then, I argue about statistics for two thousand posts with a functional kindergartener as well, so maybe I'm a masochist...
  14. TO's already announced that he refuses to play in the Pro-Bowl because his QBs are gay. He's reportedly looking for a trade to another Pro-Bowl...
  15. You cute when you're pwned.
  16. No, I'm not making fun of Stanford, UC, etc. I'm making fun of you. Because you're an extreme moron...which is surprising, since as extreme a moron as you are you should have regressed toward a semblance of intelligence by now...
  17. The quotes are correct (except the Berkely one). YOU are wrong. You don't even understand the crap you're using to prove your point.
  18. No. It's pollution when you post. Anything.
  19. The problem isn't the quotes. The problem is the retard doing the quoting. You still can't distinguish between error and variance. No matter how many things you link to "proving" your "point", you'll misunderstand them and be wrong until you somehow, miraculously, unexpectedly learn to distinguish between error and variance.
  20. I didn't say "polluting with talk of regression toward the mean." I said "polluting".
  21. It's like watching a three-year old play-act at being an adult. Just so cute, because they think they're acting adult, but they have no idea...
  22. Hey, it works on the sports side of the board: "This story says Losman sucks and Holcomb should be starting! It's from ESPN!" Why not here?
  23. Nope. Ex-Upholder class. Only about 10-15 years old, from what I understand...not young, but still a first rate diesel-electric. Canadians took delivery in England, three days out on its way to Halifax, a fire started. I never heard what caused it, just that they found it wasn't human error. No argument...anyone who's read anything on WWII in the North Atlantic knows that.
