  1. Haven't heard about any press conference scheduled today. After 2 in 3 days, it makes you wonder what they're doing over there at One Bills Drive. :w00t:

Seriously, one of the weirdest parts of these last couple days is the 2 press conferences on Tuesday. Did they finish the 1st one of Donahoe's firing and then somebody remind Ralph he forgot to say anything about Mularkey??

Kind of sad and embarassing for the organization. Hope things improve with Marv in charge.

  2. Marv has presence. Very aware of the league. Very sharp, hardly a feeble old man.  Called himself an 80 year old rookie.  Will help Mularky with communications, he will not handle cap problems or numerical side of contract negotiations.

Ralph Wilson - No timetable on how long Marv will be here. "As long as he wants" " "I hope he outlasts me"  Marv said he used no agent and never had a length to his contracts with RW.

OC and DC will be picked by MM. Ralph, Modrak & ML will also contribute to decision, Ralph said he wanted to meet OC and DC before they are hired.

Free agents "as agressive as we can" Quoted George Allen "the future is now"

RW asked Marv's advice, RW said why not you Marv? ML called back next day and accepted

Ralph is "now comfortable" that MM will do a great job. RW said he detached his involvement over last 5 years leaving imput to one person for decisions. He will now be involved.  Frankly RW looked and sounded pretty old.

I had read some things on this board about how Ralph had looked but saw it for the 1st time today.  OMG.  My Dad just turned 84 but he comes across as a relative pup next to Ralph.  Some are criticizing his decisions.  I wonder if he even knows what he's doing.  Marv looked sharp, though.

  3. I just got finished watching the game which I recordre via Tivo while we were off getting our Christmas tree Obviously you guys have touched on just about everything by now.

I've been a Bills' fan since 1970. This ranks as one of the top devastating losses ever. Glad I just bought two 18-packs.

    Baaaaahhh!! Humbug!!!!

  4. This team had a supposed chip on their shoulder from the last game of the season last year.  The coaching staff preached to start the season fast.  Is winning your first game the definition of starting fast.  I guess since we were 0-4 last year this is a fast start.  We are not a smart team coaches included. First of all can someone do some research and find out how many times we have started a drive this season with a penalty or any sort of negative play.  With a young QB you cant shoot yourself in the foot and have 1st and long and then usually that translates to 2nd and long, third and long, and punt.  McGahee starts off the game with a 20 some yard run and then he touches it 7 more time in the half.  He should touch the ball atleast 25-30 times a game.  Is it just me or can other teams get 5 yards passing with ease. Everything we throw is to the outside and after 4 games that seems to have worked real well. Do we run any quick slants or crossing routes or anything short across the middle?  Holcomb is no better than Losman.  Keep Losman in every second of every game and let him take his lumps.  The Saints do not have Joe Horn this game you figure we woulld be alright in the secondary. Instead we has the ubelieveable ability to let teams convert numerous third downs.  Do we have a 4 man pass rush?  I think sometimes Brooks got tired of looking for receivers and just threw it away.  I think he was thinking this is the NFL, I should not have this much time to look at every receiver 3 or 4 times.  He should have ran more,  Brooks could have easily rushed a ton of yards.  Lastly we are lack things like heart, intensity.  It just seems like we lack a desire.  We have no "want to." This is evidentby the fact that on 4th down plays in consecutive weeks lose probably 5 yards. Everyone in the bar was cheering Mularkey when he decided to go for it and I said to my G/F do they not remeber our 4th down play last week? 5 seconds later and it is the Saints ball, we fail to convert surprise surprise. Then with less than 5 minutes left down by 9 we decied to punt????? When the defense knows it is coming and we know it is coming it is no more than man on man who wants it more, who is going to refuse to lose?  I think the team expects to lose road games and if we win it is justan added inscentive.  Kickoff return at the end of the half was disgusting anyone who witnessed probably lacks the words to describe whatever that was.  Finally what player from USC should we take in the top ten.

Are the Bills actually playing Tight Ends?? Are they being used just for blocking?? Isn't a tight end generally a 'safety valve" for a QB??

  5. Well, trying to stay optimistic, this was only the 4th game.

I was looking back to last year in my Bills' Yearbook. Of course, everyone remembers we were 0-4. The game in Week 4 was the close loss to the Jets on a Brien FG at the end. The Bills had trailed 10-0 at the half but scored 2 4th qtr TDs to take the lead. Bledsoe played well with only 1 INT and 2 TD passes and was sacked 4 times.

