  1. So, you're saying he has a chance (he's 6'1")?

Brady had an average arm when he came into the league. Just sayin'.

...I always wonder what Brady would be without coming into a full blown machine like the Pats. Remember Drew Bledsoe was running that team and well. Unlike our Bills who have a finger in the damn until somebody gets hurt and then the dam breaks. I'm not sure anyone can thrive under that system.

  2. If this subject has been posted before I apologize... Since the Bills are not going to go after a QB what round do you think Kellen will go in in? He only wins...sigh we've heard that before... but I like him... thoughts and Merry Christmas to all!!

  3. After reading the posts I guess I'm lucky so far. I'm outside of the blackout area so that's not a issue. Also even if the Bills are on the Elmira or Corning local channels I'm still seeing it on "The Ticket" not being told to go to my local.

All in all for $150 its much more than worth it especially to watch out of market games for the rest of the season when the Bills are eliminated ummmmmm soon.

  4. I listen to Steve Hartman on Fox Sports channel 169 XM radio. They do a show from 12 - 4 pm Pacific time that is very entertaining and very balanced.

By the way, why even listen to that annoying Cowturd? I stopped listening to him about 3 years ago.

Wasn't Steve Hartman on "The Loose Cannons" on KLAC? Even though I'm in upstate NY I listen to KLAC on the puter stream for The Dan Patrick Show, Jim Rome and last hour of work is "the Cannons".

  5. To Mike in HorseHeads,

You don't need the state, you need private investment, that is the only assured way of a successfully run facility until the debt is paid off. By then, the managing agency should have ample experience to run the facility on it's own merits.

..I couldn't agree more, but I guess that means the Bills are looking for a two billion dollar investor for a stadium and the team. Not going to happen.

  6. You guys are delusional! Fun, but delusional.

We went from a $100M Rich renovation to a Dome costing over 10 times what the still unspecified renovations would cost.

The Dome people are talking as though we already have the $100M sitting in Orchard Park! As far as I know, we are mostly counting on the largess of New York State for much of that money and their credit is also in the toilet, so where does that leave us? Anyone want to co-sign for that Loan?

Niagara Falls is mostly a Super Fund site. Take any suitable parcel, do some preliminery soil tests, and I expect the actual development costs would be out of sight expensive. Soil remediation is mostly a huge rip-off BUT if the site tests call for it, get ready to write a big fat check, and that's before you even get to build anything. A Buffalo City location would be preferable but that's IF we had the funding and I don't think there's a chance of pulling that one off.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the BILLS and Erie County/NYS can settle on some acceptable Rich renovations, sign a 10-20 year deal, and praise God that we got that far!

...Any body thinking that the State is going to help build a billion dollar dome in the Falls is dreaming. Based on the attached if they contribute $10 the area/Bills/fans will be lucky.

  7. 1)That "Buffalo Winter" reputation would take out any chance of a Super Bowl.

2)The premo Hotels on the Canadian side would create a traffic nightmare on game day and for that matter the Grand Island Bridges and Niagara Falls Blvd.

3)Those tourists getting off the bus from foreign countries are not coming to tailgate and watch a football game unless its the World Cup.

4)As many have said, once they start digging and the DEC gets involved it could be another "love Canal".

5)With every new stadium comes the famous PSL's before you buy your season ticket. I can't see $65,000$ people shelling out that kind of cash.

Not trying to be negative but realistic.

...Of course there is lots of land down here in Horseheads and they are building a new Hampton Inn!!!! Never mind, oil/gas companies beat the Bills to it. LOL.

  8. I won't bicker about whether or not they should do it, but why make the new additions a copy of the Lambeau additions? That would be lame! At least make it unique.

Isn't that the point, that this is a unique franchise and game experience?

Wouldn't you consider it lame if some other losing franchise copied the Bills stadium, in an attempt to cash in on some kind of historic or nostalgic angle?

Or if say, the San Diego Padres renovated their stadium to approximate Yankee Stadium and promoted it as a San Diego/MLB baseball temple?

Padres built a great stadium just like my beloved Orioles. Bottom line is to win, O's went from 3.0 million to less than 2 million because they have sucked. Upgrade or build a new stadium and it will be a thing to see (Pirates, O's) then nobody will care after a while. Soooo... unless your dedicated to make the play on the field a priority why bother? Look at the Sabres NOW, they could play in the old Aud and pack the place because us fans believe Pegula is in it to win it.

  9. I disagree with the bolded statement. The Bills' poor track record is due in large part to management's shortsightedness.

Over the last 40 years, the Bills have used their first pick of the draft on a RB ten different times. During that span, they have not once used their first pick of the draft on a QB.

