  1. Good post. I think it's highly unlikely Marv drafts anything other than defense in the first round. Amobe or Willis or trade down if he thinks Willis or Pos will be available, if Amobe is already gone, then trade back into the bottom of the first round if TE Greg Olsen is still there. I know, I contradicted myself.
  2. I don't see Marv trading Willis without a serious plan to find a full time back. It seems every team except Atlanta has enough of a running game to pass on AP, so maybe our extra 3rd rounder could get us above them. Or trade for Ladel Betts?
  3. One of the pure joys of following the Bills, this weekly post. Thank you.
  4. The next 5 regular season games are playoff games as long as the Bills keep winning. 9-7 won't cut it. Even 10-6 is not a guarantee.
  5. [10/7/2006 1:25:03 AM] After safety Donte Whitner was named the NFL's defensive rookie of the month for September, he collected six tackles Sunday to help Buffalo defeat the Vikings 17-12 in October's first game. So Buffalo doesn't look so bad for ostensibly reaching to pluck Whitner eighth overall. I won't pretend that I'd heard of the guy before the draft, but I didn't understand why the Bills got crucified for choosing an obscure player so high. They obviously did their homework. If an NFL team is convinced that a prospect is a future star, it's too risky to get cute and try to draft him at "right spot," as some contended he would be at No. 15. Let's just applaud the Bills and their septuagenarian GM Marv Levy, who's smart enough to be the only talent evaluator in NFL history with a master's degree from Harvard ('51), in English history.... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writ...fl.films/1.html If we only could save these mea culpas as coupons and trade them for a 2nd or 3rd round draft choice next year.
  6. Villarial out with high ankle strain, won't return today.
  7. Sidelines reporter says the wind is as bad as last Sunday on the field.
  8. Maybe Troy Vincent is thinking about purchasing the Buffalo Bills.
  9. McCargo plays regularly on a markedly improved Bill's defense and he should get credit for that. The fact that Whitner and Simpson appear to be naturals and produced measurables like veterans does not reflect poorly on McCargo. Marv could be as smug as a Christian with four Aces if he so chose, with immediate and long term contributions this draft promises(7 on the team, 1 on PS). It's too early to punch tickets for the post season, but it just got a whole lot easier to expect. A n t i c i p a t i o n ...

  11. Melvin Fowler replaced the injured All-star center for the Vikings last year Matt Birk for nine games and was very effective, by all accounts. He wanted to start and would not with Birk returning, so this is not a case of him being rejected. Tutan Reyes is a seven year starter. The Panthers have 3rd year guy that they want to plug in, cheaper of course. They had a good line with Reyes, they wanted to save money and use their draft pick. I don't see that as being a reject. Only time will tell, but I think Marv has made good personnel decisions in the past and nothing he's done so far as GM has changed my mind about that.