I remember being very disappointed with the 0-4 start after all the promise going into the year, and had no way of expecting the great run the Bills had in the 2nd half of the season.

As we know now, the Bills amazingly almost made the playoffs.

Looking at this season now, the 1-3 start is very disappointing, but 2 of the losses have been against playoff caliber teams in Tampa and Atlanta, with the Tampa loss on the road.

This can still be fixed, people!! The season is not lost!! With New England losing, the Bills are only one win out of 1st in their division. Last season, the 5th game was at home vs Miami. The same is true for this season. The rivalry makes the teams' records and how they've played meaningless.

Sure, the performance of the offense and Losman so far is very discouraging, but they can still click. We won't know for a couple days likely if Mularkey may pull the unexpected and start Holcomb next week. If he did, and Kelly had the whole week of practice as the starter, we'd likely see something better out of him than we've seen with him coming into a game trailing.

If the Bills stick with Losman, we may still see him have a good game next week. Who knows??!!

After last season, I , for one, will not consider the Bills out of the playoffs until they are mathematically eliminated nor that they can't still have a winning season until they've lost an 8th game

  6. He had done so well and been so well thought of his 1st 2 years. I watched all 4 preseason games, and despite misses by Lindell, I didn't notice (or really pay attention to) any obvious issues with the long snaps.

With the timing you need on place kicks, Dorenbos must've been really messing up for the team to make a change right before the opener.

Now timing needs to be developed between the new snapper, Moorman and Lindell.

  7. One year, I think it was the 2001-2002 season, I got the Center Ice package (on Time Warner) for the last 3 months of the season, for 59.99.  The funny thing was, the next season, I got it again, for free...I don't know if it was a clerical error on Time Warner's part or what.  When the season began, I thought it was just one of those "free preview" things they do with all of the sports packages, but it just kept on for the whole season.

Dude, maybe you should check your credit card reports, if you still have them.

NFL Ticket and NBA Season Pass both renew automatically.

  8. If half way thru the season, the Bills are like 3-5 or 2-6 and JP has just had back to back games of like 7 for 25 for 60 yards and 3 INTs, then i'll be concerned.

    Not now!

Even if he has a couple tough games early, I have confidence in Mularkey and the coaching staff to rely on the running game and defense and not put JP in the situation to have to win games.

  9. "Screwed" with Norm MacDonald and Dave Chappelle always cracks me up.

    same story with "Zoolander".

I agree that "Blow" was pretty good too.

and finally I'll say "Saving Silverman" as well.  I usually get roped into at least 15 minutes of it if i see it on TV.

I just saw Zoolander the other day. I had never seen it before. I thought it was stupid but still pretty funny.

  10. Buffalo '66.

...a movie about a young Buffalo man who feels isolated and is afraid to love because of the neglect and distain he got from his mother. She's the Buffalo Bills freak and his untimely birth in 1966 made her miss the Bills last winning championship. She's always blamed him for missing that  game.

His one chance for redemption and winning his mother's affection is shattered when Bills' kicker Scott Wood misses what would be the winning field goal when it goes wide right in the superbowl.

The Buffalo (Bills) connection made it better for me, but even if it had been the Philly and the Eagles, I would have enjoyed the quirkiness of it.

A lot of people thought it was the stupidest thing ever, but I loved the characterizations. Bizarre, but my kind of movie.

I don't much care for predictable gag movies and flicks that are centered around special effects.

Buffalo '66 was the 1st movie I thought of when I saw this topic. LOL!!! As a movie, I thought it was pretty bad. Had it not involved the Bills, I would've likely not watched it or turned it off after a few minutes.

It cracked me up that it was supposed to be like 5 years after that Super Bowl 25 and it was the offseason, and his mother was watching the game on tape and told everyone to be quiet as Norwood lined up for the kick. Like she thought maybe it would be good this time?? LOL!!!

  11. Reed is on the All-Time lists for several stats. However, he never had a real dominating season (like say 15 TDs or 100 receptions).

The Super Bowls give him recognition, but unfortunately some media members wil hold the 4 Super Bowl losses against him. He didn't have a great Super Bowl game either.

I personally would vote for him as a biased Bills' fan but I'm not sure he'll get in.