A RB is a "win now" type pick, because it's expected that a rookie RB can come in and contribute immediately. The downside is that RBs typically have short careers. A QB is a build for the future pick, because rookie QBs are typically useless, and belong firmly on the bench. The upside is that a QB is the most important player on the team, and QBs tend to have longer careers than players at most other positions.

TD's regime is a perfect example of "win now." In his very first draft, he used a second round pick on a RB, even though the Bills already had Antowain Smith. A few years later he'd use a first round pick on another RB even though the Bills already had Travis Henry. The second time around he tried to make himself seem future-oriented, by pointing out that McGahee would be out with an injury during his rookie year. But the bottom line is that he was still spinning his wheels at the RB position instead of implementing a serious blueprint to build a successful team over the long haul.

Similarly, TD traded away a first round pick for an aging veteran (Bledsoe), who was released three years later. He allowed his DB with the best combination of youth + proven accomplishment to go first-contract-and-out. Letting Antoine Winfield leave gave TD the salary cap space he needed to overpay for an aging Troy Vincent and for Lawyer Milloy.

The Bills went 5-11 in 2005, TD's fifth (and last) season with the team. Not only were the Bills a bad team, they were an aging bad team. There were no long-term solutions at four of the five OL spots, there was nothing at quarterback, nothing at WR except for Lee Evans, very little in the defensive front-7 except for Aaron Schobel, and little or nothing at safety.

Back when TD was general manager, Marv Levy praised the trade for Bledsoe. He said that if you used a first round pick on a QB and it turned out to be Drew Bledsoe, you'd be very happy with the pick. Shortly after becoming GM, he said that if you build for the future, you're building for someone else's future. Based on these data, it should surprise no one that Marv continued "living for the moment," exactly as TD had done. He went into his first draft with the thought that the defense had to be improved right away, with the two most critical positions being SS and DT. That blinkered focus was why he ignored better players at other positions in order to squander his first round picks on Whitner and McCargo.

Going into his second draft, Marv once again adopted a "live for today" mentality. Not content with the 12,535 early picks the Bills had used on RBs over the last decade, Marv decided to use the 12th overall pick on yet another RB. He then traded up in the second round to grab a LB, in part because LBs are typically expected to make solid contributions their rookie years.

In addition to these things, Jabari Greer was allowed to go first-contract-and-out, and the 12th overall pick was used on his intended replacement (McKelvin). Throwing away top-15 picks like this in a "live for today" celebration would be inexcusable--at least to someone seriously interested in building the team for the long haul. It is absolutely boneheaded to create holes by letting your youngest and best players leave by free agency, only to use your very best draft picks to fill those holes.

Bill Belichick is a guy who builds for the future. The kind of trade Belichick loves the most is to trade away the Patriots' second round pick in this year's draft for the other team's first round pick in next year's draft. Do you think a guy like Belichick would have indulged himself in even a tenth of the outright stupidity of the TD/Levy era? His disciplined approach to building a team is one of the reasons why the Patriots obtained three Super Bowl rings under his regime.

The Raiders appear to have adopted the same "live for today" shortsighted mentality associated with TD and Levy. Not only is this an extremely bad trade for the Raiders, but I strongly suspect that if this decision is representative of how the franchise is being run, they are unlikely to have much success until their current GM is replaced.

...Guess its nit picking that Jim Kelly was a first round pick.

  10. The saga continues. It is hard to believe there is not enough money to be made on both sides for an agreement to be reached. EIGHT FREAKIN' YEARS and still no deal...

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/10/14/eight-years-later-nfl-network-still-isnt-national/

...I get the TWC crap cable 2-13 for $10 a month (local's) and RR for $50.

...Directv get's me the rest of anything I want and get the Sunday Ticket. As for the Sabres they are on MSG in HD here on DTV. I left DTV a few years ago for Dish and frankly DISH sucks, paid to get out.... a very far #3 from DTV and TWC.

  11. In opening segment Jim Rome teased talking about one of his favorite stories this year in the NFL. The bills. Said he will get into it in his 2nd hour

I think Rome picks his spots but not many other talking heads would say about "the excitement in the OP". Well unless your a real Bills fan, or ate veggies from Loblaws as a kid, you would think Orchard Park is Niagara Falls when they show the traditional picture on game day for the viewers!
  12. Seriously? That's insane.

How is Marv Albert now the D Team at CBS?

    Boy, the might have fallen.

Regardless, he was horrendous on Sunday.

Yes it was Marv... He saw the NBA season flushing so he gave up his job on YES doing Nets games. Plus he'll lose that paycheck from TNT, but they will keep him for college BB.

...I hope it was just a off week, when on his game he's one of the best.
