  1. I think Don Henley wrote that song after he was caught with an underage girl in a hotel by some local TV station. He makes some good points with oits lyrics, but his motivation was hardly some "rage against the mainstream media", rather it was driven by his own anger at getting caught.
  2. Clark Hall is on the Main St. campus and used to be where the Bulls played basketball. Very small venue (less than 5K seats, probably built in the 30's or 40's. I imagine it is still standing, at least it was while I was there (79-82, yikes!!!).
  3. I think one of the reasons the Boeing Aircraft Company was located in the Pacific Northwest was the easy availibity of spruce lumber, a key part of early airframes. The continued presence of the Boeing Co. during the WW2 buildup led to construction of the Columbia and Grand Coulee Dams on the Columbia River, which is the largest source of hydroelectric power in the US.
  4. That was the first concert I went to as well!!! Saw Black Sabbath at the NF Covnention Center a month or so afterwards, I think I was in 9th grade at the time!! Probably the best was Commander Cody at the Tralf, sometime in the mid 80's. I remember seeing The Bachman Turner Overdrive (!!!!) at the Salty Dog in Buffalo, got totally hammered and had a great time. I think the music was pretty good also.
  5. A sensible response (strangley enough) to a somewhat strange question. As if a football score should have a lasting impact on a persons life. This is TBD, however.
  6. One of the happiest days of my life was when I finally sold my house in the DeVaux area. This after owning it for 17 years, but trying to rent it out (successfully, kind of) for fifteen. Talk about having an albatross removed...... I still miss the place.
  7. I think the turbine car was required to restrict its air intake port, it made the car uncompetitive and other driving teams stopped using it. I think the l;ast person to use an Offy powered car in the Indy 500 was Jim Hurtibise from North Tonawanda, it was also the last front engine car that qualified at Indy.
  8. Maybe it ought to be harder for the high school graduate to get ahead. Few, if any, society's will reach thier full potential by relying on a minimal education expectation for the majority of its citizens. As was stated in a previous post, universal college education may be difficult. Encouraging people to attain that college eductaion by having it be hard to get ahead without would probably benefit our society in the long run.
  9. Buy plugs for both you and your kid. NASCAR races are louder, but both types will be louder than any other sporting event you have been to, especially if you are sitting close to the track. Both types of races are fun to go to, but NASCAR puts on a better "show". Racing is like hockey, it's best experienced in person, rather than TV. I'd recommend going to the Ford 400, a good time.
  10. You are a "diick", but you are also somewhat perversely proud of it. Go with your strengths.
  11. Don't flatter yourself, you are neither that important or interesting to warrant "stalking".
  12. Standard NRA talking points. Now try to tell us how you think for yourself. Lemming.
  13. Absolutely a classic. You have captured the essence of the PPP circle jerk perfectly.
  14. I highly doubt if you could pull out 5 better looking women 43 years old. I am reasonably confident that any attempt on yours, or anybody that posts on TBD, to approach such women would result in police involvement. Any "pulling" egarding this topic would most likely be done solo by the posters here.
