  1. If Ryan did come in and we ran a 34, we'd have the personnel for it right? Especially if we resigned Spikes. It would make Hughes more expendable if he decided to test FA. Someone who's better with Xs and Os elaborate. Just thinking out loud, maybe that's one of the things the brass is taking into consideration.

  2. I think the Bills should take a look at Lazor, he was Russell Wilson's QB coach in Seattle, he was Nick Foles QB coach last year when Foles played out of his mind and Tannehill has looked pretty good this year with Lazor as the OC.

I think he's just as worthy for consideration as any.

it is a crazy idea. You complain about us looking like the NFL clowns that we are and than want to keep the one person that's the most directly responsible for us being that way on the football side?

Manuel and the trade for Watkins have been unmitigated disasters. You might come back and talk about Hughes or some other lower level trades or FAs, but honestly, Hughes for Shepherd was a no-brainer. If Whaley were really that smart he'd have signed Hughes to a much more affordable contract after last season. Or for all the geniuses here and elsewhere, if he really knew that Hughes would even be more than a marginal starter or backup, to an even more managable long-term contract when they signed him. The bottom line is that Whaley didn't know, either that or he was a fool for not giving him a long-term contract when they signed him or after last season at the least. Now, as a direct result of Whaley's inaction, it sounds as if Hughes is either going to be grossly overpaid or leave.

Yeah, great, what wonderful GM-manship. Can't wait for more of that. What's next, trading our entire draft this year to move into the late 1st-round in yet another "bold" move.

    Please. Whaley's a fool.

Whaley is the best thing to happen to the Bills in years, how someone can not see that is beyond me. Marrone is simply a moron and was a hinderance to what the GM was putting together. Sitting Urbik and Mike Williams for no apparent reason? Trusting Hacket to run his terrible offense? The worst mistake Whaley made was hiring that buffoon, not the Watkins trade.

The improvements that Whaley has made to this roster are quite good, the fact that Marrone couldn't make it work is laughable. An offense that has Spiller, Jackson, Watkins, Mike Williams and Robert Woods should be able to score from time to time. EJ sure as hell looks like the best QB that came out of that draft(as sad as that is) and yet he's regressed under Marrone and corp.

    Kiko

    Brown

    Woods

    Watkins

    Henderson

    Letting Tyrd walk

    Hughes

    Those are all great picks/moves.

Marrone dropped the ball. The Bills should have been a playoff team unfortunately they didn't have a competent HC and OC.

Whaley is not to blame here.

  4. I made similar points in another thread. Well written T Master. The key is Schwartz hiring an experienced OC. Someone like Trestman. It's too bad Kubiak was not available. He's an excellent OC.

I like the idea of Kubiak as HC. He's made 1000 yard rushers out of very avg running backs. He'd get the best out our RBs. Keep Schwartz at DC and I believe we'd be a playoff team next year regardless of who the QB is.

  5. I have major concerns about Schwartz as HC. His team in Detroit was undisciplined and our defense here this year, while very good, was also guilty of too many stupid penalties.

Penalties shmenalties. Seattle leads the league in penalties while Jacksonville has the fewest amount. Quite the contrast. Good teams get penalized just as much as bad teams, stupid or not. Means nothing.

Who gives a crap? You're siting things that didn't even happen anyway. Haha

I want to to be back to where the Pats were - sitting Gronk and not giving a !@#$. Like back in 90 and 91, when Marv sat Kelly, etc. That's when you want to make it meaningless. I'm sure the Lions and Skins are still celebrating those hollow victories.

I care about the big picture, and the big picture would be better if Pegula and Co. aren't thinking "First winning record in 10 years. Progress." I heard John Warrow say it on the radio yesterday. And, I'm hearing it all over this week.

I'm sure everybody criticizing me here, who are Sabres fans, are thrilled with them winning these stupid meaningless games lately - and ruining a future with a superstar.

    Myopic thinking

Uh yeah. Am I supposed to make grand plans for the Bills future from my laptop? If I were any good at running a football team I'd be running a football team. Should I play pretend? Just because I read webmd before a doctor visit does that mean I know better than him? I saw a habitual 6-7 win team turn into a 9 win team. Seems to me Whaley and Marrone know what they're doing so far. Do I question some things? Yes of course, but I won't play make believe and presume I know better.

  7. Not winning season - playoffs - and we didn't..............I hate that win Sunday more and more, as I'm hearing all about winning season so much this week, like it was a real game.

I never thought it we were a bottom five team.

The trade looks even stupider now than it did when it was made, and I immediately hated it.

Would it have been "like a real game" if we had lost? Was the '04 Steelers loss a "real game"? I'm guessing if we had lost the game like we lost to the Steelers backups 10 years ago it would have meant more to some. However we beat the Pats and did it at their house and held them to no TDs, I don't care who was playing, it's a good win.

We can pretend to be "real", go through the schedule and nitpick it. Decide which games should count and which games shouldn't but the REAL reality is that the Bills finished 9-7 and 4-2 against the division. I'm pretty sure most of this board would've been happy with that if they were told at the beginning of the season that would be the record.

The Bills still have a ways to go, but they're close enough now to sniff the playoffs. Whaley has been the best thing that's happened to the Bills in 10 years. Seriously. Think back to when we had Donahoe, think about how long that's been. That's the last time we were competitive.

Now we have Whaley and he's been in charge for almost two years and here we are finally competative again. And people are ready to run him out of town. It's insane. It's like having a kid who's been getting F's his whole life finally get excited about school and bring home a B- and now we want him to change schools because we don't agree with the teachers philosophy. It's absolutely stupid.
