Bills need more impact players. Players like Chris Jones really show up in key moments.

I'm curious as to what Beane and McDermott got from this game. They are always preaching growth mindset. They can learn a lot from the Chiefs and the Bengals.

Jones was a second round, pick 37 in 2016. Those players are out there for Bean to find. Bills picked Shaq Lawson in round 1 that year.

We DO have guys who are more physical.  I'd probably add Phillips, Dane Jackson, Edmunds & Knox.

It's a "team thing", though - overall, we don't play a physical, hard-hitting style of football.  You could see it against Cincinnati, who does play that way.  I don't know what makes for the distinction, but I'm sure coaching plays a part of that.  I don't think Cincy has more physical players - but they play a more physical style.

I suppose a bruiser sort of RB would help, at least on O.

I think part of the difference is Cinci is built to win their division against Steelers, Ravens and Browns, all of which play a very physical style. The AFC east… not so physical.

Bean has built our team to beat KC who aren’t physical either. He has drafted several undersized quick players on defense who can get pushed around - Oliver, Harrison Phillips, Milano, Bernard, etc. He finally fixed some of that this year by bringing Shaq and Jordan Phillips back. Edmunds should be the tone setter. I saw some of that from him this year but he needs to be better at it. Poyer is also a big hitter but was obviously playing injured this year.

  3. The only thing that makes sense to me is they hope to use him in a 3 backer D after they had problems stopping the power run game in 2021 used by Indy and Tenn as well as someone who could match up with Kelse.

He must be more of a project than they realized.

  4. Change can come from outside the organization or from within. I think Dorsey is in over his head. However I recognize that he can grow and get better as a coordinator. Josh also needs to take some ownership here too and improve his decision making. I don’t see McDermott firing either coordinator. So that only leaves us fans to hope for growth and change from within.

Will they change? I guess we will find out at the draft.

  5. Watch examples of film breakdown on Cover 1. Cinci knew what we were doing and game planned against it. Bad coaching decisions on defense. Bills defense thought they knew what Bengals offense was doing but Cinci switched their tendencies. No creativity on offense to counter the pressure Josh was under. Repeated failures on the O line. All of that is on coaches and personnel decisions by Bean.

Blaming the loss on lack of energy and the stess of the season is a cop out and will not prevent the problem from recurring in the future.

  6. The Bills have no creativity on offense or defense. Teams know what we are doing on each side of the ball. That is a coaching scheme problem. When you get to the playoffs, good teams can exploit that and plan against it.

  7. Our offensive talent has withered while Bean has put massive resources into the defense. Dorsey also looks like he is in over his head. He didn’t dial up anything new on offense for this game. There is no misdirection, no quick pass game, no power run sweeps with Josh, no deception, screens, no play calls that set up other plays. Our offense is just vanilla and hope for Josh to make an incredible play. So disappointing from a game plan perspective.
