by the time training camp starts they will have players capable of playing outside.

This diggs trade is going to turn out great for buffalo.  Training camp is going to be so much fun.   No more drama and nothing but upside from young players all over the offense.   Whoever they draft does not have to replace Diggs that is the big misconception here.  The team is going to have all kinds of weapons.

I have always said this and will always say this, WR are not what wins you championships, being a physically and mentally tough football team  that can win on the road is what wins games.  The defense is what is and has been holding up this team in the post season.   I am not sure they have improved that this offseason and I am not sure McDermott is capable of it.

I have zero worries about the offense.  WR do not determine championships, if they did Steve Largent, Chris Carter, Tim Brown, Randy Moss, Julio Jones, Larry fitzgerald etc....would have the trophy case that Tom Brady, Bill Walsh, Chuck knoll etc... have.  The bills just need a good young player who fits in with the team and will do his job and be a part of the team.  I am already sick of hearing about replacing diggs production.

I agree that replacing Diggs with a bona-fide #1 WR candidate MAY not be necessary. If Allen can distribute the ball we could be better for it. That all depends on a lot of things.

Does the group step up as a whole

Do opposing teams start to figure out Brady

    Injuries and depth

It could take the Bills some games to figure out their rhythm, and then you've got to hope they can endure late season games and possibly playoffs knowing the good teams will make adjustments.

For me it is all wait and see. Lots of questions no matter which direction we go

Have we decided if it’s better or worse to have a first round pick (along with the 5th year option) vs an early second?

I like the 5th year OPTION. The key word here is option

  3. I can see Beane trading up to the mid teens or lower 20's......

He has the ammunition to do more if he feels that strongly about those top 3 WRs... but my thoughts are he will do what he has done before and move up to grab proabably Adonai Mitchell if the run on WRs happens as expected

    That isn't a typo.

Josh Allen is elite now.  Diggs served his purpose, much like Tyreek Hill served his in Kansas City.  They gave shooting star QB's reliable, talented targets they could confidently throw to, helping to establish confidence and develop the QB's mental game.

Hill complained after being traded (at least he watied to make this public when he was already gone) that he wasn't being focused on enough, or getting enough targets...etc.

The Chiefs traded him away, used the assets and cap space to improve other parts of the team, AND then went out and performed even better on offense.  I strongly believe that a reason why this happend is becasue Mahomes was entirely free to run each and every play with the idea that making the most optimal throw is what mattered.  Not to massage an ego or placate a guy wanting a larger role etc.  You can make a strong case KC's WR room isn't any great shakes.  I'd agree with that.  They don't need to be.  Zach Wilson isn't our QB....and he's not the Bills QB either.  Josh Freaking Allen is.  Allen doesn't need elite, high cots WR's to shine now.

I know the Bills are committed to this season as an all in, all chips to the middle of the table type season....that's fine.  I wouldn't even say that it's a bad idea....but I think it would be better if you moved Diggs for all you could possibly get, go sign a couple vets who need to prove it, who have maybe some low self esteem because they've fallen out of favor due to injury etc....get a couple mid level guys who you know are good pros.  Let ALLEN run the team.. let HIM dictate the best place for the ball to go.  It's his job to run as efficient, well managed offense as he possibly can....not make sure pouting WR's see the ball X number of times a game.

Use the resources to add to your team in areas that Allen doesn't directly impact, like the defense etc.  If the guys work out...they move on, sign big deal somewhere else...and you reload with a couple more dudes who need to prove it again.  There is never a shortage of these guys and they overplay their contracts consistantly.  Plus, you'll be supplimenting these WR's with WR's you draft who are cheap and cost controlled.

ALLEN is it. He's why you are 3rd best odds to win Super Bowl this upcoming season.. LEAN INTO IT.

and now we get to see what a Diggs-less Bills will be like.

Bold post 1 year in advance, as I wouldn't have felt this way at this time last year

Quick question: What do these players have in common? Kevin White, Corey Davis, Mike Williams (from Clemson to the Chargers), John Ross, Drake London and Sammy Watkins?

All WRs chosen in the top ten picks in the last ten years.

    one.

The question is do you trust Bills scouts and Beane to make the right choice.  Watkins was a Doug Whaley move, and hindsight being 20/20 he wasn't a great talent evaluator

If Beane feels strongly then he's going to make the move. I share some trepidation, but I share equal trepidation looking for another expensive FA to replace Diggs with added trepidation do to the amount it will cost cap wise while Allen's making his bank

Using those picks to get a player who can be a top 5 WR with Allen  and another potentially elite WR  is  IMO well worth it

The position is by far in desperate need of that talent level

they just got to make the right choice, but I agree. But I also share some trepidation with such a bold move.

He had to pass on Mahomes to get Tre White. So yes, give up firsts and go get a super star.

Beane wasn't hired till after that draft.... which I believe was to let the new GM choose a QB which did happen the following season

On May 9, 2017, Beane was hired by Buffalo as the general manager, joining former Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, who had been hired as head coach

May is well after the draft

Now I do agree that moving up and grabbing MHJ is a bold move but it would be the right one IMO, we have lots of salary cap room to fill holes in 2025 so using draft capital next year won't hurt to much. We also have extra picks in the 4th 5th and 6th round this year

Does Kromer like Van Demark so much that he'd be willing to part with Dion Dawkins.   Dion and the Bills #1 for the Giants' #1?

if we do this we take on ($41,944,499) in dead cap

Thoughts about a trade for him? Could we even afford what he will want? And what would it take pick wise. A proven commodity,  but costly. I'm not sure I would do it because of this amazing draft for WRs.

We need cost control. Not a WR on a 5th year option about to get paid similiar money to what Diggs was making

  10. I think there is a strong possibility of a major move upwards in this draft for a top WR.

I also feel Beane has a handshake deal in place to make a move to #4 or #6.

Add in the fact that our 2025 Cap space is large we can fill some holes through FA in 2025

the WRs in this draft are deep but after the 1st 4 come off the board the rest of the field looks like rock solid #2s or field stretchers. We need a stud #1 to compliment Allen and I don't feel accepting whomever is left at #28 or in the 2nd round will fill hole we have at the #1 WR position, and a #1 WR is not on our roster today. We have solid players who will make an impact but not a #1
